So by applying your logic making terraforming cheaper would not increase the overall rate of terraforming NIA?

Pleas explain how terraforming will be completed at the same rate if it cost 10x more than it does now.

Making terraforming expensive WILL slow down the terraforming process.  I prefer altering the cost of terraforming rather than placing all kinds of restrictions on where you can and can't terraform as that takes away from the sandboxy feel.

@ Mongolia - Cost balancing doesn't work, as you say it just delays the consequences being seen. Tbh, make terraforming free, then you can see quickly the results of not restricting terraforming more.

No, you miss my point entirely.

Alliances come and go
Corporations come and go
Players come and go

But terraforming should remain slow and steady (read -> expensive).

DEV Zoom, in the conference, it was apparent that you had people who's job/goal was to wall off their islands from the rest of the server for their corporations.  Of course if you ask them "should terraforming be cheaper" they would respond with a "yes".

If you ask many PvPers (especially not so wealthy ones) if Mk2 bots should be 5x cheaper what do you think the response will be?

ppl will do it anyway. or make it unroamable with fewer costs.. just remember the walls on beta. way more easy with terraforming. so more expensive terraforming will not prevent anti roamable gamma islands if the holding corp chooses to do so.

So Zortarg, we are basically in agreement.  Since corps will make it more difficult to roam the islands regardless of the costs we should make terraforming more expensive (MUCH more expensive, maybe 10x or 20x) as that will at least slow down the rate that islands will get completely walled off.

If the DEVs want gamma islands to be walled-off (except for the teleport areas) sooner than later then reduce the price.

Since I'm a firm believer that terraforming is a PvP deterrent then it is inherently BAD for PO to allow easily accessible terraforming.

Making terraforming cheaper is a BAD idea.  If whole islands get completely terraformed (because it's cheaper) then say bye bye to small gang roaming of gamma.

It seems you guys green-lighted any idea that was thrown out there during that meeting, DON'T DO THAT!!

Currently, with a small population just a few people can completely cut off a teleport in just a couple weeks time.  With terraforming costing less, then those same few players can terraform that much more, which would be VERY bad indeed, especially if it's more than a few people doing it over a couple months.

Small gang roams are the basic unit of pvp in PO.  Every time you guys introduce a barrier to small roams, you lose players.  Terraforming is a basic obstruction to small gang roams.  Please reconsider this and consider making terraforming MORE costly than it is now.  Terraforming should take many weeks if not months or years to affect whole islands.

Arga wrote:

But when those changes negate literally 100's of man-hours in resource gathering, construction, factory, NIC farming, and terraforming time; a 'little notice' is the least they could provide.

At least they did it before you spent thousands of man hours in stead of a mere couple hundredbig_smile

But really, this will help open up smaller gangs roaming gamma.  It may not be good for you personally short term but it's good for the game long term, any noob can see that.

Additionally, as I have been on the receiving end of the DEVs god-mode-nerf-batting (personal inventory wipe, rep nerf, wall nerf, troiar Mk2 nerf, etc.) and not being reimbursed in any capacity, I advise that you to stop your whining and suck it up, soldier!  Adapt and move on!

True, the lifespan of all CT's just went up.  No need for a bunch of Mk2 cts drops anymore.  Although I would assume the few cts should be worth more because of their rarity.

Many of you new guys don't know this but early on in the game (read before a large tele network and highways) people used to complain about travel times.  1 hour to go here, 1 hour to go there...

Then they took the extreme position and made it easy to get anywhere quickly by increasing the tele network and adding highways.

Today, we are back to where we were when the game first came out, long travel times.  At least we have highways, but with a much more restrictive tele network.

Always black or white.

Determine at what point it breaks over a allowable limit and scan fits to manage it

It's not a fit problem it's an extension problem.

A particular tyrannos fit can be okay/underpowered under one pilot and broken/overpowered with another.  The only way to "fix" it is to have players send a screen of their skills and then for you to ban them from that fit/bot while allowing others to play with it.  Also you have the conundrum of determining at what point is "x" overpowered or not.

Just talking about it is making me feel the mech tourney is already fail even before it starts.

Why am i not accumulator-stable with my Mesmer without Remote Energy ?

is:
Because your crap accumulator extensions!

That displayed Mesmer is a fail fit for both PvP and PvE.  I believe his point is that he needs 5x t4 accum rechargers just to run his guns stable, which was to point out the absurdity of the Mesmer accum recharge vs its accum needs.

In reality, for PvP, even running with a single accum recharge would be considered fail (I was in m2s, we always discouraged those fits).

So in essence, for "real world" fits (the kind that won't get you killed in under 10 seconds) the Mesmer is no where near cap stable.

The typical PvP Mesmer has a recharge between 16 and 21 accum/sec.  That's why pilots have complained that after 8 or 10 shots and a couple armor reps they have to pull back and recharge for a minute and a half.

Sadly, fitting a single t1 injector more than doubles the mesmer accum recharge despite having energy skills at 10/10.

Hunter wrote:

Yes, my dear noob with "Energy management" = 7 and "Accumulator expansion" = 5. That's more simpe way for you. lol
as wariant shoot yourself.

Hunter, even with both skills at 10, mesmers are no way near cap stable, so don't mislead.

Secondly, mesmers have a bonus for repping which if you fit a medium rep (if you want to take advantage of the bonus) takes even more accumulator/sec than 6x t4 em guns.

Mesmers are grossly underpowered for the bonus' they are designed to use.

Take the time to spec into a Seth
-> it has a larger accumulator base
-> all 3 bot bonuses are useful
-> you get an extra head slot
-> you get bonuses on guns with a much longer range
-> all for the cost of 14% dps (which can be overcome, and then some, by using a tuner in the extra slot.)

If you going to filter out Jasdemi's kills, you should also filter out all the m2s kills (some of them mine)  during the insurance fraud days (January 2011).  There are hundreds of kills still counted which were not pvp related.

1. I don't need to SS every other battle to concoct a story of the type of player I am.  We both have a reputation between enemies and friends, it would be interesting to see what they say about each of us.

2. Yo, hey, hai, I just got confirmation that in many of those screens you were with friends (Optikan, etc.).  That particular screen was from May 24th, 2011, you trying to sell that you were solo (arrow pointing to you with the word "blob" in screens) but you lie... tsk.. tsk...

Here was the involvement in that screen -> http://perp-kill.net/?m=related&id=13122 (it was an even fight, slick)

3. There was never a 1000 man blob.  But you were part of CIR, which was part of Novastrov alliance, which was nicknamed "Nova-Blob" by the whole server.  Also, once all m2s got DEV wiped (no equipment, back to t1 fits) and Styx was banned, m2s was regularly blobbed by t4-fit Nova-blob during intrusions.  This especially happened after Nova got it's a$$ handed to them after a 45 to 45 man fight despite you guys having t4 gear vs our t1 fits.

Looks like to me you get caught with your pants down a whole lot Lemon.  Not the mark of an elite player.

I have solo roamed A LOT and have very seldom get caught by large gangs.  Learn to play noob-slayer.

Secondly, by showing those screens you want us to believe that someone said "uh-oh, Lemon's out there solo, lets get a gang of 10 to kill him."  Rather, because you are yourself are not that smart a player (my assumption), you get caught with your pants down repeatedly by large gangs... at least that what it seems to me.

Thirdly, you were part of the biggest BLOB-party in history on this server and you were very proud of it.  In fact when you guys brought a gang 4x the size of m2s for an intrusion you were proudly quoting how you guys brought "90" guys.  You embraced blobhood.

Fourth, you kill noobs in game and troll noobs here on the forums.  Takes a real elite player to do that, ohh-yeah!  You did it before with FOOM and are doing it again now.

Lastly, I must admit you are very efficient at trolling and killing noobs.  Congratulations you have earned the prestigious title of [Lemon the Noob-Slayer!]

I don't know if it is still the case but about a year ago chemical bullets needed level 5 as well.  I don't know if they still do have the requirement but I do remember clearly as it wasn't something I wanted to get to level 5 in smalls as I was going to focus on mediums.

I think you confused. Drink some cofee.

Wrong. You are confused...

I never compared Troiar to Tyrannos.  I was responding to Hunter's post as to why the Troiar and armor rep tunings were rightfully nerfed.

Also, what it took to kill my troiar (other than a small army) was a single Ictus and one other bot.

On a side note, isn't it interesting how the counter to anything and everything seems to always be an Ictus?

You don't want use armor rep tunings? - ok. nerf it.

Fixed.

Troiars needed nerfing because I tanked 18 NOVA-Blob for 5 minutes in my troiar.  that's Imba, no explanation needed here.

Armor rep tunings needed nerfing because 1x t4 tuning used to give 64% more rep power.  Compared to Numquol robotics level-10 which gave only 50% more rep power.  People would stack multiple tunings.  When a single stackable module is more powerful than a level-10 extension, that's Imba.

that "fairly easy fix" is rather hard, since that bonus is appliead like ALL OTHER BONUS that robots give.

The fix should be easy.

Right now the recharge formula:
= (base recharge) x (1 - energy management - pelistal robotics bonus)

it can be changed to:
= (base recharge) x (1 - energy management) x (1 - pelistal robotics bonus)

This would work because:
1. This formula is similar to other formulas used.
2. The pelistal recharge will still be strongest but not overwhelmingly so.
3. This change will in no way affect yellow, blue, industrial or even green's w/o the specific bonus, like the Ictus.
