Look, if every player who logs in can have an outpost on Gamma what makes it special? Technically every player currently can, but you need to defend it. And that's fine. So what if defending = corp and teamwork and a bit of intelligence and a physical presence in game. Aren't these good properties to have in a MMO? The game is based on time, more time you are subbed more skillpoints you have. While it be real sweet for low EP players to do everything in game there needs to be content for ALL level of EP players .... Stay in the game long enough, or join a corp and share in their experience, and you play all aspects. Don't expect it or demand the game be dumbed down so you can have it out of the box.

As far as multi boxing ... It's really quite simple ... People who can afford a computer(s) and the sub costs and like the game enough will multi box. And good for them. Seriously Syndic I may have trolled you in the past here but you suggesting no multi boxing after running 8 accounts, simply because you're not doing it now, is bullshit. It doesn't ruin the game. I currently have 3 accounts but can only really effectively play one at a time since the gamma expansion because its all my current computer can handle. Can I mine while I'm in combat? Nope. Artifact while mining? Nope. But that's life. I pay for my accounts, and as long as they are subbed they collect EP ... It's a sandbox, and that also applies to how you play it.

By your own admission you're not really in game, you're doing whatever you choose. And you (and I) are free to post whatever you choose here. But quit trying to ruin a game you're no longer committed to ... I'd like nothing more to see you and 40 of your CIR bros come and assstomp us somewhere, anywhere in game ... But that means you gotta play the game.

Hopefully I'll be proven wrong for a change. But seeing the problems "legit" gifted accounts and multiboxing are causing, just imagine how fun it would be if everyone would have a nice ~20 free-account fleet of Termis or w/e to mine for them without having to go through the tediously boring process of recreating new accounts every 2 weeks. lol

Hi, My name is Syndic. I am no longer relevant to this game. I pioneered every exploit I am now trying to cause drama about by posting the same garbage in every possible thread. I don't even really know if the exploits I used are being used but I figure if I repeat it enough times on every forum post people will believe they are. I can throw stones now because I am not currently doing the things I am complaining about. Also I want to wreck the game I'm not playing but you all are, because none of you care that I'm not around any more.

^^ sorry guys but obvious translation is obvious.

Finally! Chaos Landers Defense strategy revealed!

i always thought thats one thing sandboxgames are about...

fixed for you wink

Sorry but poor tutorials =/= emerging sandbox gameplay.

Edit 'cause I'm still mad bro:  I recall when Nebs base was attacked by Chaos with mechanics we were not aware of at the time we were told by higher ups to deal with it. Please don't tell me now that Chaos was not aware of how a mechanic works and as a result they have lost buildings that its going to be dealt with. There really does need to be better information provided on all the MPC structures and exactly how they work and their specs ... Even the Devs have identified they need to revamp their tutorial. Until that happens this will happen.

But to be PERFECTLY clear, in the end the reason you will lose structures is because you don't defend them with bots and players. Turrets and boosters just aren't enough.

I have my 3 accounts, but each are role specific .... My bots are usually self sufficient ...
The first one I have ever fitted a bot with a remote sensor amp was last week, and only because I had the space on a mech. My general fits are tailored for solo play and I rely on teammates for EWar when I'm dps'ing and vice versa. I prefer to have my characters specialized into their own careers. I fit bots to kill observers solo, and keep retrying until I'm successfully and they stop killing me. smile

The exception is my Indy. All my mining, production, research and prototyping, hauling, detecting is done on one toon. I can produce a lot, and mine a lot, but I have to go back and get the hauler to grab my can. And I really like this character and his setup.

Tl;Dr ... To each his own playstyle, but I certainly see single bot as viable.

So those who have research and factory on separate accounts will unsub one account simply because they will not GAIN a small bonus when the game is patched? You're not losing anything. You are also forgetting by having subbed 2 accounts and specializing them you were able to get better prototyping and better factory advantages quicker than the person who had both on one account. Conveniently forgetting when things are in your favour ... I guess you want all advantages all the time.  Also, Xira, just join our corp, you can produce your items with our bonused facilities on Gamma and be able to easily compete with the Alpha producers.

Of course some people will lose an advantage when things are changed. But IMO the intent of this change is to FIX a cumbersome research system that pretty much EVERYONE in game agrees that it sucks! My attitude is I want this game working better overall so maybe it will actually survive. If it costs me some slight inconvenience so be it. I'd rather waste a week of EP and play a great and lasting game than 2 years of EP on a game that stops existing.

Lower your corp taxes and I'll think about it.

Friendly bump for new corps smile

I wouldn't call it "mandatory". Remember that in the new point-based production system that we have for a while now, if you already have a high efficiency, more points won't help as much.

i would call it mandatory for alpha/bete dweller then, and not mandatory for gamma dweller that can boost their stations points to about tripple of the maximum you could ever archieve on alpha.

Wait, you mean there an incentive to live on Gamma? Who knew! I guess there's a reason to take all the risk of death and all the costs of facilities and bases and terraforming.

+1

it isnt like i haven't requested that constantly.

i would add: merge chassis and cargo scanner! wasting one headslot for an almost useless equip module is already a penalty, but two...

i could also renew request: scanner = misc slot item, not headslot. but due to certain circustances, its hardly imaginable that we will see anything new that needs a 3D mesh...

Anni, after 17000 forum posts what HAVEN'T you requested constantly? smile just a friendly troll!
But seriously +1 to the op and +1 to making it a mid misc slot and +1 to being able to do it without the target knowing. Would make another excellent role for a good stealth EWar bot to perform.

Zoom the module page is fantastic!

I would love to see the same for MPC structures as well, ATM I can't always find their area of effect or amount of bonus per tier of structure ... Things like that.
I do admit other than helping build MPC structures I'm new to the colony management.
I just found it hard reading the info on the item in game to determine some of its parameters.  And having the manufacturing costs for each item on the same wiki page is excellent also smile

Yes - we want established / committed editors.

This explains A LOT -_-

yeah... i spent well over a hour trying to figure out how to post and gave up. the confusing part is having never edited/worked on  a wiki i didn't know i was missing buttons while signed in

Was finally going to write a proper character creation page which informed you on the roles of each race and how they play from low-mid-high grade EP. You know so players create a character and spend that EP mildly informed.

We let trolls go free and actual vets who wish to give a gift of information back cant even post.

If its not too much trouble maybe just pay $10 and resub so you can bless us with your knowledge rather than this bitter.

I can totally understand how you would find that unacceptable Ville.  Clearly apart from the Wiki ban his corp should boot him instantly, keep his stuff, and forever harrass him in game.  Or they might just do nothing.  But while we are discussing acceptable behavior ... racism in your corp is ok?  What would you do if one of your members repeated a racial epitath repeatedly?  Would that disgust you? Would you boot them?

I get we are adults playing the game, and some players on both sides seem to troll each other with lots of hate ... whatever .. its not kindergarten.

Your side uses names like Lolfizar, Foreskin, and one I actually lol'd at, xadofus.

But this? http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb3 … 20581A.jpg ...

Posted by .. you ... on our recruitment thread.
You use the term "Spictrion" constantly referring to Spectron ... but you are well aware what the term "spic" means in real life. Your the Ceo of your corp and supposed to lead.  Your corp's young up and coming PVP star, newish player BeastmodeGuNs, recently used this term in gen chat, I guess following guidelines for trolling that your corp feels is acceptable.

So what are you going to do about this?  Maybe clean up your own conduct, and your own corp trolling before you jump all over something that while it does deserve the first Wiki ban, doesnt need to get blown all out of proportion by someone who routinely does the same or worse in other areas.

Its a pot/kettle thing.

I like the game and I think its great.  Has lots of bugs, and code clearly needs to be fixed up some. But one of the few things in game that is perfect is the EP system.  Its fair to all, and encourages game loyalty.  From a business perspective, and dont forget Perpetuum IS A BUSINESS for the Devs and Avatar Creations, its the system on which they collect their money. Other than the occasional perk here and there, EP should remain constant and not be able to be "caught up".  You dont need EP equal to someone else to be as good as that person.

This unfortunately would require an entirely new set of physics .... What would happen if you didn't turn properly ... Would your bot tip over? Try on go up a slope, lose balance and roll all the way to the bottom ... Would you substaine damage? Far far too many things to consider by implementing "robotRacing" with real world physics ...

No thanks ...

That was my plated Mesmer ... and I had tha same on my side, no idea who was chasing me, their position updating only once every 2 - 3 minutes, my modules cyling and frozen, no idea if I was repping or out of accum, and yeah I made it almost 3/4 of the way across Hoop walking being chased by 7 people without dying ... that would be epic if it was under normal conditions, but with the lag it was just sad.

No player should have a larger voice than any other player in game.  But this occured in a fight that probably involved 30-40 of your most loyal customers ... it is something that should be found out exactly why it happened, and fixed so it doesnt happen again.

One aspect of this game is when it works the pvp is great.  There have been 2 large and great fights over the holidays where our side has won. It excites the blood and keeps the customers interested.  This time the other side was quite eager and capable to deliver an epic asswhooping on us, and it was messed by the conditions. Not fair for them or fun for anyone involved.

Just want to point out we already have an instanced mechanic ingame, that is unique to every player and takes place on the current map grid. It's called artifacting, and allows the player a chance at decent loots while also putting him at risk (if he wants) to other players. If new content also follows this template I'm happy.

To my in-game friends and enemies, and enemies that are friends, and the rest ..

Merry Christmas! and have a great holiday season smile

As a general statment on the game and such ...  Perpetuum is the only game I play (just testing PS2 but rarely)
and I am getting close to most of what I wanted to accomplish in this game, although my PvP needs lots of work.
That said, the waiting is starting to get to me.  The waiting for players, for development, for information, for the game to take off.

Im not ragequitting, or even quitting, but you all may find me less active in the future, and my accounts will stay subbed as long as I feel like it since it's quite cheap.

Anyways I'm off for Christmas and travelling to see the kids and wont be back for about a month, not sure if I'm taking the laptop with me, so now is a good a time for a "break" if any ...

Cheers all, and have a safe and happy holiday smile

Lol ... Like PvP, Gamma, and any bot other than an Arhke you comment on things you know nothing of  .....

Ewar bots by nature are fragile, even shielded ones (remember Anni in PvP other players may actually deploy Ictuses, unlike NPCs) ... They need their modules to be non dependant on LoS to be useful.

hmm, for some reason i think STC is not a good example for "new player vs. vets". Since STC came as an existing experienced group, with a relatively good timezone coverage.

IMHO EP gap is not the main reason for hesitation. replacement of equipment is it. You go into a battle with a completely different mentality when you just dont have to care about what you lose, because youre corp-carebears behind 500m tall dirtwalls will work on your replacement drive.

last but not least - pvp battles are completely different from PvE battles - you cannot even train tactics against npcs.

*edit: before DEVs get the idea that they need to take out the instant loss of the robot from the game - no, thats not it! thats an even worse interpretation of the situation then the 20k EP bonus for subscription...*

You're further off-base than normal, if that's even possible.

As far as PvP in bots you don't care about because the Indy corp members simply make you new ones ... Lol. Any player who fights with that mentality wouldn't be invited on future roams. In most battles I've been in its not the EP or the bot that is the only factor in winning or losing, but the FC and the understanding of tactics, and the ability to think. I've met lots of new players who can think, and therefore are more than useful in PvP.

Also STC is an excellent example. When they first joined Perp they were almost all noobs, and generally refused help from vets (my self and some of my friends in WAR offered some stuff and advice that was politely declined) and they created their corp forged on their own experiences. Their current state includes some core members plus some experienced players from other group, and this is a good thing too.

I could care less if I lose a bot in combat, because I like the fact that I can die, otherwise this game would get boring fast ... And I like a tough enemy, one that can challenge me ... I use expensive stuff all the time, not because I'm rich or don't care, just because I want to be the most effective or the best challenge to my foes ... You want my stuff, kill my bot smile

Anni why should you be able to fit t4 anything on an Arhke? Who cares if it has fitting problems and other nerfs, it's the goddamn free starting robot ...

And now for hopefully something productive and related to the topic.

Since the Greenlight exposure the game has had a decent influx of new players. I have found myself on several occasions convo-ing a new player who was a bit lost ... And explaining how things work, even coming to help him with some missions for hours on end to push them in the right direction and accelerate their learning curve so hopefully they stick. I should also add I haven't given any of these players a recruitment pitch, I'm just volunteering my time and nic to simply help noobs and hopefully strengthen the health of the game in the long run. I am by no means the only "regular" to do this; I'm well aware of most vets, friends or foes, that do this also.

But, perhaps a better tutorial, maybe an easier interface with better information and easier to search, is required for the newbs. Some don't understand the basic game concepts, basic fitting  requirements, etc. Assignments in particular seem to be lacking enough info, even for a vet familiar with in game terminology. Case in point are the missions that allow them to be completed on the area of the island ... There are no map indicators that the entire island is in play, only the wording of the mission, which isn't actually clear. Second example is I helped someone attempt to complete a daily mission kill quota ... There was no indication that the player was searching for a dynamic spawn, or any idea that there are several types of npc spawns in game ... I spent hours with this player attempting to find him the correct spawns on alpha 1 ... This was a level 1 mission, in contrast I can run level 6 missions much much faster.

Even myself with knowledge of roaming, dynamic, static, and mission spawns have a hard time recognizing instantly which ones I need to work on .... I have a hard time remembering what it was like in the beginning with no experience to draw upon.

So there's a suggestion in here somewhere. Revamp the tutorials and the information available to the new player, so it gives him a better sense of the nuances of the game.

Thanks, Cass

Come, come to the dark side. Wait, I mean the right side. And by right I mean the correct side, not the opposite of left side. What I really mean is we are the good side.

Hmmm, I still can't figure out why you guys don't want me helping with recruiting ....

Doek, I forgot to update my spreadsheet ...

So O Negative, 5'10, 84kg, hangs left.

Probably because the only mineral that requires a mining tower nearby is colixum, everything else can be mined the normal way and quickly. The logistics and time and resources to build a mining tower near a field negates its use everywhere.

Disclaimer: not a huge miner so I could be wrong on the mechanics here.
