10 seconds from a Shinjalar Mag strip, gathering Prismocitae in a Sequer. Someone launches a Distress beacon on the mag strip, a dozen bots instalock me and melt the Sequer.

It will be passed off as griefer lulz. Me, I think it's a deliberate attempt by shills to sabotage a game on its last legs. I really don't know if the game has a chance. I can shrug the "loss". It was under a Mill. I can even shrug the waste of time but it does concern me when low impact players get bullied like that. I won't take it personal but that in itself is what concerns me. Anyone coming here from Steam will need to be willing to join the Gamma Zergs out of the gate or will be thugged out of the game.

GL Devs. You have a fight to survive and I don't envy your situation.

yeah, that sounds like a roaming spawn. Besides, even if someone did light off a beacon they would not agress unless you lock or agress them first (unless the damn mechanic changed on that too).

But still cool story in thread that was originally about ...wait, I lost track.

There was a player bot there who came right to me, followed me.

There seems to be a concerted effort to discredit this claim I have made and there seems to be a lot of effort being put forth to malign me. I know what happened. It happened twice yesterday. Once on Hersh and this time on Shijalar. The attempt on Hersh failed because I was in a T3 shielded Termis and the mobs never had a chance to take me down.

I'm used to this forum behaviour. I played EVE for 8 years but I really don't see what is being done on the forum here as working. There just isn't enough traffic to bury it in forum war. It won't come as a surprise when the steam people start dropping off because there is active player intervention to push them out.

I might not be here to say I told you so, so I told you so.

Also, title of the thread. "State of the game".

This is the state of the game.

We have actually found someone more paranoid than Abe. You win the golden tinfoil hat award.

All I know is I had a dozen red dots show up on top of me, out of nowhere.
Point still remains the same.

So you died to roaming NPCs because you weren't paying attention. The same roaming NPCs with the same mechanics that have been around for years. Yet instead choose to blame other players for your disregard for player safety.

Got it.

Whereas I support this idea in general, I still ask my self, without going into further details, if this has anything to to with some vet player idiots, making a sport of pulling red npc´s onto newbies latley on alpha´s, to watch them blow up their new shiny s. What a sincere welcome to new players.

Those poor poor newbies in their Scarab Mk2s and Gropho Mk2s.

...wait that doesnt make sense does it?

This here might be the biggest thing you could possibly do for steamlings. Also make the map default to 'passable terrain'

PVE kills both ways or just NPC-to-player?

Modules (both dropped and destroyed, separated ideally) for player deaths would be awesome.

Stranger Danger I would agree with you if the player base was a bunch of absolute *** that have no idea where anyone plants noragis, or mines epi, or where other players live, or what routes they run, or what bots they drive, or what player is in what corp, or or or...

If I see a termis die on beta, I can guess what he is doing, if I see a Symb Die on better, I can guess what he is doing.

Look at the corp tag of who died, find there active OP, nora spotted and dead.  Wonder where your scarabs are?  Look at beta they are located on, find there alpha in point.  Scarabs found.

Common guys this isn't rocket science, even PHM has figured it out.  ( I kid I Kid.)

You of all people know the Ramifications of this.  It's just ONE more tool to separate the Vets from the new players.

Non sense, new players can also use this data to their advantage and avoid hotspots.

This is exactly the problem. Players should not get that level of detailed information from a game output that doesnt even require logging in. Leave that content to teamspeaks, intel channels, jabbers etc.

MoBIoS wrote:

There is noting broke and the killboard is working as intended. Leave it alone and move along.

This applies even moreso if you go back in time to the day before they added exact locations.

There is a limit to how much info regarding in-game fleet movements/tactics that you should be able to get without logging in. Fleet comp, module useage, damage done, island are all on one side. The exact location of all your bots, where you camp, where you farm, where you harvest etc. falls on the other side. Its just too much info for zero work.

I agree this is a really cool feature, and I'm sure we can come up with a awesome way of using it that doesn't make a lot of in game content obsolete.

I agree with Rage. The game should not be sending coordinate data out of the game. The island the event occurred on is plenty.

the hundreds of hours of fun terraforming...that my friends can never be reset....

Are we talking about the hours before or after the Devs didnt believe that people would wall off teleports?

There's high demand for combined teleport beacons that have fast cool-downs like emergency beacons and durable like armored.

I propose adding Armored Emergency Beacons to market for 10 million NIC.

No. And no more jumping through ANY TPs while flagged. The game has enough escape routes as is. Not having a warp-to is what makes the PVP here better than Eve.

At the very least can get a big brother for the Scarab? Something that can move a significant amount of material is sorely needed in the game.

I'm at work still, did the steam date get put in the client or something? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the website.

If you give new player 30 days free ep-Boost, than define new player.
Accounts subscribing after this Wednesday, after steam release, accounts created less than 30 days ago, having less than 100k EP, the one with less than 30day active playtime, accounts created this year?

Literally any of those is better than none of those. And it is lightyears better than giving new player negative EP.

It really needs a minimum of 30 days for newly purchased accounts. Logging in and buying all those neat new skills is a huge part of selling players on this game. The more they can do that, the more likely they are to be hooked. I'd be ok with giving them 90 days. Ignore any Vet whining about "unfairness". You no longer make game decisions for the Vets, you need to do it for the new players.

A little known feature is that you can doubleclick on empty storage space to select all (works anywhere, between icons, after rows, at the end, etc.). I'll try to check what's up with the highlights.

The double clicking tip actually works really well (as well as the shortcut would IMO) so thanks for that.

How hard would it be to allow us to Control+A inside of our cargo, field container, or terminal inventory to select all items? The keybind works in some portions of the game, but not all and it would be a nice feature to add.

Also when splitting a stack of items, the popup for the number of items sometimes is highlighted, and sometimes is not. I can't seem to find a way to replicate it either way, but having it always be highlighted so we can type the number to be split off without having to highlight or Control+A would be a nice quality of life change also.

You guys have been enjoying jumping through TPs to escape PVP since lolpus taught you how.

Armored TPs arent the problem, using TPs while flagged is. Remove any TPing while flagged.

I feel your pain but we can't patch until April 2 anymore, the EP system and payment changes are halfway in, that would be a much larger disaster than teleporting NPCs.

Lets talk compensation then.

So are you guys saying that this is an intentional mechanic, really?

I can see this mechanic will make new players keep playing, not!!

To be fair, most new players right now have negative EP so they wont even be logging in to see this problem.

Seriously just roll the change back so we can launch the game on Apr 2nd without cutting off all but 6 islands.

I realize its not as easy as pushing the rollback button, but surely a reversion is easier than trying to fix all of the extra caused problems, on top of all the other stuff you guys do.

Beta and Gamma are effectively closed for business. Time to pack our *** and get to Alpha.

DEV Zoom wrote:

This isn't a punishment, they actually got half a month's worth of EP in advance that they could spend well before they would have accumulated it normally.

Sure, you see it that way. But do you really think a new player to the game does? For them its two weeks they cant add anymore skills during a very very important time on selling them on the game.

I'd have just thrown them a bone and given them the "oops EP" for free and moved on. It certainly would have made a better impression and I can't imagine all the old Vets would throw much of a fuss over you guys trying to help grow the game.

EVE makes do with 5 clones and x100 times bigger universe.

Adding more ways to achieve global power projection is a bad idea.

Vet concerns are irrelevant at this juncture, it should be all about catering to new players and returning old players to get back in the swing of things and enjoying the game. Steam is now last chance more then ever, once you go F2P there's no going back to 10$-a-month-per-account.

Contracts and remote contracts should definitely be sorted out. Autopilot properly fleshed out. Corp tools added to increase quality of life for the newbie, not for the bored bear who's been sitting on Gamma macro-mining Epri for 2 years pretending to be a factor.

Reset Gamma on the 2nd and close the teleports until the influx of newbies is confirmed not to screw up the server. We lasted 2 years without Gamma, we can make do a month or two more.

Pants on head coalition has no content then.

What are they removing Armored TPs?
