Bump cause there still isn't a stickied mining guide

On the Agent Profile screen, Extensions tab.  When sorting by "EP", the game sorts Alphabetically, not Numerically.  So sorting Descending, extensions costing 9000 EP will show at the top, while extensions costing 10000 EP will be beneath them.  Likewise, when sorting by Ascending, 1000 would show before 110.

Nice to see this is still up here.  This forum must not get a lot of action, not stickied but still on the main page smile

Thanks for the support.  Updated the base yields to be correct and removed the warning.  Let me know if there's anything else I can add for you guys.

It is.  But I think my other laptop is too...

Oh well, looks like no Perpetuum for me until I get back to the States.

This is probably not a bug, but I don't know what other forum to post it in.  I have a new laptop and am getting an error when starting the game:

"Perpetuum requires 2.0 vertex shaders for optimal performance.  Do you want to continue?"

When I click yes I get:

"Error while initializing DirectX!  Try running Perpetuum in Safe mode."

I get the same thing in safe mode.  DirectX is installed and is the newest version.  Is this a hardware issue (doesn't support certain video chipsets?)

Ral, those base yeilds are pre-expansion numbers.

I haven't tested the new numbers, but they should be 1.5 times higher.

Which is exactly why I didn't want to add ANY specific numbers or information that would have to be updated every time there's a patch.  But someone requested it so I obliged.

There will always be this decision looming as long as resets exist.  If you respec to yellow you will miss green.  So cut your losses and save your reset until you have a REALLY good reason to use it, not just a grass is always greener (or yellower as the case may be).

And you shouldn't need a reset to use destroyers or anything else that gets added to the game; the game will still be designed to allow anyone to do anything without needing a reset.

When I login with the wrong password, the client hangs for 1-2 minutes then goes through the disconnect process and tells me the server is down or my connection died.

It took me about 10 tries before I realized I had changed my password, then I got right in.

Maybe an incorrect password error would be helpful (assuming this is a bug and not a feature request).

I am not seeing % Yield while mining HDT

One of my miners keeps losing its graphic...the little grey progress bar that goes left to right.  It is still mining, but there is no graphic on it.

The laser itself still shows.

Same with miners?  Can deploy, get slight buffs to mining, but becoming mobile again takes at least 30 seconds so they are more vulnerable.

Siege tank idea sounds awesome.  It should be a class of bot, not a module, imo.

That's interesting, but in general I don't think the economy needs artificial stimulation to keep prices at a certain level.  If prices do fall that low, people will think of better things to do with ore to make more money.

If you think about it, basic seeded items like mining charges are already creating price floors (and ceilings), just less directly.

Edit: Also I think your maths are off.  A 50% yield increase wouldn't equate to a 50% reduction in cost, a 100% yield increase would cause cost to drop by half, because in theory there would be twice as much available, so it would be worth half as much.

Right?

Devs please ignore this thread and go back to adding POS.

Thank you smile

Yeah for my specific setup.  I am in a Termis but I do have most of the broad Intensive skills to 4 or 5.  I saw my miners go from 75 AP a cycle to 67.50 AP per cycle.  When I removed one T4 recharger I was just under being cap-stable.  I think I cycle somewhere in the high 7 seconds.

If you didn't level Intensive at all you might be able to free up a leg slot now.  Or if you are in a Riveler.  I haven't run all the numbers, but my point is the change isn't "now you can run miners all day long with no planning".  It's just a nice boost to add some flexibility.  I could probably use T3 rechargers, or an expander in place of one of them, etc.

*note all these numbers are off the top of my head and could be completely wrong*

Ore will get cheaper, but dont forget that you're mining faster, so you will have the same income with the same spent time.

I covered this earlier.  If prices go down proportional to the increase in ore yields, then the net change is more work for the same money.  When you consider you have to move to find fields and haul the extra ore, you are spending less time actually mining, so you are still making less money, albeit only slightly less.  But you are doing more work for that money.

We used to have a referral program before free trials were added.  It would be cool to see it come back in some way.

Giving away bots is probably not attractive since a huge part of the game's appeal is the player-driven economy.  Anything that interferes with that is a negative.  It's more likely they would give out free game time for successful referrals.

Definitely agree on getting the word out there though.  We have some banner ads on mmorpg.com (maybe the one you misclicked smile ).

Now that I've seen it in person, it's not world-ending, but I still think it will drive prices down in general.  This is great for everyone except people making money from mining.  Bots will be cheaper, ammo will be cheaper, modules will be cheaper.  This is good for the game.  But if you were mining ore and selling it for money, this hurts you.

But I guess if it is good for the game as a whole, we can take one for the team.

TIMERS ON FIELD CONTAINERS?!?!?!  Did anyone else see that?!

Well I still need all three T4 rechargers.  But it does leave some more wiggle room.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking.  Depends how much the accumulator need is lessened.  I can think of all sorts of things to do with some leg slots.

It says miners and harvesters, not reppers.  Reppers will use the same accumulator.

Ooh ooh, let's play "Find Errors In The Online Help"!  I love this game!

Not that that specifically is incorrect.  But I don't trust it.
