Yet another harrasing post from an alliance of people breaking the game yet again to harass people on alpha. How long will this be allowed to continue?

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.

Who said chivalry was dead?

Safety of alpha and lack of beta incentives is TBH one of the primary reasons of game's gradual decline. I really don't understand players vouching for it, as if they are rooting for the ruin of Perpetuum.

It's trolling evolved, and Tamas already got baited by it. WP, WP.

I see why Zoom keeps deleting these.

Oh, so you are just a troll with no argument to bring to the table and support your statements? No wonder you aren't going anywhere with your claims.

I can only say that you don't even have the facts to operate with your claims.

First of all, there are multiple ways to obtain cortexes, and artifacting is probably the worst of them.

Second, we fought against corporation who fielded UNLIMITED (duped) robots with maximum tiered equipment (t4) while the rest of the server didn't even have the technology, nevermind production, high enough to have those modules. Kernel grind was tens of times worse than now, and even after farming NPCs on beta for 5-6 hours a day for 5 months we had only about 60-70% of tech-tree unlocked.

Third, afterwards we fought against server-wide coalitions who were ready to petition devs on any small issue when they lost a fight. This all happened way before gamma was introduced into the game. Mining beta was a lot more unsafe, alpha mining wasn't endless cash-in, it was nothing like you would compare to the current situation.

Now, if you look at the current situation and compare it, even alpha corporations have a lot more space than before to be competitive enough, however when the problem lies within the leadership of those corporations, there's nothing much we can do roll There are reasons for those complaints such as making beta more attractive for people to actually have a more solid reason to fight for it, but many alpha-scrublings are also pulling the blanket on their side.

Improvise, Adapt, Overcome. Ewar mechs can have a decent tank if you are willing to not have a full rack of Suppressors and ECM's. The fact that there are pretty much De Facto standard fits with ewar mechs is not a good thing IMO.

Oh, don't worry, if those ridiculous changes ever get pushed live, we'll change our fits and fleet composition accordingly. Not like we had to do it 5-6 times already in the past roll When the fits we saved the points for almost 10 months got nerfed right before we wanted to field them because of someone else's inability to 'adapt and overcome', we didn't whine for a year unlike certain individuals, but moved on to the next best alternative.

However, those changes will kill EWar as a class, and diminish EWar bots usage to 0 (except Demob Zenith, but it won't matter much considering that tanked DPS is going to be the king in this case). So, please handout the respecs for people who spent their valuable time and effort skilling up EWar to be able to do a single PvP role, and who will be left useless in EVERY area of the game because of your ingenious balance insights.

You, however, will find a new thing to whine about, believe it or not, after those changes are introduced.

Actually, this topic has been around the 2+ years that I have been playing Perp.. And I suspect much longer than that. You are correct that it is a small minority of people that post on the forums about such things as this. But there is also a very small minority of players in Perp that have enough experience and knowledge of the game to be able to have an educated opinion on the matter.

Care to link anything that is not yours/Burial's/Merkle's/Lucian's whining?

Your 'educated opinion' is summed up in this article. You've shown the worth of your experience with all your recent fit suggestions in this thread (why are we even having this discussion? Oh right, because devs paid attention to yours 1 year long whining roll). Outside of Lemon, Mongolia, Styx, Yoslin, Siddy and 5-6 other veteran guys, I really doubt anyone can even be referred as educated opinion of experience, especially when they are talking about their-dear-selves.

If you really think you are so good, why don't you show it on the battlefield or provide us with the proofs?

Divinity: Original Sin is out in three days (June 30), and it also has 4 ppl coop too.

Enjoy the atmosphere of awesome RPG - wait for Jabber ping - login and cleanup - continue enjoying the awesomeness.

Masking, speed, range, no LOS. What do you mean by completely vulnerable to DPS bots?

EWar bots with your proposed 'balanced' changes won't be able to do anything to stop DPS bots from killing them in a matter of seconds for being the glass-cannons as they are. LOS/masking/range don't matter in any way if there is a mech on your ***, you won't be able to stop it or delay it IN ANY WAY.

Basically, EWar pilots are pure PvP pilots. They ONLY thing they are useful for is PvP - their specialty is not needed in any other department of the game, not even ratting, because it is a lot more sufficient to bring an extra DPS bot. They can't farm, they can't make money, they are existing only by the support of others for the services they provide. If they don't have a miner account/DPS account, they cannot exist outside of corporation and outside of PvP - and I know quite a few people who only play a single dedicated EWar account. With your changes, by fitting 1-2 ECCM modules and putting 10-20k EP into ECCM skills, you want to render people who specced into this only role USELESS in the only field where they can do something.

It will basically destroy ANY need for those robots to be played by people and fielded in PvP, as they will be substituted by much better possible alternatives. IF those changes ever go live, free respecs must be handed out to accounts with skilled EWar, because they will be left useless in the ONLY area where they can have some use. And, EWar bots will also require a significant buff in some other area if they get nerfed EWar-wise, otherwise those bots will never be produced and bought and sold and fielded again. No new players will spec into EWar either, as when even veteran skills are going to be lackluster in the case of your suggested changes, newbie EWar pilots are just going to be a complete waste.

Also, EWar has NEVER been a problem - only several special people (or rather, a group of people) are rooting for those changes since a certain period of time. With that, devs also need to remember that on forums only a MINORITY of community is present (it is the same for the most games out there), and a MINORITY of that MINORITY is strongly trying to force these changes upon ALL OTHER players in-game. It is going to have huge repercussions if the bigger picture is actually taken into account - balance is only a small part of the question here, it is a question of gameplay, game design, and character development.

Devs, why do you refuse to test the actual numbers and combat situations on the test server with player demonstration?

Devs, why do you want to leave EWAR pilots completely vulnerable to any DPS bots, unable in any way to defend themselves with those new changes?

Devs, why do you want to make it so that starting characters are going to be completely useless in the EWAR department on the battlefield, balancing around endgame numbers?

It's easy to dismiss "morals" in game when you have none. This isn't nor has it ever been about "if I can't do it then you can't either" as you put it. I could give a *** less about Initia, and as far as I know the only reason JOKE had any intrest in it at all was for sentimental reasons. Your effort to turn this back around on us to make it seem like we would have abused transport missions the way you have is more of what I have come to expect from you. This is just a spin on the same argument of "everyone else does it!" You're just adding "if you could have you would have".

Just to get a point across, I'll type this is simple words your feeble mind can understand. NOT. EVERYONE. IS. A. CHEATER. LIKE. YOU.

What would you say about Jita abusing Protection Refresh bug back couple of years back? Must be difficult to have a leader who mentions 'moral' only when it benefits his personal interests.

Talk about 'reputation'.

It's not the players job to balance the game imo

You are correct, but considering the player gap and how small this game is, it would not be to much to ask to leave new players some breathing space to grow either. It's like CIR/PHM want to prove the Devs wrong again and again , because x y or z was not changed and say to them; 'I told you so, it was going to fail.' I recognize CIR well deserved superiority and the commitment to their members, but a little humility and understanding that this game has never really taken off would go a long way. Sometimes doing nothing helps.

However, I still know as well as the Devs that not enough has been done to improve player retention.

O really sir? What have you personally done to improve the population and decrease the player retention? Please provide us a list.

Why don't you look at it from the point of view that CIR provides pretty much endless high-end content to any other party in the game (PvP, politics, territory control) by actually undocking and fighting? Personally I a lot more sincerely remember my enemies from the past (not only from Perpetuum; from many other games as well) for providing me an exciting challenge, tens of thousands of hours of content and making me try my best, rather than remembering all of the big mouth 'well-wishers' from the game chats and forums who haven't moved their finger to do a thing for the game quality except complaining about the same thing over the years.

It's not a problem caused by CIR, it is a problem of incompetence of your own leadership.

Make detection/masking fokken DYNAMIC.

It can be next step in game evolution in regards to detection, starting from 1000 range on release, to dynamic radius range (what we have right now), to dynamic detection/masking.

For example, make certain plants influence your detection/masking, both increase and decrease different values. At least it would make sense to plant or destroy the plants in fights, it will create a lot more room for strategy and planning of big fights, roflstomp ambushes and so on. We have incubators for all kinds of plants, but they are hardly ever used for anything, because they don't have any value right now.

We have a ton of useless buildings on Beta too, why not make it so that some of them increase your masking or detection value when you are within/next to them? Like that Mount Yula in Novastrov that has a huge station on top of it, why not make it increase your detection value to observe the surrounding territory? Kinda makes sense logic-wise and adds some value to that location. Same goes for a lot of other buildings if being next to them increase robot's masking value, that can be used for hiding/ambushing/scouting. It would add varying geographical value to islands as well, as each island would be different in that regard due to current building locations.

Some other modules, like vector or cone detection (not sure if it possible; basically, detecting in a straight line (arbitrary let's say 500m wide and 3km long) or in a cone in front of the robot), but I'm not sure if the engine actually allows it. This would add more skill and variability in detection, as it would make backstabbing and hiding easier if you know the variables of enemy or friendly detection.

Other modules like massive increase in masking for long cooldown (like 30 sec for 180 sec cooldown?), would also add more dynamic elements to the detection/masking game, as well as could be used creatively in big fights or roams and ganks. Big cooldown allows it to be used EITHER for initiation OR escape, but not both at the same time. Escaping is even harder as masking doesn't reset the lock. At the same time this involves many other variables that need to be held in mind, such as speed, enemy position, enemy movement vector, terrain, ECMing for escape, etc etc - damn, that adds so much juice and skill to tactical and strategical planning if implemented right. Tweak current module values to allow and balance the implementation of these, and you are set.

Ideas like these for dynamic detection can be thrown at you in large quantities, if you guys only ask and actually care about it. This is something that would bring meta to the whole new level and add another layer of competition and skill.
