is the server down right now?

Jita this game needs revenue.

Perp needs Alpha like EvE needs hi sec and that 85% subscriber base that never leaves it. Along with the pve alts that pay for the pvp in low and null. I know its buy to play soon, but same applies, it needs the carebear bodies buying EP boosts.

Most MMO games allow you to respec. What is the difference here or really why is the EP reset such a bad idea?

Honestly, with all the changes previously I dont see a problem with one FREE EP reset at Steam launch, but unlimited ability for EP resets at a cheap cost A) negates any thought or persistence required when allocationg EP and B) allows either a tactical FOTM advantange or an exploitive advantage if a loophole in a game mechanic is discovered and not yet patched. Even though no one has never not yet done this previously. roll

I really think monocles for our avatars. But priced at a $1 per. This would be popular, and funny, on so many different levels. That said as just mentioned, new avatar faces, plus cosmetic changes to them.

What about SpT slot Boost? Like EP, its something everyone wants more of, and I guess like an EP Boost, its something people would probably pay to have more of. Maybe a monthly pack of 5 slots for $5 bucks?

And before everyone jumps on the political bandwagon ... I just thought of this now .... not saying I want it, but just thinking it be a commodity people would want, seeing as travel sucks ....

And since travel sucks ... Station port on Demand? buy in packs of 5 uses for $10 bucks. Ports you and ANY open container you have back to Station on your current island, one minute warm up. Cannot be used while in combat (either NPC or PvP), and cancelled if engaged before warm up  (intended as a fast travel mechanic, not a "save my shiny" mechanic) Useful for remote mining and missions that are far from home.

And speaking of "save my shiny" ... does exactly that ... but only for player under 240 k EP.  10 "saves" for $20, cannot be used on a PvP kill, replaces the bot and mods into the terminal you find yourself in, if done within 15 minutes of PVE death. Meant to be a  Noob hybrid of insurance and the inevitable can recovery missions newbs find themselves on after they die. Please note .. since the game considers a PvP encounter that ends with victim running into NPCs to avoid KM a PVE death this death would be eligeble but only include mods not looted ... so would need to be used right away before vultures picked your carcass clean in any death situation. Please note #2 .. sorry cargo not included. Noobs have to learn some pain.

Maybe controversial ideas, but IMO every one better than EP resets for cash.

+100

Edit, +20/20

Now I'm pretty sure here at STC we were quite open and up front about greased midget sex.

I Sir, take exception to you calling it our seedy underbelly.

Zoom, EP resets ...

Give Lifetime accounts one free reset. There have been enough changes since the last time EP resets were available that makes this actually fair. While a free game for all subbed vets is nice, most of us deserve a little more love than just the game for only 3 months time.

Charge $50 at your store for another EP reset, and limit it to once per year.

If EP resets cost money, as well as EP, even 10% of my EP, I would never do it.
I want moar EP not less, which is why even my high EP accounts will pay for the EP boost after April 2nd

Just my 2 cents.

Edited bump for a difficult and skilled enemy smile

Possible. Hint with mining: Mine into can until you have enough U to fill your hauler, drop mobile tele, return to station, come back with hauler and return to station (via tele if its still there)

Profit.

Edit:

Sequer: 80u
Lithus:  240u
Scarab: 720u

Mk2 variants carry 25% more.

Edit Edit:

Field cans cost 4000 Nic
Standard mobile Teles cost 50000 Nic, 3 minutes to charge, last 15 minutes (includes charge time)
As mentioned mineral fields randomly spawn. But if you are doing a typical mining OP finding a field out of the way, mining 20-50 mill minerals using field cans and haulers really cuts down on the overall travel time. Logically most mineral spawns closest to the starting Alpha main terminals are the first to be mined. Find your little corner away from that with a nice deposit and mine away.

So with the obvious pink bots I thought you were asking for an actual Pimp bot, ie fur coat, medallions, shades, outrageous hat, low rider caddy. But pimped out bots is a good idea too.

Essentially, new business model ...

You get 1440 EP per day free, as long as you show your face (after 3 total months of sub time or game purchase)

You get 2160 EP per day, for a month, if you want to pay around $10

You choose. Its actually not a bad idea, IMO.

How much will it cost?
How often can it be used?

Too many people have valid concerns, please clear this up.

I suggested :

$50 for EP reset, max once per year
$1 for 3 level downgrade of Extensions
$10 for EP monthly boost

Additionally, will you allow character transfer, in a public manner, with the ability to pay for a name change?
I suggested $30 to do this, along with whatever the owner of the character wants to sell him for. The current grey area for account "gifting" is far too vague and ripe for abuse.

A reply here would be nice.

Monocle prices?? huh??

$80 for a monocle on your avatar that does nothing v $50 for an EP reset that completely allows you to make high EP character into anything you want. I see the connection.

roll

EP gain concerns: One of the reasons why we're doing this change is to make us able to grow, both population and content wise. We're perfectly aware that we need to put in new content requiring new extensions to avoid EP "deflation".

Item costs: soon.

Character transfer: this is technically impossible because of the nature of the account-based EP system.

If the Character transfer reply was for my question, you know I am referring to the Account "Gifting".
If I wasn't clear, please change my question to

With name changes will you have a valid public method to sell Accounts, lets say for a $30 flat fee to PO, plus whatever nic/Items the owner wishes, rather than the current grey area we have for account "gifting"

Sorry Zoom I'm sure you don't want to have to police something like this but the reality is you are going to have to in some way, might as well make it as easy as possible to do it.

Umm, lets say the Gamma experience goes smoothly, and is ready to be repopulated immediately. Having whatever stuff currently on Gamma returned to a terminal at the exact same time as Gamma is ready to be repopulated leaves no time for logistics to be organized for these assets to be used again.  Could the reimbursement be done a week before?

Once again asking for easy mode, Can't you go without trying to get an easy edge over everyone and just wait until steam launch date :s

WTF are you talking about? I'm not asking for easy mode. Get your political head out of your *** and think about the logistics for a second. We are not the only corp with stuff in Gamma that will be moved when wiped. We already have enough *** on Alpha to build 5 gamma bases on day one if required. Other people may not have, and they still have assets and structures on Gamma. And they may need those structures to start their new base when the wipe, resettlement hits. With the terraforming changes if this wipe happens at the same time Gamma is reopened, my scarabs and construction bots will already have the prime locations under base construction while the person who needs the reimbursed structures will still be trying to sort the gear and load it into their bots.

Stop making stupid political comments. Try thinking a little for once.

I am going to say something unpopular, but realistic.  You need to scale your maximum ep gain to the current system.  The base rate for 1 EP a day shouldn't be the case +50%.  You'll have people maxing out specialized accounts within a year and not "Growing" into stuff.  Because ultimately the veterans aren't going to pay for their account (50%+) once they can pilot what they want.  And I don't know how many paint jobs you plan to sell, but maximizing some revenue from the vets would be optimal.

new content and new bots with new extentions should scale that up, but as i said before the ep reset is counter productive here to the ep booster. why paying for more and faster ep when i just can switch from time to time and still have 2/3 of the ep without the booster.

or the devs dont care if the vets dont pay and think the new influx of players will bring enough money so the vets do not realy matter.

god knows what goes on in their minds.

edit:
but i agree: 1440ep/day should be with the booster and not without.

They are counting on the fresh blood. This game has averaged what, maybe 200 paid vet accounts monthly for the last year? Its not enough to substain the game. The trade off is to have 2000 new accounts buy the game and play at least 6 months while losing at least half of the vet revenue, since some vets will still pay for the EP boost. And the additional 400 vets who will return to play because they now can play for free, well, they weren't playing anyways. And some of those returning vets will also pay for the EP boost.

And no matter whether someone is playing for free or paying, the game needs population. Currently the #1 problem this game has, by far. So if we average 500 peeps in Gen, all of a sudden we are getting the pvp, the market moving, and life in the game, That should make the game more desireable and make even more people try it out.

The problem that skews this is the EP reset without restrictions.

Actually now that I think about this ... from this discussion

Full EP reset $50
Downgrade one skill, lets say 3 levels, $1
EP boost, one month, $10

And yeah, maybe throw in a free EP reset for Vets who have more than a year into the game.
But I really dont like more than one EP reset in a year period. And no name change, unless you allow character transfer (for $30! of course) ... get rid of the "gifting" grey area.

I assume, the EP earned will remain the same? ie, one EP per minute gets switched to a daily package that contains 1440 EP?

Also, the terraforming reimbursement ... one package per terminal.

Lets say STC kills PHM terminals frequently, causing them to rebuild more terminals, which STC then kills. In the meantime, STC has a terminal on Imidero that stands for all time, and the base around it is terraformed more than most islands.

Does PHM get 20 terminal terraforming reimbursement packages for being bad while STC gets one package for being good?

Hypothetical question, of course. fuuu

The only way I could see justifying changing your name, is to buy another characters account and modify it to your liking ... is this in the works? and do you really need unlimited EP resets, for money? could it be at most once a year?

i'm all for harder is better. With the amounts and placements of NPC spawn locations on Hoop, Dom, and Hokk it is quite difficult to find a possible safe path in some areas, perhaps an interesting dynamic for PvP but also a definite increase in travel difficulty for this game, that is not good. The other thing I noticed while running a lvl 5 mission on Tellesis was these rules pulled NPCs from another mission spawn into the area I was in. this made completing the current objective tougher (np there) but also resulted in the NPCs in the next area NOT being in the correct reqion for me to complete the last objectives. Thats not good.

I like and understand the reasons for these changes, but I don't think its quite working as intended with some problematic side effects ...

And wtf is the Sensor strength on roaming Obs on gamma? Those beasts have consistently displayed values far exceeding the best T4 fits while consistently dropping T3 gear ... point is if an Obs Heavy has an optimal of 880 for lasers, will his sensor strength also be amped up and start chasing my hauling scarab when I get within 999m?

I just noticed Sensor Amplifier on this list ... Considering pretty much every non indy, detector, or hauler bot uses one or 2 of these, all the time .... should make things interesting. Walking anywhere on Hoop, Dom, or Hokk with a combat will be quite different.
