Anyone care to elaborate on what happened last night at approx 7:00 CET?

Or at least over a certain point like 1.0 average corp standing.  Dont make it too easy to get endless mk2's, even though soon they will be completely useless other than placeholders when moving bots around in storage and you need to be in some robot.

Have 'invisible' containers inside a storage that is designated as level 1-4.  When the storage manager (or one with certain rights) puts items into each of these containers, they appear to be in the same container for everyone else.  This keeps everything into 1 main folder, but can filter out higher level items for those without access.  Level 1's would only see level 1 folder contents, but level 3 would see 1-3 all in that 1 folder.

Heres a quick illustration:

Storage:  Robots
[level 1 folder]Light bots
[level 2 folder]Assaults
[level 3 folder]Mechs
[level 4 folder]Heavy Mechs

Players accessing the folder:

Level 1 member:  sees only light bots in the storage

Level 2 member:  sees light and assault bots in the storage

etc, etc.

This hides the organization of the level designations, and keeps people from having to sift through different levels of storage just to find 1 item, because they dont know which level its in.  Everything could be held in the same storage regardless of access level, and it would be filtered out automatically.

The fix to this would be to fix the disconnects, not spend the time on this 'solution' that simply aims to ignore the fact that there are still disconnects and crashes.

List/detail option with multiple sorting categories please.

Theres no instant escape from a fight.  There are teleports but you obviously have to run to them.  You just seem to be posting this "woe is me!" post where its completely unnecessary.

Its probably because you are under the misconception that this game is just like EvE.  I'm sorry that someone convinced you of that.

It would be interesting if they eventually locked you out of facilities and eventually the entire terminal, but. That would mean never getting that back.  So, just can't use facilities at all if it gets low enough.

You have to mine in shifts?  I'm sorry.

I'm concerned that some of the parts of EVE that I quite disliked (for instance, the fact that playing the game consisted primarily of waiting because of how many set-and-forget mechanics there were) are in Perpetuum.

Sandbox PvP tends to be a bad idea in game design because it ensures the least fun battles are those that happen most often. In a PvP sandbox, there's no reason to fight when you can't win (unless you can't escape). The game naturally devolves into what is essentially ganking because it's pointless to fight when you have the option of safely retreating in the face of even (or worse) odds.

I've made a couple of blog posts on this topic that, if you're interested in a critique of open world PvP games, you should check out:

Sandbox MMO Design Problems

Those concerns and criticisms aside, there should definitely be more MMOs similar to EVE in terms of complexity and depth.

We dobt have warp here, bro.

If we did, I assure you GG wouldn't have lost all theor bots in the fight and we wouldn't have lost 3 in the first fight.

Play the game before posting next time.

There's actually only 11 real people playing EVE-Online with a lot of alts.

And this entire thread is being responded to with only my alts.

Luckily you can grind up a new one fairly quickly with the tutorial missions.  Just make an alt and run them again and trade everything back to your main when done.

GF GG.  You have a lot to learn in PvP, but you show promise.  We are glad to have you as neighbors.  Hopefully you can afford to have M2S as your neighbors.

It can still be calculated by the cubes, if only the LOS cubes were calculated 1 level lower than the actual ground.  Basically, the edge of the cubes would hopefully rest near or below the terrain level in most cases except for extreme slopes.

Right now the problem is its like we're fighting on stairs that are raised above the ground level, so if it touches the end of those stairs, it wont hit.

Medium reppers arent as efficient because then the small reppers would have no use on mechs and stuff.  People still use small reppers on mechs for the lower fittings and weight, as well as more efficient accumulator use.  Sure, these are out of combat repairs but they are still great.

The medium repairers are for combat use so you can repair more quickly but will sacrifice accumulator.  If you make them too efficient you will have everyone constantly running their repairers without a thought.

The point of view that Tiller is coming from though is using a T1 small armor repairer on a character with 1 month of EP in a light bot.  Even a Castel who uses nearly no acc for weapons cant run that thing more than about 3 cycles in a row without draining itself.

You simply just dont have the proper perspective to judge an entire range of armor repairers in the entire game.

Move to Hungary.

I dont believe they are being reimbursed.  This could be easily exploited if someone was just an idiot and wanted to get his bot back free without having a problem.

Ex:  Siddy is over confident in his Prometheus and decides to take on a few Supreme Grizzly's by himself.  He soon realizes he is overwhelmed and he cannot escape with his life.  He then closes his client before he dies, then cries to the devs that he crashed and deserves to get his bot back.

THe only way this sort of thing could be verified was if you sent the crash report when it happened.  They may be able to look up logs of the crash report, who it came from, and match it with your accounts bot being killed.

There will not be any more servers, as this game relies on a single unified community.  There will likely be better servers when they can afford and need it, which may result in better pings.  TBH, I havnt never worried too much about pings, unless it gets to over 400 or something.  I pity you if you have to deal with 400+ pings constantly.

Get a sensor and get more accelerated target locking. If that still doesn't work, get a second sensor. No one should be able to tap 2 mobs before you can tap one.

I can target and tag 3 NPCs in no more than 1 second longer than it would have taken me to target 1.

Select -> R -> Select -> F -> Select -> F

(wait for timer to wind down)

1 Tab R 2 Tab R 3.    BOOM! 3 NPC's all tagged by me.  If you have anything more than a couple seconds longer locking time than me or so, I will get the spawn.

If you really are having trouble getting spawns, just go somewhere else.  I've been to some spawns where the other player beats me every time to the spawn.  I decided not to spend as much EP on targetting speed as he did, so he had the advantage.  I accept this and move on, or wait for things to clear up enough that theres enough spawns to satisfy both of us at the same time.

This is part of the game.  Get used to it.

There was an error in the accumulation of EP, causing some accounts to get 3x the normal rate.

You spent that extra EP you shouldnt have had, then the server was patched and the error fixed, and you would have been left with negative EP to make up for the extra EP you had already spent.

You did not lose any EP and you did not ever stop gaining EP.  Just consider yourself lucky you got to use that extra EP earlier than most!

Seems like Google deserves your NIC.

"Isnt this game just EvE with mechs?  Srsly, they must have just copied the source code and added the ground in.  The Devs have no creativity and should be burned at the stake, but not before CCP sues them to get the money AC stole from their potential audience!"

"But, most of the Devs have never even seen stEVE, and a lot of the mechanics and UI came out the same because thats just the best way to do it.  Great minds think alike!"

"Even if they did take some 'inspirations' from eve, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  They should embrace the likeness of the two games and use it to their advantage!"

Which viewpoint will reign supreme?  Only YOUR flames stand between public ridicule and popular opinion!

The forums just didnt feel the same without this thread.  For those of you who are feeling nostalgic, missed out on the beta, or just have way too much time on your hands, here's the OP:

Q: Why do you hate my guild?
A: It’s not hate, it’s disgust. Your guild is not breaking any rules, but your spawn hogging, name calling, trashtalking, and general all around *** is actively driving away other customers, and there are more of them than there are of you. Although I admit I laughed at the log where you pretended to be Chinese gold farmers, I didn’t think the resulting uproar was all that funny.

This seems all too familiar.....

I just star all of the extensions that my agent uses.  From there I have no problem finding what I need.  This clears up a lot of the clutter and the extensions that your agent will never ever touch.  Out of sight, out of mind.

Electronics: head slot item related, cpu based, ewar
Engineering: leg slot item related, reactor based

Sounds good to me.  Containers that become open to anyone should also appear for this filter.  Maybe green for owned (you, squad, etc) cans, and yellow for unlocked ones or something.
