I do like how some use the "sandbox" argument as a reason not to change anything that they don't agree with.

Again, we're back to trying to force people to play your way.

You prefer it your way, I prefer it my way. What is your point exactly?

The more hardcore you make this game, the less people are going to play it.

A certain other MMO contradicts this statement.

Why is it so important to you that Alpha not have the shiny toys that you do, because you're on beta?

I'm not on Beta.

Why should solo players (or corps that dont want to live on beta) be penalized?

Because this is supposed to be a multi-player game, not a collection of single players. Also you don't have to "live" on beta to get the spoils of beta.

You destroy your own argument while trying to counter mine anyway. The only thing they lose is an easy way to make their own high-end modules. They still have access to the market and the end product.

Arga wrote:

What if espitium was recycled from fragments instead of modules?

Just shifting the loop-hole in my opinion.

Hardly surprising that those not in favour are the first to resort to name calling and personal abuse.

Alpha people aren't asking for anything to be made EASIER here. This is a mechanice already in place.

No, it is people who don't want an "easier" mechanic taken away.

Essinatlly this has boiled down to Alpha vs. Beta, with the people on beta getting bored of lack of fighting, upset that people on alpha can make things in saftey and then use it to come out and pewpew them (hello 62nd), which is a contradiction to what they're saying.

I'm not on Beta and I support the change.

This direction of forcing people to beta is not healthy, and should be balanced.

You don't have to go to Beta, only if you want shiny toys.

To be honest, I think Light and maybe Assault bots should have their Epri requirement removed as well. That way, Alpha can have their little self-sustained paradise, but be limited to lower-end bots. You want bigger and better? Interact with Beta.

Yes I agree it should be balanced, however currently it isn't in my opinion and Alpha is self-sustaining when it shouldn't be.

Norrdec wrote:

The new guys aren't used to being able to safely do everything on alpha and see the change as something beneficial.

From my perspective as a new player, Alphas are little microcosms, with little incentive to move to Beta, venture to Beta, or even interact with Beta.

You want to stay on Alpha? Fine, you can be limited to T1 mods and light/assault bots.

"So what if a dedicated alpha corp gets together to farm for recycling needs?" Nothing, but why not sit on beta for an hour?

Because that can't be done solo apparently. Yes, I support aspects of the game deliberately penalising solo players.

Smokeyii wrote:

Removing espitium from them completly removes the one and only "other" option for industrialists to make EVERYTHING ELSE that requires espitium.

Well here is a thought for balancing. Have 2 (or more) ways to make the same thing. In this I mean mineral/component requirements.

So there is one way to do it using epri, or a less-efficient way without but higher requirements of other materials to "synthesize" the same outcome.

Of course recycling will only net you the "less efficient" components.

The ORE itselve is ok. Epri just on Beta, Trit just on Alpha ... but this must be independend from Recycling!

Recycling lower level stuff to make higher level stuff is a loop-hole, plain and simple. I'm glad it is being fixed and I'm an "Alpha noob".

I see people complaining that they cannot make everything in the safety of Alpha islands. Too bad. Alpha islands should in no way be self-sustaining in my opinion, but then again neither should Beta. There should be the constant need for interaction between the islands in one form or another, otherwise things will just stagnate.

Personally as a new player training a character in industry, I welcome this change.

As a method of balance, perhaps change "High Quality Recycling" to raise the percentage across the board.

Huh? hmm

Thought as much but wasn't sure.

I am able to undock with this fit and all modules work. In light of reading about other numerical anomalies I believe it is possibly a rounding error but I thought I would share it anyway.

I have since trained Economical Weapon Usage which has brought it down to 140/143.

Paintball weapon modules? With different coloured ammo? big_smile

Again, I stand by my position:  if you want to see what the enemy is fitting, use a chassis scanner.

I think in regards to killmails it is wanted to show what was destroyed, to add to the pain/gloating of an expensive loss, more than just knowing their secret fits.

Fair enough if it was requested, just something odd I noticed.

Money could be siphoned around using specific sales which look rather innocent compared to direct money transfers. I'm mainly referring to Real Money Trading of course, I just see it as a way to make tracking a little harder.

Also not sure how the market trends are calculated, but it could also be used for manipulation of prices by someone selling to themselves, if it is calculated by sales and not orders anyway.

Since this is a requested feature and not a bug, feel free to close it.

Not sure if this is intended or not, but I've noticed that you can select which sell order to buy from, instead of the cheapest being bought first.

While this is possibly not a bug, I just feel it could be used as an exploit for money laundering. Also newer players might get caught out as well.

Give a small grace period for people to tidy their characters as a "transition" phase to the new system. 1 week should be sufficient in my opinion.

I must admit though, I find the Zoom's Cosby quote quite apt lol

Also the change to the mission reward will make it harder because you don't get to keep usable ore/material that you mined, which is good in my opinion. Didn't make sense to be contracted to mine something for a reward and get to keep what you mined plus the reward.

Those who do put in the effort should be adequately rewarded with the bonuses.

I don't have an issue with introducing player built mining facilities providing they can be raided/looted/attacked, even in Alpha.

Also introducing some volatility to certain elements could be interesting. Such as HDT fields being "allergic" to certain weapons fire. Some ores that degrade once out of the ground and not in terminal storage, to encourage group operations (mining+hauling) instead of solo field-can AFK mining.

This might be better suited for another thread though.

I still like my idea of splitting Industrial and Logistics bots completely. This would allow for more bots in each class and more progression/variety.
