I agree with OP. The new system needs a buff and extra EP to advance sparks is one way to accomplish.

Better would be if we all just got 30 points by default.

/troll

Being for real, the spark EP req should be removed completely like Navigation was. Give everyone 10 by default. And then work toward nerfing the system for real, like removing it completely once you upgrade highways, add effective contracts system, add remote buy/sell market orders, reconnect Alpha Triangle, and add more teleport links where dead teleports currently exist.

Oh you knew it would be. Though I am a little disappointed in the timing. It would make more sense to incorporate the change with the gamma reset but whatever, all my *** was moved months ago.

$10 for reset waaaaay too cheap ...should at least be cost of new account, at very least. And really should have some kind of cooldown, like once year at longest. Monthly may be too often, and no time limit on cooldown is BROKEN.

Resets are clearly in demand so I do not blame Devs for cashing in on that demand. I encourage it. But if Devs look at resets as some windfall revenue stream that they want optimized with some pricing scheme that maximizes revenue, then it is a mistake. Cheap resets may get you more revenue, but that would lead to TACTICAL resets. That does not sound healthy for the game. They should be priced (with cooldown) as an option most people would rarely take.

Alpha mining is *** overpowered compared with beta right now.

I would suggest we do the following easy changes:

  • Alpha 1 mineral spawns are no more than 5m in size -1

  • Alpha 2 mineral spawns are no more than 10m in size -1

  • Alpha 1 and 2 spawns increased in number to 15 -1

  • Beta spawns of all minerals increased to 80m in size -1

  • Alpha 1 stations are nerfed Arguably OK

  • Alpha 2 stations are nerfed to alpha 1 levels Arguably OK

  • Industry aura's on beta increased in strength to give 30% benefit Arguably OK

This should make alpha mining ok for small corps and individuals but make larger corps living there struggle exponentially. It should also decentralize the alphas.

Under the current dynamic spawn mechanics it would make little difference to if Alpha mining spawns were smaller. As soon as one is depleted another one pops up. Yes, this would make it more tedious and require more time in locating new mining spots, but overall little change in potential mining capacity.

Gunner's idea about reducing yield, thus slowing mining is more effective and to the point for thos wanting a nerf.

However I disagree entirely with any Alpha mining nerf, despite worries of muti-accounts and easy-mode mining.

FOR GODS SAKE LET THEM *** MINE!!! It will only reduce the cost of minerals and free those of us who hate mining from ever having to do it again.

This game needs a vibrant economy more than anything else on the economic front and carebears do in fact provide economy. Why the hell do you want o 'make it harder' to mine on Alpha. You will NEVER EVER force people to play on BETA if they don't want to go there ...never. Some may be incentived for better yields, but they are few and far. And you still don't have EPI on Alpha.

Production, however should be buffed on beta to encourage more people to want to control outposts. More PvP yay! And carebears can still feel safe all docked up and cozy.

As for perpetual mining accounts I think the only beneficiaries of this would be existing Vets, not new players to the game. New player have to pay and use those account to train them up. Vets just log them in on demand.

And for the idea that mining on alpha should be nerfed globally to somehow effect those with existing armies of mining accounts ...just very bad solution. This would not only affect player 1 with his 20 accounts but also the 20 players with 1 account. It makes no sense to nerf mining globally to punish specific multi-account "abusers," Burial.

I do appreciate the humor in the idea that the multi-account issue is suddenly so real ...for industry.

I assume, the EP earned will remain the same? ie, one EP per minute gets switched to a daily package that contains 1440 EP?

Also, the terraforming reimbursement ... one package per terminal.

Lets say STC kills PHM terminals frequently, causing them to rebuild more terminals, which STC then kills. In the meantime, STC has a terminal on Imidero that stands for all time, and the base around it is terraformed more than most islands.

Does PHM get 20 terminal terraforming reimbursement packages for being bad while STC gets one package for being good?

Hypothetical question, of course. fuuu

I was wondering if one were to deconstruct and then put up a terminal over and over for the next 2 weeks ...would this also effect the package?

I guess resetting a single account could replace the need to purchasing new accounts, but then I thought multi-accounts were baaad

More details on EP reset would be nice. I can see potential for abuse with low cost, low cooldown. I personally only want to reset this account. My other 4 are more/less to my liking.

Hopefully your cost/time structure is geared toward players that simply need to make one-time or rare adjustments. But I guess if you will be permitting skill lowering at a cost, the system could be quite fluid.

Please, do expand on details for Resets and Leveling Down

Bold move, much needed!

I like the 3 day activity on EP. This is fair coming from one that does not log in too often. Active players should benefit. (EDIT: how about EP for 3-day forum activity lol)

I love the reset option. Why should anyone care how one spends EP on his own account. As long as there is some barrier in time/cost it becomes impractical to abuse TACTICALLY.

I like the 50% EP only, especially since it will goad all the P2W haters. I have no intention of using it as a higher EP player where EP has diminished returns. If it makes new players feel like they are catching up good for them and good for your pocketbooks. And it's just in time as Follow is being removed for it's P2W abuse ...lolol

Oh gamma plans changing again. Shocker fuuu

Overall good news for game's longevity ...bad news for P2W haters

Dennis, everything is a bit of  climb the first few weeks, but stick it thru for the better rewards, thats the whole premise of the game and the one EP per minute.

When I learned a few weeks ago that the Mission System would not be complete for Steam I pretty much wrote off this game as hopeless. Just get ready to see this post 1000 times.

Hopefully they buy the line about how hard it is for a "couple weeks"

...I really hope they do.

Sorry I did not articulate my thoughts properly.  My concern is not the range itself but the fact that this will be a huge buff to erp fit bots. One more armor rep tuning for god mode reps or more damage to a fit that has one damn good tank. So to say it was a nerf was wrong . I just fear the range fits will be obsolete. Again I am very short sighted in these things because I lack a lot of combat experience.

Best debuffer in game is the the zoombot. Enhance it's lows with tears and you can debuff anything in game. Some of the best pilots are Burial, Shadowmine, and Line. Those guys are wicked sick playing that bot.

My best suggestion to you is develop new robots and modules that are designed to assault gamma bases. You are going to have to do this sooner or later in order for gamma to work long term there is no way around it.

Change your terraforming or whatever, but seriously, you guys need some new bots and toys. If every "balance" is a nerf or a reset, just throw in the towel now and save us from a long, agonizing death. There are other games to invest my time in...

Oh walls. Put them behind mech impassable to be out of LOS and keep the lights out too. Not sure we'd see any real difference from Turtle-Cliff-Terraforming versus Turtle-Wall-Terraforming.

But hey go for it.

Sorry Rage but, STC would never "allow" us control of any outpost.  Rage you weren't here but STC fought tooth and nail in November to hold the outposts.  There were fights everyday.  The truth is we took control of all outposts despite all attempts by STC.

Anyway, what does Merkle know, he wasn't here in November and most of December.  He's just spinning.

No I was not here in November to my regret. I could only watch the KBs. And I know Merkle is full of poop. I was quoting for he sake of illustrating both "ridiculous" and "deluded"

Umm when STC takes Betas and Gammas, they're undefended as in the owners don't even log in or have unsubbed.
When you take Betas and Gammas they're .... undefended as in you "waited" or you "decided not to defend it" or your fleets got wiped and you did not come back.

You have not done anything we did not expect.  SpT wasn't the reason you were able to.
You could have done it with half the sparks.  If there was a problem with SpT it was never the amount, it was the no cooldown between them. Missions and tokens production would not have been possible if a cooldown of longer than the time it took to walk between the farthest stations to get assignments was in place, and thats about 10 minutes. Your mind is in the mission and logistics aspect of SpT, so I'm not surprised you bring this garbage up and throw it in with Instant Power Projection.

You guys could do most anything PvP wise in 10 minutes if you were smart about it Yes, it's possible to be about anywhere in 10 minutes, but that hardly means people will be WILLING to criss-cross the map at a moments notice everytime there was a SAP active or some POSSIBLE fight. And how many fights are still going on after 10 minutes? ...you missed it. Most times a person teleports to a POSSIBLE target location, rarely a SURE one. It would be extremely boring to run back and forth on the map every time there is a SAP or a POSSIBLE fight. People will not drop what they are doing and INVEST the TIME for that, not even 10 minutes. Those 10 minutes stack up when you do that 10-15 times. And doing that 10-15 times a day is what happens with Sparks ...more really.

Because this game does not have remote contracts, and travel sucks in the game a huge byproduct of this change will be to make remote mining operations much less efficient and managing market orders quickly in multiple locations extremely difficult. These are perfectly understandable inconveniences that the Spark Nerf make more problematic. And I am with you in finding solutions for these problems, like a Contract System and Remote Buy/Sell Orders and Better Teleport and Highways System. Sparks is a bad solution to those specific problems.

But hey, you guys are just PvPers, and evidenced by your "The followbot nerf hurts us, so nerf everyone equally ...because! (Gunner Logic)", I don't expect you to think of other aspects of this game. Again, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to thinking you know the thoughts and motivations behind these arguments. You're so lost in the Corp Dialogue lens its just sad.

Right about now, someone needs to start running around screaming "power projection, power projection".

True story, back in October when the spark-power projection debate started (and very few people believed in it), I told Balfizar that if we take one station that all the rest would fall pretty readily.

Balf did not really believe me, (besides all he wanted was to get Dom back), but Balf decided to humor me and we decided to run an experiment and see if we could take all of NIA once we took Dom.

What we found (to my surprise) is that after Heydelhorn and Moyar fell, the rest of STC & allied outposts went much quicker than we ever expected.

The spark fueled power projection was so absolute that we decided to hit your gammas (again with astounding success).

This experiment showed that using sparks to power project was not a theory but reality.  Now you may have noticed that recently our side has not been complaining as vigorously about sparks as we are the new "Kings of the Hill".  Even so, I still think 10 sparks per player is bad for the game, but if Zoom wants to take his good ol time, who am I to complain.  The view is pretty nice from up here. big_smile

Zoom, if you do Nerf Follow, the very least you can do is reset NEXUS and Remote Related EP.

No EP reset, I never got reset when they nerfed Industry.

Was that the one skill, recycle from 3% to 2% or something like that. maybe two skills, remind me? Or was it about 12 skills?

If he goes through with it he should table until AFTER Steam. The rediculous Follow "abuse" argument will be even more irrelevant with Steam population. This is a low population tactic (and its not abuse in my opinion anyway).

Zoom, if you do Nerf Follow, the very least you can do is reset NEXUS and Remote Related EP.

Those skills are still useful, but in a completely different and/or limited way now. Anyone still wanting them can easily skill them back up. But many, especially those like me--with high points in NEXUS and other Remote abilities concentrated on one account--would prefer to have the option to choose a different path. It's only fair given this is a THREE YEAR OLD ABILITY.

I'll still use some of the good NEXUS skills, but on primary combat accounts, not support accounts. Isn't that how you want us to play your game Zoom? Take the sting out...

Objections from Burial, Line, Shadow in ...3...2...1

Just not sure SpT is needed since you guys kinda blew out the whole "SpT enabled power projection" forum argument since you took back all the Betas and a few Gammas, when your numbers returned, DESPITE the change not being implemented. Numbers win in this game.

You still don't get it, Cassius. If Devs want Two Power Block Server, then keep SpT. If Devs want Regional Power Block Server, remove it or nerf SpT to all hell.

Cassius wrote:

-1 to Nexus and remote reimbursement, these are still valuable to Alpha and Beacon Farmers, and even in PvP, you simply have to pay attention to the second bot. Or have someone else do the Nexus/RSA/RR.

After reset you can reapply if you want. Of course NEXUS and Remote abilities still have plenty of use. They are not useless. But the way those skills will mix from one character to another will be COMPLETELY different. Is it such a big *** deal? You already getting this *** Nerf!

Zoom, reset the EP on above mentioned. It's the least you can do aside from dropping the whole ridiculous Follow idea in the first place. Revisit Follow AFTER Steam. That's what you should really do.

Not sure what you're patching but on the subject of patches:

Hope you reset Gamma and nerf SpT in same patch, not separate. It's convenient to have sparks while clearing out of Gamma. With Sparks nerfed And islands reset maybe you can go so far as to reconnect Alpha Triangle and make use of the Teles with no destinations.

Since Follow is three year old mechanic you should reset EP on all NEXUS and Remote related skills. Take the Sting out of an already highly controversial nerf.

Yes to buying Faction Bots ... Would I buy a Vanguard Mesmer for 45000 tokens, hell yeah!
Would I grind 2 months to do it, hell yeah!
Would  I do it again ... umm duh, hell yeah!

45000 tokens? If thats the baseline for affordable then say goodbye to any chance of anyone playing this game but a very very few mission exploiters with nothing better to do. That you would even spit out such a number shows how far out of touch you are with normal game-play.

Absent some wild scheme or exploit that would take about 2 months of full-time-job game play with one character.

What can you earn with tokens per hour with one account without exploiting or running 20 scarabs to move transport goods?

I'm really curious
