Winning.

Yeah I don't mind the ums at all actually, I more thought it was funny that you consciously mentioned it in the podcast and then totally failed like seconds later.  You can keep doing it forever as far as I'm concerned, everyone else does.

The audio thing is more important but easier to fix.

So we only talk about the bad things but that doesn't mean there aren't many many more good things than bad; we just don't mention those smile

I smell troll.

But seriously, you don't even have to "buy" the game, you just pay the monthly fee and get the game for free.  I bought Rift just to check it out, that was $50.  Assuming OP is a legitimate potential player, you have enough curiosity and interest in the game to get $10 out of it.  That's the price of seeing a movie or going to a cheap restaurant.  You'll get more than that out of 30 days in Perpetuum.  Stop being cheap and pay up for what you clearly are enjoying.

instead of saying no room when transferring that it just auto splits what I'm dragging and dropping into the cargo bay to fit the remaining space.

Again, I'm playing devil's advocate as I think this is a solution looking for a problem, but I really don't think there would be anything wrong with paid EP resets granted that they are stupid expensive and possibly also have a cooldown.  The only compelling argument I've heard is that they would lessen the gravity of training a skill, and that is valid.  But it would still be a big deal to reverse it.

Arga wrote:

As I noted above, you'll totally gimp your character if you try to change from combat to indy (or vice versa) because of the EP cost reduction you get from your initial corp/spark

Disagree.  Robot control skills require Mechatronics, even for Industrial.  Combat toons need armor repair and electronics/engineering skills which require Heavy Industry/Research & Development requirements.

I think the devs did a great job of building the game in such a way that anyone can do anything.  Yes, if you have ALL Tactics & Mechatronics you will train gun skills faster, but you'll lose that time training your fitting and tanking skills, ECM, tackling, etc.

You are all being very polite not pointing out Gremrod's COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE to eliminate uh and um from his vocabulary about 3 seconds after bringing it up.  And also, Gremrod, while you aren't getting too quiet randomly anymore, you're now just overall too loud, there's a tiny bit of distortion when you speak that isn't there for Kalsius.  I know it's nitpicking but something to look at.  Should just be able to turn down sensitivity a bit.

But seriously guys good work, keep it up!

I suspect Jelan is subetly trolling...a feature which is attractive doesn't mean people will pay for money.  Lithus is attractive and expensive but no one is saying that is creating gold farmers.  Attractive, expensive features are good and totally separate from gold farming concerns.  By this logic we should remove anything anyone wants that costs NIC.

Arga, the scenario you outline would be insanely expensive, far more costly than any benefit from the production you would ultimately create.  The OP said 25mil NIC starting, getting more costly each time.

Personally, I don't see a huge need for this, but I don't think it would hurt anything either.  NIC sinks are good.  I might even do it myself just to fix a couple little things.  If it's going to make the difference between someone leaving the game or not because they messed up and don't want to start over (after the 45 days), then why not?  I see only good that can come of it.

I like semi-automatic.  But, I think that regardless of personal preference it is the best choice, because completely free requires you to do work to get it to be useful, and not everyone wants to have that level of involvement.  And mixed will be overwhelming for some people, who just want a nice list of results (especially new players potentially).

Semi-automatic includes the ability to create custom folders, so those who want separate tabs or whatever can do so, those who don't care will have something usable out of the gate, and those like me who just want Area --> Ore will have that.

Moderate is the first word that comes to mind when I think of Jelan.

So just responding to the realism side of this idea, imagine a robot constructed of fragile complex electronics.  This would have relatively few "hit points."  Then you layer on armor, multiple inches thick, maybe more.  This robot could take abuse until that armor was destroyed, at which point it would be extremely easy to destroy.  But while the armor was being depleted, all that delicate equipment inside is still completely functional.  The ARMOR being damaged isn't damaging the movement systems or rate of fire, only the armor itself.  All of the damage to functionality happens all at once after the armor is gone.

Think about a human wearing armor, they aren't bleeding and losing health because their plate armor is getting dented, only once there is a hole in the armor do they start taking significant damage.

And from a balance perspective I agree with everyone who posted before me.

Well wait, why do we care if trial accounts receive lots of NIC?  They still have no way of transferring that NIC to someone else?  I thought we were worried about the trial accounts farming gold, not existing players doing it and transferring it to a trial?

In my example the trial player buys the titan ore, which means the trial player gets the titan and the NIC goes from the trial player to the non-trial player, not the other way around.

Ah ok, that makes sense.  I was looking at it from the other angle where the trial can sell items but not buy, so they could accrue NIC but not transfer it.  But there would be little point of that if they can't use the NIC for anything anyway, unless they knew they were going to subscribe.

In which case they could just subscribe.

You can't ever have that back.

Corps may purchase other corps for the sum of all of the corp's NIC and all of its members' NIC combined.  Taken-over corp members become drafted into the buyer's corp and are not given the option to leave the corp for one calendar year.  While in the new corp, they must do Jelan's...I mean the new corp's, bidding.

This will undoubtedly stimulate the economy and fix everything wrong with everything.

Loving the podcast.  Thanks for the direct mp3 link, onto a USB drive and into car stereo, several trips to and from work burns up an hour+ podcast quick.

Disagree with requests to separate podcast into multiple podcasts with different topics.  Podcast should cover all aspects of the game.  However, maybe focus on one or two topics each time, and leave others for next episode.  This way, developments in different areas have time to accrue in between you covering them, and you don't have to be scrambling for material each time (which I suspect will get harder as time goes on).  Also, if someone doesn't care about market or politics, they can see which episodes will cover those and skip them or parts of them.

Length should probably be shorter, like I said it doesn't bother me since I listen in the car over multiple sittings, but you may start to hurt for material eventually.  If you have a fairly fixed time for the podcast, people can get into the habit of listening at the gym, or in the car, or whenever they have about that much time to listen.

Also I think one interview is sufficient per podcast, either a corp or an individual, not both.

One last thought; this might be irrelevant but I'll mention it anyway.  Talking in detail about future changes to the game as posted on the dev blog limits your ability to talk about them when they are put in game.  For example, I listened to this podcast a little after it came out, and you discussed the cancellation of kernel buy orders and addition of a new drop.  You theorized about what this drop could be and how it would work.  Well, when I listened, it was already in game, and I already knew all the answers.  It is still the most recent episode even though I am a little late to the party.  Also, next episode, you will probably not want to spend a lot of time on the subject since you already did last time, otherwise you are covering the same thing twice.  Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me you want to cover things as they are added, and maybe just a very quick overview of ideas mentioned in dev blogs.

Please don't take my tl;dr post as meaning there are lots of things to fix, I love the podcast and would keep listening if it stayed exactly as it is.  Keep up the good work!

Maybe a hybrid of current system and Eve's system.  You can set a skill to train and your 1 EP per minute goes directly into the skill, can not be removed.  But if you turn training off, or the skill finishes training to the next level, you resume accruing EP like you do now.

While that would be cool, I think the current system is fine, and if it aint broke don't fix it applies.

Interesting.  I was under the impression you needed more than one sale for stuff to show up on the rates tab, unless you are looking somewhere else?

Under the 'main' chart there is a chart of volume and volume can be 1. As far as I understand one sale is enough to show up on the rates tab.

I have already bought 3 tunings (2 of them by my buy order) but I won't buy t4 miners for 7kk+. In my opinion t4 miners must be cheaper then tunings because otherwise there is no motivation for miners to buy it (tunings provide much more essential benefit).

Wow so you got them for like 2mil then right? I think I saw that buy order.

You've sold one of each.

It seems that they haven't. They decreased position of t4 miner modules from 30 to 29 but there are no deals at any terminal or outpost on charts. Moreover, on global chart one t4 tunung is sold but not at icsa where they have sell order. In my opinion they try to make illusion of selling these items for 10kk but they made several mistakes (no or wront data on charts).

You've sold one of each.

If you don't want money why are they up for sale at all?  Obviously money is worth something to you or you wouldn't be...selling them.

We will buy your T4 miners and T4 indy tunings, but not for 10m each.  Can we meet somewhere in the middle?

You can make a lot of money during this window of opportunity where you are the only ones making them.  You could move one or two at 10m, or you could move 50 at 3m.  Do the math.

In a few weeks you will have to deal with competition, so there's that to consider too.
