@ Celebro

I agree with you.  Sometimes there were some great quotes on there, and a little friendly trolling is never a bad thing.  The simplest solution is to have an official killboard run by the DEV's and make users log in to post, but until they implement it, I don't support any 3rd party kill board with anon comments.

Do you not understand how non-affiliated sites ARE a representation of the DEVs and there products?  What are new players supposed to think when you go on there are see people spewing racists, homophobic, and hateful remarks at each other.  What about Valve,  say Perp applies for Steam.  Valve starts to look into the game to see if it meets the requirements, and is a product they would like to see on steam.  They come across the kill boards and see that ****.  What are they supposed to think?

I hope your being ironic, cause if you don't understand how that affects their game and their product,  you should never be put into a PR position, or own your own business.

I am glad its getting 'balanced'/fixed AKA the Perp Sledgehammer,,,,,  Its all game breaking anyways ----

Thanks for the infinite money and infinite subs - too easy

OH HELL YA!!  The market is gonna be packed!!!  Thank you!! Thank you!!

I realize that beacongate is all the rage at the moment, but would it be possible to spare some love for the sell order?

+1, While killboard comments stopped being funny a long time ago, its not really important in the slightest.

Yes it is, if new players look into this game to see if its somthing they want to play and see the racist and homophobic vitriol that is spewed by a select few individuals on the killboards, they are going to think that that is how the whole community is.  So disabling the killboard comments might just be the best thing that could have happened to this game.

Even though that site is not owned or run by AC, it directly impacts and reflects upon AC.  And tbh I am quite surprised at how long the Devs actually let that little S*** show go on.

From here on out can we call this Beacongate?  It sounds more official that way.

@ DEV zoom:  I hope you guys were looking to stress test your servers, cause over the next couple of days they are going to be pushed to their max.  With one little statement, every player in the game just went:  "Oh ****"  and will be doing beacons from here on out until the Nerfbat drops.  Also, I don't know where you got your "~50" beacons number but that is quite literally IMPOSSIBLE to do.  If someone was consistently running 50 beacons at a time, your servers would catch fire.  The MAX we have been able to pull off is 10, And that is REALLY REALLY pushing it.

Why did STC survive and thrive where other didn't

I/We in STC have put in a lot of hard work and are dedicated to the game. Corps with poor leadership will always fail in the end. I see lots of good small corps starting and look at their leadership and i see other corps with lots of challenges and poor leadership.

Single case in point strong leadership = strong corp

I completely agree with Tux, from the beginning we had good leadership, and as our corp evolved, it only got better.  We have had 3 CEO's and our best one yet is currently in charge.  We hope he stays there for a long time.  Secondly, it might sound counter intuitive, but Lemon, you yourself had a lot to do with STC surviving.  For about 6-8 months we got the **** beat out of us by Eharm, M2S, Hun, and many others.  I'm not calling anyone out for killing noobs.  We wanted fights, and the vet corps delivered.

The fastest way to learn in this game is to loose.  Then figure out what you did wrong, and don't make that mistake again.  More EP and better equipment is always helpful, but its the tactics that win battles and that's what we needed to learn.

The fact that we came in as under dogs, and knew the odds were stacked against us galvanized our corp.  Yes we lost players, but who hasn't.  The players we did keep were the players, who knew that one day, we would be able to stand toe to toe with anyone, we might not always win, but we have evened the odds quite a bit.  Our entire corp hated Eharm (In a good way!)  you were the threat that forced us to learn, adapt, and eventually thrive.

If any of the newer corps, or newer players read this.  Trust me, IT GETS BETTER!!!  But like everyone else, you are gonna take a beating.  The best advice I can give is talk to the vets,  go on roams with them,  listen and watch what their FC's do, and after the battle, ask them why they did it this way, instead of that way.  Most of this game is learnable on your own, but PVP is fluid, dynamic, and it is full of surprises.  It's also very dependent on the FC's style.  Borrow from others, but develop your own.  A lot of people B***h about the blobs.  But what it really comes down to is tactics, and having more guns then someone else is a good tactic.  It can be beaten but you have to know how.  You have to know when to fight, when to run, and when to die.  One last thing.  Always die face forward, guns firing.  If you run, you die.

Edit:  Grammar

I notice a lot of lag when running beacons and it seems to be a combination of large amounts of containers and lots of wreckage.

You seem to think that the gamma changes are what led to the population dropping.  But seeing how the population was low before the patch seems to make your point moot.  And the gamma patch saw a huge number of players come back to check out the new gamma system.

So from what I am hearing from you is that: If the devs would listen to you then this whole low server population thing would not have happened?

This games problem is not getting people to check out the game, Its getting those people who do check it out to stay and sub.

And yes i do realize that your are not the OP, but when you come in and make snide remarks and offer no suggestions its kinda hard not to think your nothing but a troll.

Your also missing the point.  The point that everyone is trying to get across to you is a little thing called "The law of unintended consequences".  By making one minor change to a system, you cannot possibly calculate or account for all the possible ramifications of that simple action.  By making a shield a top slot item you radically alter the balance of the different builds, factions, and classes.  Same goes for the speed of lights.

The one thing this game has taught me is that the people who play this game, will very quickly figure out how to maximize a system, or how to fully take advantage of a mechanic.  These players have been playing this game from the start.  So who knows the system better, a new player with 2 months of game time, or a player who has been playing the game through all the patches, through all the changes, and who has watched, first hand, how very simple changes have massively altered the game.  I do not mean to say that newer players opinions do not matter.  They matter A LOT.  But after playing the game for two months, you cant just come in and say this should be changed or that should be changed with out thinking about the balance and the effects that that change would have.  Increasing the speed of one class or changing where a mod goes is a major change to the game, and without TESTING that mechanic you could completely destroy the system.

Imagine if you will,  trying to destroy a Tyro Mk2, with a .15 shield absorption ratio, and an full accum recharge time of 30 seconds.  it would take a fleet to take out 1 player.  Now, all of a sudden the green bots rain supreme in PVP.  How will all the other color pilots feel?  Would they stay?  Would they quit?  How would a 1 year pilot who speced into Blues feel when all of a sudden his color is totally obsolete because of a simple change to the shields?  or to the speed of a light bot.  This is the point that the "Pro Vets"  are trying to get across to you.

Energy transfer from a logi bot crosses my mind.  And with logi you don't even need a local rep in the first place.

Edit:  plus greens don't need accum to fire.  A 6 missile volley form a gropho cost around 25 accum to shoot

What I said is that they are gimped when it comes to leg slots. Which they are. I understand that the MK2's can fit a variety of different setups, due to the extra leg slots, however, I am not a year old player. Why should I have to wait months and months to get into a gropho mk2? All I'm saying is make a shield generator a head slot item, I don't think that would unbalance the game any it would just allow newer pelestial pilots to use the few leg slots they do have for other modules. Every other MK1 assault has 3 leg slots, I'm not saying give the waspish another one, just allow them to put the shield gen on their head.

Yes, it would Completely unbalance the game.  wanna know why?  cause then you can run an armor tank and a shield tank AT THE SAME TIME.  You can run 4 plates in the legs, and a med shield in the Top with 3 hardeners.  do you not see how completely unbalanced this would make it?

Edit:  Why should you have to wait a month to get a gropho mk2?  Because everyone else had too.

Hello everyone,

-Shield Generators should be head slot items. The shield tanking bots (Pelestials) are gimped when it comes to leg slots making an effective armor tank impossible. Moving that one module to the head would open up a range of new build possibilities for Pelestial bots.

Boden Mash/Mash Boden

You are missing the point of Pelestial, for the most part Pelestial are supposed to run shields.  Have you ever tried to break a Tyro mk2 that is properly fit out? without an ictus?  Ever tried to break and icky mk2 properly fit out and running logi support?  Green bots cant armor tank you say?  My gropho mk2 disagrees.  You are also not taking into consideration the fact that greens can fire over cover.  <----(A Huge advantage)

As you have said, you are fairly new to the game, and believe me the greens have there place and in certain situations shine better that any over bot in the game.  Wanna siege a gamma? Grophos.  Wanna run a badass shield tank with an insane acc recharge rate? tyro mk2/icky mk2.  I'm not trying to bash on you, but greens are a diffucult class to play.  For one, you have to understand your strengths and your weaknesses and know how to take full advantage of them.  And secondly, you need to master the dropping shields, shooting, raising shields mechanic.  It's not easy, but once you get it down, its awesome. And as to your last point, greens cant armor tank?  Guess what, they arern't really supposed too.  You can very easily armor tank a gropho/mk2.  You can very easily armor tank a Wasp mk2.  But besides those two cases greens are not supposed to armor tank.  They are a dedicated shield class.  There are some good armor tank builds for the tyro mk2 as well.  Ghandi has taught me that lesson on many occasions.  So in conclusion I think you are completely wrong on the greens being gimped topic, you just need to adjust your builds or play to your strengths more.

I would start off by completely disagreeing that you cant do a capitalistic model, as were doing it successfully, and I do believe, please correct me if I'm wrong here, AIC is doing the same.

Quite frankly I'm seeing a lot of people coming back to the game and for some reason all we want to do is just start changing everything.  There are things wrong but by no means terribly in dire need of repair.

This isn't a "tool" problem, this isn't a "communistic" problem this isn't a "ratting" problem.  It's a player problem.

We drive the eco if this game, so why can't we drive it?

This is the question that were all trying to answer, why are the players of the game unwilling to use the current market system.

Answer, because the players of the game don't need to, we have "stuff" everywhere, were not "new" players, we have been around the block a long time, a side from the cortex market, and token market we really don't need to touch anything as we already have it.

What does this do to IF newer player's come into the game?  Well its a major turn off as we all know, but again this is a player problem, we don't need to start seeding T1-T4 mods just because.

As one player not being able to "make" nic, this is a complete farce.  This game is incredibly EASY to make nic in, so much so we have OTHER players complain that one side has too much of it.

In sort Nic isn't the problem, or how easy it is to obtain it.

Start asking the people who have stayed around to enjoy the game, how to make Nic, and become successful, oh the story of how to do, they could tell.

In my opinion the change that needs to happen, is already happening, its what the Dev's are working on right now, that will start to fix the markets, slowly.

Can a Brotha get an amen?

Of course what Martha Stewart forgot to mention is the time it requires to accumulate all those beacons.

ok so add 4 hours to that to get the tokens to buy beacons, I know for a fact that the <12> and 62nd guys are making tokens as fast as I am so you know exactly what im talking about.

And yes 1 billion NIC in a day is just plasma.  I recycle everything I don't need for production and am hording the kernals until after the patch.

but total time to make 1 billion nic is still less than a day.

Syndic wrote:

Why buy from the market when you can simply produce it for yourself?

This is the heart of the problem right here.  With the Devs "Fixing" of production and destroying the production niche by allowing anyone and there mother to produce.  Why in gods name would I buy anything off of the market when I can produce it for almost free?

When producing at a gamma facility with T3 facilities,  there is a 3% difference in material cost between my maxed out production toon, and my combat toon that has no production skills.  This one little "Fix" completely destroyed the market and screwed over every person that invested tens of thousands of EP into being a good producer.  And to add insult to injury the devs refused to refund the EP that people invested into production, basically giving the bird to every person that invested in material eff.  So thanks for that

Secondly, internal markets will always trump open markets.  Why you ask?  Because I would rather sell the mods and bots I make to corpies at cost then sell on the open market for a profit, because 1)  my corpies will use said equipment to kill our enemies and 2) I don't have to move it anywhere, they buy it where I produce it.  Also the fact that there is a max of 30 day sell orders, completely discourages me from putting anything on the market.  I produce mk1 bots in stacks of 100.  I cannot sell 100 mk1 bots in 30 days and it is a lot of work going back around and putting my sell orders back up.  I just don't care that much to do it.

Edit:  I also for got to mention, once you reach a level where you can produce your own equipment you don't need NIC anymore.  I can make over a billion NIC in less than a day running beacons.  Why do I need to sell anything?  I don't need the NIC.  I do this once a month and then buy ICE for all my accounts and still have NIC left over.  So why would I go through all the work to sell anything?

Kind of proving my point about entrenched commnity wide hostility there guys.

Question: Why attack anyone you see on Gamma instead of only attackng known enemies?

You are completely missisng the point of this game.  Ok, so from your perspective, ill just let people who are not known enemies roll out to our gamma base and just stroll around looking at all of our defenses, figuring out strategies for breaking in, maybe safe logging a fleet there.  Do you not see the point that i'm trying to make?  Don't parade around and say that new players don't have a chance.  I was in STC from the beginning, we got the **** beat out of us for about 9 months, until our pilots started maxing out skills and getting into good bots.  But the bots and EP was not what made us be able to defend ourselves.  SKILL is what allows you to succeed.  You can stroll around in a T4+ fit mk2 heavy all you want, but if you don't understand how PVP works, and what strategies work, and HOW TO WIN A BATTLE then you will lose every single time.  You seem to fail to realize that neutrals now, can and usually will be enemies later, and no one in their right mind is gonna allow neutral players to walk about on there gamma island.  Gamma bases are Multiple billion NIC investments, not to mention the days of work that go into them.  No one is going to allow people they don't know to stroll about in there base, nor should they.  And if you think that corps should, you are insane.  you can come into this game and say, "All of this will be mine one day".  STC is proof of that.  we came in as noobs, got absolutly annihilated for almost a year, we lost multiple Beta OP's to much more powerful corps.  And now we are on top, we can compete with anyone in the game, and most other corps besides <12>  wont even engage us in mechs or heavies.  So your point is completely invalid.

273

Because that's the whole point of this game.  Two types of players when it comes to corp relations:  Friends and targets,  and if its ever in question, shoot first ask questions later.

274

(14 replies, posted in Feature discussion and requests)

That's exactly what I was thinking of.  The first time I saw what an ECM does in this game I was kind of confused, because a true ECM does nothing of the sort.

275

(14 replies, posted in Feature discussion and requests)

I was thinking of something along the lines of a radar echo mod (EWAR).  This mod would basically be targeted at one target.  the mod would render the affected target's radar ineffective by generating false radar echos.  Basically there would be a whole bunch of dots on their radar.  None of the dots would show up in landmarks info, and the player would have to pick targets based on what he can see, and his land marks info.  This would make it harder for the affected target to see where and how the enemy fleet is arranged.  They would be more reliant upon there teammates to tell them what direction the enemy was coming from and how their fleet was arrayed.
