player contracts have been a feature request for ages.  afiak they will not help you get anything, they have not stepped in on any other kind of fraud other than abuse of broken game mechanics thus far.

@Rosi - nearly everyone (probably 95% at this point) in this game is already from EVE so it's no surprise that a pop bump would be from people pissed off at EVE's blatant money grab.

I was checking out the $10 STEAM sale for EVE:Incarna and decided to check their official forums yesterday.

It's ugly.  There's a leaked internal employee PDF which that hour old thread just confirmed is real which talks about milking their cash cow to pay for Dust 514 and World of Darkness and by selling ships/ammo/guns/whatever in their RMT store to do it.

I have to say after reading the pdf myself yesterday it stopped me from buying an account and people are quitting in droves.

Now would be a good time for a P promo wink

EDIT: here's a thread that links to at least 15 gaming magazine/websites about it as well

Your to involved with game drama,. that stat sheet is,. Flawed in so many ways,. and has been a bad smell on forums for years..

Many players from Mankind, like ( myself ) would argue its history on there. 2002 is around the time of a mass server wipe, they basically lost ALL there current players, But mankind from (1999 or so) survives..

Guess what im pointing out is,. Stats like that are not reliable.

Perpetuum is still a long way off from petering out,. come back later if it got boring.

And yes, Hats off to Grim,. Good post,.

Right, because when you can't attack the message (facts) attack the messenger.  Want drama? Join a corp.  The majority are run by infantile 3rd world dictator wannabes with the thinnest skin of any pasty nerds I've ever seen; and I say that having been in, and helped found, chess/RPG/AND Anime clubs in high school and have been an online PC gamer for 22 years yarr

As for the stats, those came directly from the DEVs promoting it in General Chat and being proud that they made the list and if you actually read anything there it specifically says that the game itself has to submit stats to be included.  They don't guess, but don't let the facts bother you.

Yes the game (outside of infrequent pvp, due to resources/production time sinks being ridiculous) is boring as ***.  I still have hundreds of hours and dollars invested so I'm still watching to see what they do with it.  From the number of threads and posts talking about direction I don't think I'm alone in that.

Yes they have the Blog.  The Blog is relatively short term and does not discuss the actual goals of what the DEVs are trying to accomplish or the direction they're going but only things they are planning to add (not Why).

I'm glad that it says that they are adding the EC system, although having it tied only to owning an outpost or artifact scanning is a mistake (since it just adds another facet to 2 Things To Do that already exist instead of adding something totally different).

I'm glad that they will add some more PVE assignments, but being a sandbox, offering players the tools that have been suggested many MANY times on the forums like player contracts for various things, player owned structures, etc I think would go further than what they're promising since it allows the players to do some of their own content and takes some of the burden off of them since they say themselves that the most time intensive thing to do in game is make PVE missions.

I agree with Faust's post in its entirety and Arga's point about game play.  We know the DEVs are watching the forums and I'm glad for that as well.

@Monster I would love to see your analysis smile

Why not go out and kill NPCs for loot which can in turn help your corp advange and build more cannon fodder for PvP?

Mining/Harvesting for the corp.

Granted I think there should be a way to gain EP while playing the game but not alot of EP.

You just described a job.  I believe most everyone playing is paying for their own accounts aka they already have one.

As for the PVP, there is no incentive to do that either other than it's fun but since people don't want to lose they zerg or sit on their outposts and shiver.

As pointed out by Arga in another thread solo pvp is the hardest possible thing in game and there are only a handful of people who even try; I know firsthand.

I have literally seen DEVs tell newbies who are complaining about many of the things mentioned in this thread to join a corp - telling people to change their playstyle is not how you foster growth.  You foster growth by catering to needs.  Ask every current successful MMO how they did that I think you'll find enormous amounts of overlap in the answers.

I've never seen an "MMO" with so few players, reading the DEV interview where Zoom states that the game was originally intended to be an RTS, that influence is very apparent.

They are also missing other opportunities.  For example, Worldoftanks, a f2p team v team tank based detailed pvp game with a level of complexity on the battlefield similar to Perpetuum (only no corpse loot; at least that I've seen), but with 10,000-16,000 active players at any given time of day and 0 grind to start fighting just grind to get access to new vehicles/weapons/ammo, has won a ton of free press for their awesome showing at E3 and got a massive bump in players from it as well.  Perpetuum could have had a modest booth and still probably got a lot of interest but afiak they didn't show up at all.

@Greenleaf I think sinking ship references the fact that by their own numbers their modest population lost more than half of its active subscriptions (that is NOT active players by a long shot) with in a few months of release.

After more than 400 hours in game, and 4 months of daily play I'm pretty much done for awhile.

I could write 3 pages on what's wrong with this game and what it needs but I think I can sum up most of it in 3 words:

Ridiculous.  Unmitigated.  Grind.  (It could also be rephrased as: Stop. Aping. Eve. - It's killing your game)

Cut the time it takes to do literally everything in game by 75% and watch the subs come in.  Build some real solo content.  Foster PVP and stop catering to alliances and big corps.

There is nothing going on in game.  There is no reason to log in except to spend another 8 hour shift in some ore field to keep my production for myself going and I don't really even need to do that since I'm sitting on 20+ of every kind of bot/mech I can use.

Research is ***.  Relation grinding is ***.  Travel time is ***.  Resource grinding is ***; etc.

The difference between EA player EP and new players is vast.  No gear accessibility because the grind (either for money or resources to make it yourself) makes it 10x worse (I do have access to an EA EP account and have directly compared it with my main who is 4 months old so I'm speaking from both sides here).

This whole game has less than a 1/6th of the people playing who bought Darkspore at a STEAM sale just this week (myself included) and the reasons go beyond it being a niche of a niche.

Anyway, I got COD:BLOPS/Wings of Prey\Darkspore/AI Wars all for less than the cost of a single year time code.  I plan to log in to spend EP occasionally but that's about it.

This game has an amazing concept and the underlying mechanics are for the most part solid with decent PVP balance.  Please stop *** it up.

All you have to do is look at how many trial accounts sign up and then leave.  Most don't bother giving a reason; the ones that do are nearly always the same.

there needs to be a independant broadcasting of events, battles and simply whats happening.
if your not a member of any of the pvp corps, or alliances, you dont get any information about whats happening, if not for some "GF" messages after a battle in general chat.

Syndicate NEWS, broadcasting about those outpost battles afterwards, like who fought there, reliable numbers (not telling exact numbers of bots and equip, but how much "worth" of NIC has been fielded, lost and destroyed on each side)....

Agreed, I'd very much like to see some battle footage video recordings to go with it, especially from an eye-in-the-sky viewpoint.

Very well done.  I particularly liked the part at the end where people offered their ideas, good all around.

How many mining points do you have on them? I have a ton.

Thanks.

I think it's the number o fmining points I have.

I have a harvesting noralgis farmer and he doesn't have the lag.

I think you're right about the waypoints.  My original post was mining on hoop where I have lots of waypoints.  On other islands where I have far less it's not noticeable.

I hate guessing which bot I need to cancel insurance on just to hit the wrong one and waste another 250k.  As far as I know, the only hint is the date it was insured "lets see did I insure that sequer or that one or that one a week ago???".

Please allow canceling insurance in the same way it's applied.

When sending over a hundred waypoints the right click send thing sucks ***.   Primarily because the tedium is amplified a billion percent by the goddamn window reset every 10 seconds that moves the list up to the top.

Please allow all waypoints to be sent in bulk, shift and ctrl select or just a send all would be awesome, or at least put little boxes by them so they can be checked off and you know where you are when the window resets.

Ok now that we have the new islands and it it's still too easy to completely lock down a beta island with 4 scouts, what about revisiting this?

For my corp it's not a problem if it stays like it is but in order to make it possible for small gangs to be able to do something without being spotted immediately something like my proposal should be implemented.

Thoughts? Still lame idea? smile

2 words: Stealth Assaults.

Your island isn't nearly as locked down as you think it is wink

Edit: Please do not post private conversations with DEVs. - DEV Calvin

I'm glad Styx is gone, I hope to God the DEVs learned their lessons and will stay out of corps, politics, and destroying large parts of the game based on one ***'s ideas (kernel nerf anyone?)

As for the comments about Jelan, I saw him in Help! at night like the day of.  I don't think his account is banned but I'm sure he got kicked in the balls and being the most vocal pro-m2s-we-rock-you-we're-so-awesome *** he doesn't want to feel the full force of the I Told You So's.

.. this goes in feature discussion .. and 45 thumbs down .. cash shops are a VERY slippery slope.  i saw it ruin lotro, i don't want to see that happen again.

reading about how the devs dealt with the original insurance fraud out in the open on the forums was a major factor in me signing up to play the game when i was still on the fence.

So will this show now be delayed to talk about the Epic Purge?
