Assaults have turned in to sneaky little gits. Granted... still... very very slow... but now sneaky!

Yeah, they're more of a time sink I suppose. ( money if you're lazy and just buy fuel ) But that in itself is kind of what balances the territorial ownership. Even the biggest names in EvE couldn't own everything because they just don't have the resources for upkeep, nor logistics. That's in a perfect setting of course, as there's also war to keep in mind.

But right now, with PO, there's no real scalable time sink that keeps ownership in check. You can essentially entrench and the upkeep eventually disappears. Given that there's not near enough space to make a POS style structure like Eve, upkeep would definitely have to be a lot steeper to prevent POS' showing up everywhere. Unless of course Dev's open up even more space.

But I guess this is all speculation for now. I think CRM or someone said they're working on the POS system, so we'll just have to wait and see what they concoct.

The only certainty is, we do need something.

That's their own problem and part of that risk for their reward. yarr

If people had a reason to do this, they would. The current state of the game seems to resound that they don't, given that there's barely any PvP going on aside for intrusions.

I know you PvP and roam, do you find that you have a lot of targets? Do you not think with more reason to be on Beta it would not benefit the PvP scene with risk vs reward? Right now the major 'reward' if you can call it that is owning an outpost, which kind of puts large-scale fights on a schedule. Inbetween intrusions what's there to fight over? You're basically going to be culling random people ninja-farming or mining, if you're lucky.

I don't think right now we have a lack of skilled people or drive to compete, I think what we really have is a lack of things to compete for.

I don't think this game is ready for war decs yet. No one wants to PvP on Beta as it is, aside intrusions. I think this would just stand to further push people out of the game.

In a large enough playerbase, this would be great. But right now, it's just not a good time for it.

It's not about replicating Eve and having huge time sinks. It's moreso about having something, as opposed to our current nothing. We don't need to copy EvE's layout in it's entirety and have to assume they will just be a big waste of time and an open door to 'zomgcapswarm'. Having some sort of customizeable, player owned forts/bases/structures, would further the sandbox's development and actually give corps who have the time and resources a greater sense of accomplishment and a common goal to work towards. Let's face, as it is, no one really wants to do to much in Beta because there's not much point in trying to defend a pile of empty islands, or even one for that matter. It's easier on the logistics to just run ops in to beta and then leave when you see fit as opposed to taking an OP and waiting for a blob to signup and wipe you out on scheduled time.

I've played other games heavily in the markets and seeing who my competition is was key to a lot of my success. When you know your targets you can see their markets and thus deduce the production chains they use and trends of trading/timing. With a little wizardry you can cut their supplies by pricing competitively (or ruthlessly...) on the markets. It's not about who has more money, although it does play a minor role, it's about constant pressure and making sales before the other person does. Everyone has their own thresholds and profit margins and a big part of taking someone down is finding their patterns. It's practically impossible to do so on an anonymous market. I don't really want to explain my market tactics all over the public board, but I can tell you, knowing your targets makes taking down their production chains and causing trouble a lot easier.

NIC/Resource sinks for end game in a sandbox are a must. Otherwise the markets are going to run rampant. POS' in Eve were a good form of sink as they required fuel to keep them running. This is something I'd like to see in similar terms for PO. Something that requires a moderate amount of effort to upkeep, to show that your corp is involved. The more involved the more you can own and the more you can really display your corps power and memberships efforts. The outposts right now are a really poor excuse for endgame warfare and they really don't take a lot in terms of upkeep. In fact I think there comes a point when the upkeep becomes free after so many defenses.

Endgame needs to be established, because if people show up there and they see what little there is to accomplish from the plateau of the game, they will leave and find another MMO that will reward their efforts and present innovative and engaging challenges.

I think being able to see who's posting what on the market would actually make a big difference, for competitors anyway. Knowing your opponents is a big part of market warfare. To be able to take down someone on the markets you need to see where they're production is at and how they're pricing and moving goods. To say that you don't need to see who you're buying from is like saying you don't need to see who you're killing in PvP, just fire blindly in to your targets and hope you take down the threat. It's not very effective, especially if you want to make a lasting effect and devise plans to counteract certain parties and trends.

I disagree. POS's and POS warfare were the biggest mistake EVE made. They led to the introduction of Caps, Super Caps and Titans. What used to be a fun game, turned into Capital ship blob online! It sucks. Please think things through Devs, before you ever add anything like this.

POS warfare doesn't have to equate to caps and all that rubbish. I too think that aspect of Eve is rubbish. It can be done better. To not have any sort of player owned/constructed territory though, makes a sandbox a bit less sandbox and pretty boring as we have it now in terms of endgame territorial warfare.

Adding the agents Corp as a column to the friends list would be great as well.  tongue

I think we should just do away with outposts on Beta islands altogether and bring in POS'. It will give more weighted value to holding Beta territory and a greater sense of meaning when you build or capture them. Granted, we have no clue how far off we are from POS', or what they'll even entail, so meh.

i really wonder where you find more "outposts" on the new "alpha" islands. theres only a single terminal on each one.

Im referring to the outposts on the islands that were just implemented. They just stand to further make the community pulled apart. There's nothing special about the new alpha islands aside a couple bigger spawns and ore fields. They're mostly barren and you can wander them for quite some time without seeing NPC's and even more, players. In the future, sure, it could be seen as prudent as the player base grew, but right now it was highly uncalled for. There's far too much land for what little we can do with it. Outposts are already everywhere with everything packed in each one, they're pointless, which is why end game intrustions are pointless as people have noted. Who cares who owns them, no one wants them because there's too many and none of them are special aside having level 3 facilities on beta. Sure, those facilities are something different but obviously not terribly important as there's not really anyone calling for easier access or lack of access in spite of one corp holding mostly all of them.

I think the game would do better with less alpha outposts and less islands. The land feels too seggregated as it is. I'm sure with more players that would change, but as is, the land available is too much for the current player base and it seems more detrimental to the general feel of things. I personally think the new alphas shouldn't have contained more outposts, but maybe that's just me. I'd have actually rather seen one larger landmass for alpha and beta accordingly as opposed to scattered islands. Most of the islands seem to be a ghost town because there's just no point to going from one to the other. All the islands typically have the same general value in npc's and ores, so where you go is really has no significance as crowding is definitely is not an issue.

I'm somewhat of an audiophile myself as I love to listen to music with as much volume/clarity as possible. The soundcard you chose is probably one of, if not, the best you can get on the market as it's built for not only great sound but gaming latency as well. We're talking though in realms of mainstream parts as I'm sure there's better studio quality hardware... but we wont go into that as those bits range in the thousands and aren't really feasible for home use.

The headset I use when I want to game/chat is the Medusa with external amp. The sound quality is quite decent and it's also in 5.1 surround with a detachable mic. Here's a link to a similar product by the parent company:

http://www.medusa-usa.com/medusa-nx-51- … 4f2fa86a4e

That link isn't quite what I have, but it's one I used to have. Their other version has the detachable mic and also an external amp. I think I paid close to $200 for the kit. Here's a pic of a similar version to what I actually have,(without the detachable mic) but I'm not sure if it's still availale as I haven't looked around:

http://techgage.com/viewimg/?img=/revie … =Speedlink

For plain listening to music I have another headset which cost me close to $400. It's a Sennheiser set and they're simply amazing. I've tried a lot of different brands, headsets, earphones, buds, whatever... and Sennheiser have probably the best quality I've ever heard. I can't remember the series I have as I made this purchase years ago and I have no documents left for it. But I can certainly say that if they ever break I'd get another pair of Sennheisers. The sound is like having a stereo sitting on your ears, you wouldn't believe the treble and bass that comes out of them. Even when cranked extremely high the sound doesn't crack and to be honest, they can handle sound louder than you'd want that close to your ear so volume wouldn't be a problem. They are also extremely comfortable to boot.

As for speakers, the set I have is the Logitech Z5500. I did a lot of research back when I was in the market and this set had great reviews everywhere. I spent around $500 for these and they were worth every penny. I've never been able to make them crack because the volumes they reach prior to such occurrence is too loud. I've downloaded bass tests and tracks for speaker tests and these things will hurt your ears before they hurt themselves. If you want loud, full, clear sound, these will not let you down.

Hope this info helps push you in the right direction.

We already have demobilizers to prevent that sort of thing. If someone can't prevent their prey from reaching those objects, I don't really think they should also get a module that prevents them from interacting with that object either. If that were the case, there may as well be a module that just flat shuts down a bot so it can sit there and die, because frankly, that's pretty much what's going to happen if someone's running to interact with one of those in the first place.

Of course this is just my opinion, but I don't think this mod seems very sporting.

I like this idea, being able to refit or at least grab more ammo out in the field would be great.

Well, if you have an indy RR, just get'm to carry ammo. Most cases where you'd run out of ammo, you'd be in a larger fight and if you're in a larger fight you probably have some sort of indy RR logistics, just get them to carry some field cans and ammo. It's a bit risky I guess, but it beats having no ammo if that's an issue.

I don't think there's any problem with travel times. Find an island and stick to it. The only reason you'd travel away from home in any noticeable distance is for war really. In such a case, logistics has never been a quick and simple thing. You want to kill someone that's not in your backyard, prepare to make an effort. Especially in this game since the population is so low and the space between targets is quite noticeable. You can reach any island and outpost in this game in a decent time, the land masses really aren't that big and even with the latest xpac, there isn't much of it either. The only reason things seem boring and tedious now is because there's not enough players to fill in the gaps so everything seems like a boring ghost town.

Wow, that's pretty terrible. At least you made it out and weren't swept off to Oz.

Hope you get things back in order soon!
