Another issue is you can constantly click on anomalies to jump around regardless of instability or syndicate protection.  You can use these anomalies to constantly have syndicate protection and avoid PvP.

Good change with the PvP flag and intrusions Zoom

I am with Beastmode on this one....I think L-Demobs should NOT be LOS.  It gives a another good dimension to PvP.  Please consider leaving it as it is instead of changing it back.  This is NSE's official stance on this matter.

Are you implementing turrets shooting NPCs in Gamma on this patch?

Drop all the crap the industrials are supposed to make, like the colossal amounts of T1 and boost what industrials need. Kernels, fragments, decoders. Occasional item isn't bad.

I would also like if the Beta Observers or whatever you will have running there had a very rare chance of dropping something nice, like a Cortex or an MK2 CT.

+1000.....or a T4+ item from Observers.

Why not make the ingame mechanic the same as the Sequer.nl mechanic????

Zoom, is this something that could be implemented as a trial maybe ? or is the underlying changes too complex for that ?

Well maybe it could work as a PvE-only feature, meaning only if you are destroyed by an NPC.

edit: or simply limited to alpha islands.

This would probably be closer to the lore as well. The Syndicate only reimburses losses made by the pesky aliens, not by enraged humans smile

I agree, not during PvP and not on Beta/Gamma.  Looks like most people agree here.....

Blocker, I know that new corporations are the future and creating a fun ecosystem for them to thrive in is the way to pull the game out of the trench. I didn't make the thread to push for unlocking, I only wanted to show that getting started on more entertaining content than Alpha is too hard.

Hopefully there's someone with a great idea that's easy to implement with a potential to make the game fun for new corporations, or at least get people thinking about it.

Yep I understand that the thread is not about unlocking, and the actual unlocking part will only impact those new players who want to go to beta. But if you nerf Alpha then you are, in effect, forcing  them into beta.

This will fail, and all they will do is leave, isn't this supposed to be a sandbox ?

If you want corps to build up slowly, make it harder for them to do industry. If you want them to build quickly, make it easier for them to do industry. It's not rocket science.

[edit] just as an afterthought, making industry harder also has the potential to contribute to players leaving. Making it easier may actually keep them interested longer because they can see progress. They may actually stay in the game longer., and the longer they stay the more opportunity to encourage them to PVP.

Keeping Alpha 1's the way it is now should make it easy for new corps to succeed.  However PURPOSEFUL progression is needed to make them stick around and want to get to beta and gamma.

Wondering what people here think is the time required for a new corporation to become competitive against veteran corporations on Beta, and growing the power needed to claim an outpost. Not talking about becoming one of a select few pet/proxy corporation to a select few Beta owning corporations, but about the general average mass of corporations that should be populating the game.

How much time does it take for a new corporation to claim a Beta?

Well, NSE was probably the last corp to do this.  We started in September 2014 as NSE, we moved around a bit in between but finally went to Brightstone in December 2014, so this was 3 months.  And to stop you haters from hating, this was before we had any involvement with CIR as you will see from the December killboards in 2014 as we got *** ***.  We just had good leadership, 30+ active players doing all facets of the game.  We had a few vets, from years past (Like myself) but n one over 800k when we moved out to Beta.   Once we were in beta we lived at Brightstone until we moved to gamma with help from CIR.  Our move to gamma would not have happened until lots later if it weren't for their help.

All these changes you guys are talking about keep increasing the risk of using BEta and thus will lower the usage.  Please start talking about how we can increase the REWARD of being on BETA.....we need to make it more worthwhile being out there.

Why not just use relations settings???? Oh wait, that is there already.....

Dear Dev Zoom,

Please listen to Ville's idea and consider the potential that players can help out in designing new islands and assets, particularly given the fact that most vets around here used to terraform islands as part of their gameplay and they obviously liked it.

While I do not particularly believe that station unlocks would result in a mass exodus from Alpha to Beta Islands, I think it's a good idea to put in NPC stations just like beta 1 and see what happens. In such case I think 2 stations are ideal and I would go as far as say they should be reasonably close to each other so as to lessen the problems with station games.

I believe that as some people said, firstly it is a problem of population (which you just need to advertise etc) and secondly it is a problem of a small game world (spark teleports - few islands - small islands, easy to set scout eyes etc..) Please remember that Eve has hundreds of constellations and traveling the universe from one edge to the other takes hours. I remembering riding in darkfall and it took like 5 1/2 hours in real time to ride from one end to the other. A large game world would give opportunities for groups of players to find their own corner sort to speak. It also helps with regionalisation, be it resources, trade, market etc. As it stands now, I can be in Shinjalar or hershfield in a matter of 20 mins tops? 10 seconds with sparks.

My solution is perhaps a bit out of the box, as it would need to create smething like this:

http://i.imgur.com/rZSnAst.jpg

You will have a very large island like twice as large as gammas or perhaps larger.
Divided geographically into 3 main sections (where role wise the factions all wanted to set a foothold on the new territory)
You will have 6 NPC stations, and one very large in the center (like 3X the size of tellesis station)
While GAMMA islands are all about production, base building, Fortress fighting, nora farming, artifact hunting - this central DELTA island will be all about the Ultimate NPC hunting, so you will have:
- NPCS that drop tons of plasma,
- Small groups of T5 npcs like 2 or 3 max that a solo player can take them
- All npcs roaming so you are constantly on the move.
- Best mission rewards from npc stations.
- Same pvp ruleset like BETA
- Ability for people to put up few buildings like gamma like just small towers for example (open to discussion)
- Some terminals sprinkled all over the map so players can 'bank' their spoils while pveing but cannot dock inside for safety should pvp occur.

- Anton

You have some good ideas but this should be posted in a seperate topic.  This thread is all about changing the viability of Betas.

+1 great talk guys, lets get some of these things done Dev Z, and get this game back to where it should be!

Has Avatar ever explored raising station stabilities to like 500?  Increasing the rewards for SAP and station bonuses along the way?  100 is very easy to obtain imho, and gives something for a corp to achieve especially if they can only have 1 station per island.......

We all want the same thing.  A better game, the status quo is not working; however, I believe station locks will only hinder new entities not provide emergent gameplay.

Yeah station locks should be optional at 70% and higher with bonuses to those who choose to NOT lock their stations.  Also, if it is optional, make a 24 hour period that would be required to turn them on ( a lock down timer of sorts) so people have the ability to remove assets before being locked out.

Ville wrote:

So..  I just had this crazy thought since we are onto missions now, what happens when everything turns into roaming mobs and your trying to do a L5 combat and roaming mobs roll up on you?

You get effed up hard....it happened to me on alpha 2, farming static orange spawns and got add from the roaming ORANGE pack.......this is why you have to hugely increase beta drops as the risks are so huge out there, not even taking PvP into account.

Fully agree tbh. Most of that isn't too far away from development time either. Unlock beta 1 and get working on this please

I agree with all but #1.  All #1 does is encourage multi corp alliances like 133/77/PHM/CIR etc or creation of shell corporations.

Also, keep in mind, the more delicious you make Beta, less less attractive Gamma becomes.  Gamma already is a ghost town, so some increntive needs to be placed there to as there is a risk too.  Albeit, the reward should not be as high as Beta as Beta risk is definitely higher than Gamma risk.  If you make Beta industry higher than gamma then WTF is the point of being in gamma.  Make station industry on Beta coincide with the station stability (add a multiplier so if you are at 50% you get a 50% bonus, 100% is 100% bonus).  This would make the max beta industry amount 250, which is 2/3 of a t3 gamma station (which should be higher based on all the work required to make and get it).  You could make a little larger multiplier for beta 2's and you can give a larger multiplier IF a corporation CHOOSES to unlock the station.  You could also increase the other station bonuses if the station is unlocked by the owner.

Just more ideas.....just do something, it is your game Avatar, just choose something and go with it and sort out the issues later if any arise.
