Space Hulks - Derilict ships in orbit above the planet that you can get missions to.  You can teleport up there, take over some specific system and do something to complete the mission.
What you take over could for example be

a 'farm dome' that you have to control the fluctuating environment long enough to harvest some 'crops'.(harvest mission)

Retrieve a data pack from deep in the ship avoiding any roaming mobs (stealth mission)

Destroy demolition bots of an enemy core who are trying to retreive some weapon.

You get the idea.

Taking control of an opponents weapon system for a limited amount of time, say 10 seconds would be cool.

they should implement an extension that you can put point into that automatically auto pilots you to base and docks up when the perimeter sensors are breached.

E-Corp have this already.

Sorry but this would be too overpowered, you may as well just give everyone global radar.  The trouble is to make this idea work you would have to nerf it so much that it would be useless and everyone would switch back to archies.

Open Beta (I dont think ECorp realise its gone live now though).

What if the guy not piloting wants to do something else? I can already see myself laughing hysterically as Siddy if forced to take the "scenic route" back to the outpost. While singing "It was a 5 hour tour" over TS.

Thats what the ejector seat button is for. Pilot can edject any player, gunner can only eject themseleves. Upon ejection your spark is returned to homebase like if you got killed.
As for the "what need" question. Just make them bigger, bad'er, stronger but much much SLOWER.  Think portable turret perhaps....

Excellent. Keep it coming!

I would like to see some heavy mechs that  have capacity for another player to ride in and do something.  E.G a mech that needs one person to steer and another to man the guns.

Think B52 with a pilot. bombardier and some gunners.

lol, I love this logic smile

Thats how it should be though, if no one can see what they are doing turn them off and save some cycles.  If someone comes along turn them on again and just fake anything that 'should' have happened in the meantime. Thats how it should work else its just slowing the server down with unnecessary calculations.

How about a tractor beam that can pull robots from within teleport safe zones (or anywhere else for that matter).  Make them weak on their own, but stackable.  Could be that they can only get traction after the molecular density debuff thing  wears off to give some teleport protection imediatley after porting in but would help prevent long term camping.

A car transporter but for bots would be cool.

How can you class it good for new players when they only get to try out a single build type?
It may be good for beta players who have had the opportunity to play around but its not beta anymore.

I think its safe to say that most new players into the game are going to have very limited knowledge of builds and their do's & don't and as such are going to mess up their EP distribution.  We know that in the 'long term' this wont matter but for new players its the short term that is important and getting the most for your money so you can have fun and do your thing.

Having the 45d reset is good in that respect,  but its not enough.  As it is now that single reset will correct you initial f**k up but wont give you a chance to try different builds so you can find one that suits you.  I know you can create a second toon but as you share the EP you cant try out other builds to the same 'depth' and this is bad for a new player.

For example I've been playing a couple of weeks now, I didnt mess up too bad but I'd like to try a more NEXUS type build.  I'd like to try a missile build, I'd like to try a harvest build. But I cant as I only have a single reset.

My possible  suggestions are:-
1. Either allow more resets within the 45d period.
2. Shorten the 45d period to say 30d but start with more EP and allow more resets.
3. Create a one off 1d trial account that cannot be extended but gives you 50k EP and costs 10 euros.

yeah, I have between 1 and 3 second lag last night and major rubber banding near the cities. unplayable.

It seems a little bizarre to me why If I have one robot in say ICS Alpha and one in ICS Beta I cant move my spark between them???  After all I thought we were remote controlling them from a space station or something.

If I can remote into a server at work using windows I would have thought they would have cracked that by the 23rd century (or whichever one its set in)

Agreed, and Americans actually like the higher ping they get as it gives them an excuse when they fail at pvp more.   tongue

What about other buffage appart from the reppers?  What im hearing atm is that NEXUS isnt worth the points right now for what you get out of it.

I've only been in game a few days so please excuse my ignorance.

My question is about support characters i.e. buffers / healers etc.  I'm assuming that to make on you need to invest heavily in the Nexus skills but before I do that what I want to know (ideally from someone who plays one) is do they make a difference to your squad or will you just be gimped and end up as cannon fodder?

Thanks
