Every weapon has range and dmg type. Every dmg type has armor hardeners to resist that dmg. There is no really uber weapon that is better than other 3 types. Every weapon type has its advantages but also its disadvantages. So in the end its really about your preferences. If you just chose a weapon that someone says is uber - you may be soon dissapointed when you realize that you can't do as much damage as 'uber weapon' supposed to.

I thought PO is already tagged as "PvP niche game". If some reviewer would spend in a game say a week instead of 2-3 days review session they would notice that there is nothing on PvE side but pure grind, in its most evil form. And PvP side is quite disorganized.

I think Avatar wasn't really prepared for the game launch, it feels that it was sort of a sudden release for them smile. They are trying to do things as fast as they can but it feels like too much stuff fallen into their lap and they are having trouble sorting it out.

There is only a few of them and they have some much to do I feel sorry for them to be honest.

They need to find solution for lag - potentially move the server or introduce another one somewhere in central europe or US
They need to fix bugs
They need to polish the graphics engine so that people with slower PCs could actually run the game
They need to work on a new content as much as possible since game needs new content very soon
In team of 10 people thats gonna be really hard

But I wish them all the best, hopefully they can hire couple more coders soon and get additional help...

It would be a good idea to look into this in time, but for starters they may want to host a game server somewhere closer to the players. cool Then after playerbase expands they can follow up on storage solutions. But I think they will have to face both eventually either they want it or not.

I know what some people mean. Yeah they pretty easy obtainable hauling ships in EVE and better ones cost more of course. But, you do have Laird and Argona, they have 7.5AU instead of 3.75 combat ones. Sequer is the one bot that all the miners, haulers, industrialists want to have eventually. If you do assignments you can grind enough money to get Sequer for about 2.2 mil in about 20-24 hours if they are available on market. It took me about 6 hours with 3 accounts by using laird and 2 argonas going circle Dardden, New Virginia, Attalica(?) and taking 2 transport assignments each. I hate making money this way but this is a good way for beginners other than farm kernels and sell them on market. You also get a buttload of all kinds of ammo while grinding for money and different standing.

make sure you have at least lvl 6 Diplomacy, otherwise your standing will grow very slowly since missions that you take at one terminal may decrease standing from factions at another terminal, with high diplomacy and Logistic Specialization though you will be getting more money from each assignment and your penalty for doing assignments for opposite factions will be less noticeable.

Unfortunately RODO is not the last newb who will run into this. There needs to be some kind of BIG RED LETTER alert before you create your characters that says:

PLEASE BE CAREFUL AS DELETING THE CHARACTER COSTS 2800 Extension Points.

Avatar Creations may still be... cool

I think Gigenet offers some CLOUD solutions as well. But yeah, there are many providers now in both Europe and US.

It can actually be a fully grown plant and have only 1 minable unit in it because someone already sucked all the life out of it. So yeah, plants don't degrade visually while being mined nor do the mining nodes change color, it can be a red node and be empty if someone mined everythign out of it. If new plants grwing after seeding can actually change the look based on how *** their are I think that devs could revert that process in real time to show us visual change while we harvest/mine.

We do have a landmark information that shows how many units left in plant. I've heard its better to leave at least 1 unit in plants and then they recover sooner otherwise it probably may take up to 24-48 hours for a helioptris plant to recover to 50-70 units if it has to grow from scratch. I may be wrong though, this is what i think based on my observations and what I read/hear.

And for MMO you would want Unmetered Servers of course, so this page:

http://www.gigenet.com/managed-dedicate … rvers.html

Anyway, hope you get the idea. But you do need to move the server eventually.

Managed dedicated servers is where you want to go on their website. Here is their pricing page:

http://www.gigenet.com/managed-dedicated-servers.html

http://www.gigenet.com/

I've actually went through the trouble of speaking with one of the gigenet representatives and how this can be arranged.

You pay whatever price a month to Gigenet as an example. You get access to as many servers as you need through VPN. You RDP (Remote Desktop Connection) into the boxes if its a windows based server and install the game, configure it and what not. Or you get access through Linux, if PO is based on Linux.
Discuss all the security policies with them and what not. Basically you host the game in US through Gigenet for like 300$/month if its just 1 server - you always have remote access from Hungary to your game servers in US, you can release patches and do everything you want, and we gamers have much better latency, which means happier paying players - less problem for everyone.

It is a good solution, since from what I understand this MMO is sort of a budget based MMO and you probably won't be able to have your own Datacenter in US or Central Europe. So this solution would be perfect.

You can also try http://www.serverpronto.com/ but I haven't chatted with them so I am not sure but the basic idea is there. From what I know thats how foreign companies do, they rent servers in US or Europe and host their games to allow better communication on a client<->server level. Hope it helps.

I've had a few tiems when I accidentally clicked 'select all' but cought it on time. I think thats what happened to you and you just destroyed all your items accidentally. When they are all selected sometimes you can't really tell the difference. I think they need to make the selection layer sorta reddish so that you can tell the difference for sure between when item is selected and when its not. At this point its not much of a difference in how it looks selected and not selected.

Note heaps of things missing in the information window of the ARGANO on the top left, might be a database issue?

M2S has found a bug and now duping the fake bots, they also found a way to post it on the market invisible, thats why it looks like you're buying from NPC but in fact its actually M2S fake bot. lol

j/k, or is it? cool

This bug is related to pocket loss. There are times when connection between server and client is lost which shows as pocket loss. If you deploy container during that short time frame when people experience rubberbending and 'follow-stop' - your container is as good as gone. Thats my take on this problem. They really need to fix the issues, but being based in Hungary I start to fear for games future. If they had resources to move server to a central Europe at least - it would have been much better for many of us.

Its been growing ever worse. I'm in the western US.  A couple of days after launch it was playable. Now, its grown to the point that its just an open invitation to lose a bot.  I can deal with some lag, but that coupled with repeated, random disconnections in this type of game makes it unplayable.

yeah exactly, I started to notice this "auto-stop" thing about 2-3 days after release. Your bot just stops if it on auto-follow and if you drive it yourself by pressing W you hop ahead big chunks. This game is hard on PvP and having ANY lag issues in PvP centered game = death for a game.

Hey devs, were you switching the cables last night between hubs or something? It felt like it at least. One major disconnect and then a few big lag spikes when things stopped a few times for like 5-7 seconds.

I thank you for returning my Sequer which I lost during the disconnect (wasn't near enemies and on Alpha island) but I was wondering if this is gonna happen again. I mean come on guys, sometimes I feel that I am playing a game made by a couple of friends in some basement lol. I know its close to what you guys got there, and more kudos to you for that, but lets at least get your hardware side straight so we can have uninterrupted gaming sessions.

Keep up the good work. But I really hope you can fix the issue with ping jumps and rubberbending. If I run a bot on follow it just stops. If I drive a bot by pressing W it hops ahead like there is some kind of packet loss or something. And its not my cable. This started happening about 2-3 days after game official release and I experience this every day now. I didn't have this issue for a couple of days after official release.

Devs do you plan to do anything about the server location, I kinda suspect you would say - 'we don't have resources for that' but I still hope for better.

This thread is one of the references that people from different locations have problems. It seems to be a problem with a Hungary... http://forums.perpetuum-online.com/topi … cket-loss/

Upgrade the lighting engine, fix 3D engine not to crash players and add more LOD to robots or other things. Terrain LOD is very nice.

Turn Perpetuum into Age of Conan so it doesnt run properly on even a decent machine and dies a slow, agonizing death.

PO is already unfriendly to older systems.

On my 3 year old MacBook Pro (with Intel 2 DuoCore, 3GB of RAM and dedicated ATI gfx) I can run games like LOTRO on high settings and Age of Conan, Fallen Earth and EverQuest 2 on Medium settings. EVE online on max settings. All with no problems whatsoever.

But PO runs like crap. Even when I set everything to low (with shadows, AA dissabled). Wich will make this game look a 100 times worse than WoW. I still not get beyond 10fps. lol.

Unfortunately this is true. PO Graphics engine sucks hairy balls. You need a really good PC to run it smoothly and NOT just on high settings but even on low-medium settings. I run one of the accounts on my wife's PC that I build myself for her. There is 2.6Ghz CPU under the hood, 4GB of RAM and GTX260 graphics card. That PC can run LOTRO on max with AAs enabled. But I can barely run PO even on low settings. PO either needs to be polished a LOT, or it simply has the worst graphics engine which I consider the latter since they probably couldn't afford a good engine in the first place... sad

I can run game on max but only on my main PC with 10GB RAM, 1GB Radeon HD 5870, 3Ghz dual core CPU, and 10000RPM HDD. Considering that 3D models in game look pretty crappy - its just awful that it requires so much juice in your PC to run on max. Very very crappy unpolished graphics engine.

What looks really good in this game - are the effects and it seems to have some high definition rendering that enables pretty realistic sun rays in a mix with shadows. But graphics engine still sux they need to polish the engine and do something to decrease the lag and rubberbending.

I've read somewhere that its better for your eyes if you look at the monitor either in straight line or at a slight angle 'down' at the monitor. When we look up we restrain our eyes for a longer period and they get tired sooner, but if your recliner makes you sit the way that you just look straight at the monitor since your recliner is at an angle then maybe its not that bad.

Nobody is putting anything out of the game or nerfing any bot. Hopefully you just won't be able to set enemy base as your home any longer after fix is in place.
