Just allow accounts to go into negative EP when deleting characters.  Just dont include the 'required EP' check like they have on extensions.

Should not be hard to code this in either unless you fail at math.

There is a 2k viewed thread all about it on this site.....it's what instigated it, not mmorpg.

Its in the "Balance" section.

The dev's basically gave us a quick work-around instead of waiting weeks for them to code and QA a ton of extra things. It's not a perfect solution, but it's better than nothing for a lot of people.

So for those of us with 3 characters created on our account we will have to save up 8640 EP to delete them and reset our account?

Yes.

The craziest implementation ever...

Least its xmas and I will be afk for a few days to accrue these points....lol!

Its an account wipe. You do not delete anything.

The only thing you will need to worry about is a place to temp store your banks before you utilize the account wipe option via the website/account section.

Zoom I commend you guys. This is FANTASTIC man. I am so motivated to play right now.

Man this would be awesome for the game right now....

Things I predict:

1.) This game will forever live in the shadow of EvE no matter how much it tries to duplicate it.

2.) The game will become obsolete because support for *** DirectX 9 graphics will go away. These graphics remind me of Anarchy Online and the portraits look like what you make in runescape.

3.) Battles will be real dull being only mass blobs where no one will attack each other out of fear of losing their mechs.

4.) People will still complain years down the line of how slow SP gain is even though you can max out all necessary skills in under 4 years of playtime ( if they didn't add more and you were only specialized in one thing like combat or industrial).

5.) The Devs will one day read the game ideas forum and take note.

6.) When they release a majority voted idea they will twist around to only be half as good as it sounded on paper.

7.) E-Wars will get cloak and it will require 1 extension to use and everyone will be using them.

8.) People will rant about cloaks.

9.) The game will turn into EvE null sec gate camps and nothing will happen other than a few rookie bots coming through about once every few hours and the game will become an instant messenger service.

10.) final... People will post more "future of perpetuum" topics years down the line hoping for something better.

it's how they designed the game and this is prob your best bet (bang for the buck).

dont be suprised if you cancel you combat account though and just run the miner/industry one after a month
lol

atm there is just more content in mining/industry.

+1 good post OP.

Myself included, I have lost a lot of interest in the PvE lately. PvP I cannot afford. So afk mining (while playing other games) is where I am getting most my "value" atm.
lol

These are not the respecs your looking for......
tongue

33k people online last night in EvE. 200+- in general chat in PO.
sad

It happened.

PO should offer respec to counter! 1 time respec this weekend per agent! GO GO GO

And you like it. big_smile

2 days downtime is a lot of time for most people man. These games are competitive, and small niche games like this one, people are going to power game it to make it even more competitive. I can see both sides of the argument.

Regardless, new customers should not suffer for the tutorial mission exploit.

They should fix that correctly (1 tutorial mission max per account) and make deleting agents free...
sad

This weekend I predict people will play EvE. They gave out 5 free days yesterday and refunded all the learning points....that's a pretty nasty incentive to come back! lol

PO should offer a single time respec to counter that this weekend.....

I would! Compete for that business PO! Do not let CCP pwn you!

For a full combat skilled ICS agent, takes

  • 1431EP,
thats 23h and 51min worth, to switch to missiles

  • 504EP
thats 8h 24min worth to switch to Lasers

or, if you start with a TM-A combat agent, it will cost you

  • 1736EP
thats 28h and 56min worth, to switch to either EM guns or Lasers.

you wont get the free weapons and bots from the tutorial missions, but there is really no need to delete an agent if you didnt f*ck up the attribute choices.

And what are you planning to fight in? lol

The AK-2 or a light bot?

You need the according robot control line to level 4 to at least pilot the assaults. And that's a pain in the arse if you have it at 0 when you switch. A lot longer than 24 hours. Possibly 2-3 days.

The energy drain ratio is what needs nerfed. It's ridiculous. U can drain an assault bot for crying out loud in 10 seconds. lol

Jettisoning your cargo with a short timer is more realistic.  Make jettisoned cans not be password protected, FFA containers, with short timer (ie 5 minutes).  Maybe do something like equipment jettisoned is randomly damaged in the process (jettisoning is rough on the equipment!), materials remain intact.  It would at least be more realistic.

This would also create more "sandbox" to PvP around....I like that suggestion. I like it a lot actually. You could loot the jettisoned cans, leave1 item, but someone might not know that. So it would attract more PvP to itself....plus it's a good way to pin point where some PvP took (if you were running around looking). being you would see the container box etc...

Very good suggestion.

The ability to deposit, but not withdrawl, would be a huge plus as well.

Good suggestion.

Hokko it is!
yarr

When you have 2 accounts, having to manually type in your email each time kind of stinks.

Anyway to allow for a dropdown list that stores usernames, like in EvE?

So you select a username, and then type in a password?

A deletion item timer is the easiest and fastest way to fix it. That's how they addressed it in Darkfall.

Right click, select all, wait 120 seconds, then items will delete etc.

Simple and sweet. This way drivers can still delete cargo, but it puts more pressure on them when they chose to do so. Not an instant "f you", etc.

This needs to be addressed asap.

Ok, then create a new table called "DeletedAgents". Every time someone deletes an Agent, a record goes into that table with their account ID etc.

Cap the # of deletes to once a year, every 6 months, however the devs feel is a good balance.

Once a account tries to delete an agent, you check that table and if a record is in there, they cannot delete the agent.

Every year, 6 months, whatever the table gets wiped.
