Nice content. Why the hell are you not teasing and advertising. Adding stuff like this on top of new bots will not bring extra players. Adding it in between new bots will.

Jita... how long do you think counterstrike would be played if they would put in a blinding gluegun in, that can shoot through walls with infinite ammo?

demobs neither have a chance to hit, nor do they have any LoS restrictions. their limit should have been their short range, forcing the attacker into the danger of beeing hit,
and the risk that the target has resist/immunity against it.

the Zenith with its range bonus had more range with the SHORT RANGE demob then most mech/heavy mech fits, and ofc, more range then anything smaller then a mech could even lock the zenith. The ultimate tool for blobbing...

But mostly people are demob proof, there is your chance to hit. Its a good counter measure.

Ewar seems fairly balanced to me post patch. There's a distinct reason to use mechs over heavies now. Heavies are still able to cope with ewar if fit properly. I would like to see more difference between light and mech sized ewar strength but no real complaints.

My main challenge for the ewar change was the nerf to demobs when used on a zenith. They nerfed a play style there for no reason. It would be nice if the new ewar mech addressed that.

It's a fine line to draw really but boring people out of the game or time zoning isn't beneficial.

The real killer for this assault is how vulnerable to demobs it will be.

i am a bit worried about the "worth" of the evasion bonus.

Unless you make all medium weapons have 1.5 times the dispersion as now, IMHO evasion has no real impact on chance to hit.

instead it will only affect all those things that also depend on hitsize, like masking accumulator consumption, shield efficiency (i guess noone has yet posted a bugreport that the hitsize cap is not working as intended...) and explosion radius

I can tell you now that it won't be used for armor, its just too risky. It will make a decent shield tank alongside an evasive nexus and all the other possible ways to improve it. I'm more concerned about its damage and speed. Not sure zoom ran the numbers on possible damage output when compared with its competitors and the lack of low slots will really make a shield tank difficult as its so vulnerable to demob.

All in all I think the assault is a miss and won't be used other than novelty.

That said, apparently its still open to change. I'm not sure how open to balance ideas zoom is of course given what happened last time.

That's a great blog, well done. I really do think you should space them out longer to give you guys more time to release something awesome but this is exactly what you need.

I'd tease and have one of the mech / heavies for the next blog and give it a couple of months with perhaps a balance patch in between. Its good to start with the small stuff. Skills extra is a start but bear in mind a million extra ep is less than a month passive work.

Overall great job and for god sake milk it. Your not going to get this on target again for a while

This kind of content doesn't warrant it? People have waited years for new mechs and bots. Don't sell it short, this is the best content released in years. Spreading them out over a year would give someone a reason to log in for a year. It would be a shame to have everything in the first four or five months and then no new bots for years and several months to new content. Players get hungry.

Eve released the t3 destroyers one at a time with a couple of months between. They did a great job teasing them and talking over the content to build anticipation.

Two every two months wouldn't be so bad. Give you guys a whole year to cook up the next years content.

Any thoughts on skills are releasing as a CT so the production people have something to do?

If alliance features were implemented you wouldn't have a problem. IMO I'd rather coding time was spent on that than this.

I know your intention is to make Syndicate robots accessible but I think it would be beneficial that they engage as much of the games population as possible. I would therefore like to suggest that you cannot get the robots themselves from the token shop but the robots CT (1 run). This will give the production people something to work on and a reason for mineral sales on the market. If you keep the CT material rate high it also makes early production a viable business for new players – something kind of lacking currently.

I would suggest giving these robots rank ten skills that are new specific to them.

I would also suggest that gunnery secondary skills are split out - its not really reasonable that gunnery secondary skills fit three weapon types but missiles one.

I would suggest splitting weapons in to sub groups and each weapon system has secondary skills that match that weapon system. Refund the EP so folks can choose.

Lets give people a reason to get ep via missions / logging in and something to actually spend it on

Every patch brings back 50 - 100 people, they just don't stay. If they know something new is coming the following month and the stuff thats actually interesting is spaced out (instead of putting all the good new bots in the first couple of months) then some of those will stay as some new ones come back.

If it can gain a hundred people the first month and then fifty a month after that for the first six months you might end up with retaining 150 – 200 people. At that kind of population the fights and politics should bring in more veterans. What kills these veteran corps is the inability to keep recruiting to replace the burnt out people and if that steady stream of new folks keeps coming with the new bots I think we could be at 400 by the end of the year. The crucial part then will be what the devs do next year – new bots will still be needed but it can’t be the same kind of thing. Maybe one a quarter and a new weapon system? They were discussing the new randomized mods so perhaps.

the only thing i'd like to see with extensions is it split it to factional ep with this free ep business adding to a specific faction. That way afk miners would just get industrial ep and you cant afk two 1.5m alts per combat account in a month.
