CT's degrade A LOT if you remove them from the factory line. They only degrade 1% each run if they stay in the factory.

Allowing drones like in eve easily tripples the number of objects the server has to keep track of drastically reducing the amount of players you can have in battles before you start getting server lag.

Not worth it, imo.

To support the idea you throw in a very small amount of RP and say that:
"Given I'm a pilot of an advanced tech robot on another planet, my character should be competent enough to realize when he/she can or cannot see the enemy... which then leads to the idea of 'I really shouldn't shoot right now because I can't see the enemy' at times where the enemy ducks behind cover or has a majority of themselves covered by a hill."

Or you the player could look to see if your shots clear maybe? Just saying... its not hard.

Your visual indicator is when shots hit the hill and not the bot. tongue I rarely go through more then one volley before I correct my angle, it shouldn't take you more then 3-4 seconds to adjust at most.

Its a nice idea, but I don't think its worth the server lag.  thats a lot of extra traffic, always calculating LOS at all times compared to only when you fire.

Don't stress so much about hitting hills. Its ok.  Its going to happen.  When you get used to the system its really easy to adjust quickly.  Adjusting to LOS is second nature to me now, I can even tell before I fire if I have LOS just by looking. Maybe change your camera angle? It can be tricky if your doing a top down view, but if you look over your bots shoulder its really easy to see.

Missiles are fine. LOS is fine. Lasers are fine.

If you can't handle paying attention to terrain, then just use Missiles.

LOS is actually working really well.

I don't know why some people have such trouble with LOS.  Me and my buddies have no problems at all, and we're playing the same game.  If LOS was really so broken, then everyone would be having issues, and not just some people. Since only some people are having problems it makes think the problem lies in what the user is doing.  Bad camera angle or something.

i've had no problems with LOS or lasers.  I don't see how its "clearly broken".  I don't zoom to far out and use an over the shoulder view of my bot.  When I shoot the ground I can see why it happend and just take a step or two to fix my shot angle. Sometimes the shot will hit an invisble wall, but there's an obvious hill there just below where the shot hits, its where the laser is hitting that screwy, but not the LOS, the LOS is still clearly blocked in that case.

More buy/sell orders are really cheap to get.

Neoxx your idea sounds good.  I had no clue really what I was getting into, it's amazing what 24 hours of playing the game will teach someone, regretfully I had already blown through almost all 20K EP within the first few hours.   I did speak to a dev briefly, he/she said that it might be an option in the future, but for now they are focusing on bugs, which I don't really blame them.  I'm just hoping it doesn't really gimp my character in the long run having all combat stats, the EP I'll just suck it up and live, the stats are really going to limit my fun factor though I'm afraid.  I assume if I want to delve into mining/manufacturing or whatever that it is going to take forever to even get some of the basics.

Its not so bad getting the basics of mining/indy with low stats.  Its slower sure, and if you split of points your basically becoming a hybrid, and hybrids are always not as good as a dedicated class in any mmo so this shouldn't come as a surprise.

You also could start a second character with crafting stats and spend the points there instead if your worried about the time it takes to train them on your combat toon.

Ya, only six islands, but can still take far too long to check em all if you forget where your junk was.  It doesn't dumb down the game at all.  There's not really any meaningful skill in current system, its just a pain in the butt.

i like this idea.

I just started using lasers today for a change of pace from the missiles.  spent a couple hours killing stuff, the LOS seemed to be fine.

I never saw shots fire way above like with missile misses, sometimes I would hit the ground but it usually was just one out of several shots so it looked more like that was the graphic for missing rather then a tiny bump in the ground blocking me. I never had all my shots of the volley eat dirt.

What is the miss suppose to look like with guns?  Are people sure its LOS problems and not just normal misses?

Either way, laser's were fun. I had no problems.  After hearing and reading all the doom and gloom about the LOS I was expecting it to be much worse then what I experinced.  Definetly wasn't gamebreaking for me.

Not one of you are getting the point and i am done trying to explain it.

Well, you said

"I am sure we can all agree there are a few diff play styles ...PvE, Achievers, Explorers, Crafters, PvPers

WE can also agree that the first 4 play styles can and do play well together and get along well enough to make a game work.

We can also agree that none of the first four play styles gamers(hear after to be respectfully called carebears) work well with PvPers. "

Thing is, Pve, achiever, explorers, crafters, AND Pvp'ers actually work together extremely well in this game.

The economy requires people from each catagory to work together in order to function properly.

The game is fully playable without ever going to pvp islands. There's one resource there thats not on alpha islands, just buy that one from the pvp'ers and mine the rest yourself or something like that.

No one is forced to go to pvp islands, your potential for profit is greater if you do, but you can still become stinking rich never leaving alpha's.

This game is AAA quality. But didn't cost me $50 + $15 a month like most mmo's. It was FREE + $9 a month.

If they want to bring in a little cash with an item shop I have no problem in that.  As long as I don't need to buy the extra items in order to be competitive in game.

If it becomes, he who spends the most in the item shop wins, i'll have to quit. I'm poor as dirt.

But if rich kids want to spend some extra cash for a little fluff and silly things that don't really effect gameplay, who I am to get upset about that? Doesn't effect me, negatively anyways.

It would effect me in a positive way. How?  You get tons of extra cash from the rich people with money to burn.  Thats more money for better servers.  More money for Devs time to fix bugs and update the game.  Takes some of the finnacial burden off my poor *** and keeps the costs of future expansions down to a minimum.

Its a good idea really.  Let those that can afford, pay more.  But keeps it a fair playing field for everyone by not having the items unbalance the game.

yup, grouping is more trouble then its worth at the moment, as far as assignments go.
