Beta holds the following PVE benefits:
Better production
Better prototyping
Better reverse engineering
Better recycling
2X mission payout
Level 6 missions
2X ep payout
Epriton
Better mineral spawns of every material (apart from strangely Titan)
Practically cost free repairing
Better NPC buy order prices for plasma
Level 2 taps can be used
Explosion damage can be used to complete taps (makes them a lot faster)
Artifacting loot is much better
Sap loot
Plants last longer and grow larger (good for noralgis)
Red and larger observer spawns
Red NPC caravans
So the benefits are clear. What's less clear is a) what do you spend the extra money on and b) is the benefit worth the beta station risk.
When black bots came out the benefit vs the risk of the (supposedly broken) mission mechanics were balanced correctly. Every beta 1 island had people regularly doing PVE. This could be the case again by balancing beta PVE properly and by providing higher cost and high end modules and bots so that there is something aspirational to own.
I get what you are saying but I think you overestimate the pull of the games trial. The game is already free for I think 12000 players and they don't play it. Even if the game went fully free to play I don't think they would get over a hundred active players at first - there just isn't the marketing firstly and it's a very niche market most of which have already tried (and discarded) it
The question is would more people play the trial and then buy the game than currently buy the game just to try.
Given our player retention...
More alpha content bad
More beta content good
I do feel that the decoder lab functionality should be on beta too, the same as CT combination. Lower the efficiency of course but its a small and easy addition to beta living viability and station ownership.

Not after 3m total unless you found some exploit.
Feature.
If you have full proto, full reverse engineering, full production and your doing something actively that's high ep then it's possible. Ammo production works well for this, family cheap and easily sold.
No, two or three modules would immobilise an enemy. It can still shoot back. It's also an option vs demon reistant enemies. While I agree that tackle bots will mostly fit this it means a move away from light bots in to light ewar and assaults for tackle. This makes them more expensive and more vulnerable.
I'd prefer a new nexus module to increase ewar strength that impacts demobs. I would also like ewar tunings to impact demobs.
I don't see a problem with adding a module to add speed. I see a problem with not being able to add a module to slow them down.

We tried but it's hard to find any targets.
Dunno about that. The weekend is ripe with opportunities over on Hoop. I mean, I couldn't stay away from that slime fastcar chump. They sent quite a few peeps out to get my poor Chameleon ... i'm due for another witch hunt ...
Oh, the issues with being a decoy. :B

Thats because we stopped playing. After they complained we are 'breaking the peace'.
I'm not sure if you guys have hidden 10 devs but it might be an idea suggesting things that can be done

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E … ger_effect
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which low-ability individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability as much higher than it really is.
The phenomenon was first experimentally observed in a series of experiments by David Dunning and Justin Kruger of the department of psychology at Cornell University in 1999.[1][2] The study was inspired by the case of McArthur Wheeler, a man who robbed two banks after covering his face with lemon juice in the mistaken belief that, because lemon juice is usable as invisible ink, it would prevent his face from being recorded on surveillance cameras.
This pattern of over-estimating competence was seen in studies of skills as diverse as reading comprehension, practicing medicine, operating a motor vehicle, and playing games such as chess or tennis. Perhaps even perp.
You oftn make me laugh and now I know why.
Kissy kissy

That's pretty funny. And kind of true. Also remains me of 'we will be legends'
Annihilator wrote:i wonder if the DEVs will just release MK2 versions of those syndicate bots, rendering the mk1 versions even more obsolete
I hope not. They don't need mk2 as they are token shop, they just need to be made more expensive and balanced vs mk2. The assault is the only bad one so far so I'll cross my fingers for the rest.
They are kind of fun, some of the guys were doing them on gamma but just for novelty. The payout needs fixing so bad
Annihilator wrote:Ensireka wrote:Blocker wrote:uhmm from my understanding you don't need to run to the next one, when you pop a beacon at an anomaly it will spawn NPC's and when you are finished completing the waves that follow the anomaly will turn red? and you can then jump to the next anomaly, rinse and repeat.
I didn't know you could teleport with em ... doh! Still rather annoying. Why not just let us go back to placing em where we want?
-Ensi
because that was abused to extreme extends. and every attempt to fix it, failed misserably.
so, they changed it alltogether to what we have now.
I think they did a good job, it just needs the reward fixing. They can't change the loot tables just for TAPS which is why I'm thinking a NIC reward for completing .... Something storyline like such as killing pockets of resistance
You should try using it before making snippy comments Anni. Its going to be better than the Hermes because its faster. Speed = efficiency
Which is cool, I like this content but twelve waves of mechs and heavies for 5 - 10 million is pretty awful. Missions were supposed to be balanced at 30 mil per hour + loot and tokens. TAPs are about a quarter of that AND you have to get the tap too. If anything tap reward should be more than missions to account for the cost of the beacon itself.
I would suggest adding a reward notification once a TAP is complete that gives NIC.
Something like
Light 1 - 10 million
Medium 1 - 20 million
Light 2 - 20 million
Medium 3 - 40 million
Light 3 - 40 million
Medium 3 - 80 million
Would reflect the risk and difficulty of doing taps and encourage their use and the risk of combat bots in combat areas.
I would also introduce
Heavy 1 - 30 million
Heavy 2 - 100 million
Heavy 3 - 150 million
That offers group level difficulty

Its the best artifactor in the game, the fastest travel bot in the game, the best masker scout in the game and you think its not good enough?
L2P
So who is playing this game? We were thinking of coming over
Ville wrote:So the new bots are worthless?
No, the assault is. The Icarus is fantastic and the best at a lot of roles. The new light is the best detector in the game. It's just the assault that is balanced vs T1 that sucks. And the wider issue that all the ewar mechs and heavies will be balanced vs T1 too.
Yeah novelty. Two appearances for a new not is awful. I'd love to run syndicate exclusive gangs and be a syndicate corp but the assault blows
The people whining about ECM being overpowered or the ictus being useless are just not being truthful. ECM is still useful but a lot harder now that mechs are more used. Ictus mk2 is probably the most used ewar mech currently, that again is because mechs are the main target but also because all three are just more balanced.
What does need tweaking is the power of ewar modules and the bonus of ewar bots. They should have the same strength as now when on a vaga / zenith but need a nerf when fitted to other mechs. The same could be said for enwar.
Can I just say this is the best of the new bots by far. Gee Gee.
Burial wrote:Jita wrote:Its a bit underwhelming so far, I think they are trying to balance vs the t1 variants which will doom them to uselessness.
They should follow the Eve model of making them awesome, too good and overused before nerfing them in to oblivion.
Are they actually going to do some post-release balancing to these new bots?
They said so but they will only balance them vs what they think they should do. Unfortunately what they think they should do is useless.
It's really telling to see none of them in PvP, so far the only kill or loss was beast making sure he got the first loss.
Its actually pretty hard to jam a mech now, even harder if they have ECCM. To lock down a double amp single ECCM mech takes a whole vaga
ECM is powerful but not insurmountable
Annihilator wrote:Jita wrote:I think zoom will barely change them and they will be as useless most of the other new content
Line is right... zoom has announced that he will change the stuff AROUND them...
so lets see how long it takes him to double all dispersion attributes of ALL weapons as a first step
I think you give him too much credit.
I'm scared to suggest anything I want because it's like he does something different from all the sensible suggestions just so he looks like he's got his own ideas.
