while on auto route, my bot traveled through a wall aproximately in the location of 332,1739 on hershfield.

One way I can think to solve the ability to not log in for months would be a change to the sap system a bit.   I saw it in another thread where the control of a station should degrade if you dont maintain your own saps.

a bonus to go with that could be if a corp has 100% control of a sap for more than 6 days on the 7th day and each following 7th day an "invasion" of high end equipped bots matching the territory (ie green bots on green beta's) with extremely rare drops.

another angle could be if you control the terminal you can also control the ports in that district with exception of the one to get back to alpha. and you could close off a gamma island by controlling all terminal districts leading to it or make it accessable to only your allies or the inhabitant's enemies.

Beta's draw used to be you could mine and farm the same amount much faster, but as I found out (guessing it was during initia's sap) theres more trigger happy players out there than when I last played.  - oh well purchase new bots move on-

If im reading your post right, Hallfrom, you have a good idea to help the new player training curve.

Allow vet players to sell their excess EP on the market which would allow new and intermediate players to buy and catch up in the EP gap.  Also vets would get more of the most valuable commodity NIC, and possibly more of a player base to fill corps and to hunt.    I wonder though, how much do our vets think EP would go for on the market?   would it remain affordable to newbi's?

I havent gone over all the patch notes since I left and returned yet, but EP accumulates at 1 per minute for everyone still.   What would level the playing field a bit better over multiple accounts would be tweaking the EP system.

go with something like
total ep < 50 000 you gain 1 every 10 seconds
50 000 - 100 000 = 1 every 30 seconds
100 000 - 150 000 = 1 every minute
150 000 - 200 000 = 1 every 3 minutes
ect

Eventually the vets will receive very little EP newbi's would receive a ton as they are learning their game still and grow to a marginally competitive level quickly where the vets would still have the edge of experience.        From an RP standpoint, as your get better hardware in your computers it becomes harder to continue upgrading it and finding the gear takes longer.

just my 2 cents.

Hallfrom,
The plasma is just to keep the economy from going stagnant once all the PvE and PvP players spend all their money on amor, weapons, and bots.   In an RP sense, its a form of energy that we are on this planet to collect.

Botologist is a new corp, currently neutral and mainly PvE / Industrial.  We are looking to building our harvester and miner crew, though combat members (pve / pvp) won't be frowned upon.

I have been corp / squad / guild leader in a few games and know what it takes to forge a good clan from the ground up.   I've also been a high level officer in several and an adviser in others as well, I can keep my fingers on the day to day pulse of the corp.

Another way to help would be spread your initial arrows further.  the 3 pointing the same direction looks to be correct.

Sigras, yes that looks like scanner error.  you can get 100% accurate with an argano, t4 scanner, and its between 6 and 10 levels in the appropiate extensions.  I"m thinking light indy bot control or geo scanning, but verify the extension and bot bonuses before spending the valuable points.

+1 to the OP and a +1 to indy bots (or a couple) getting a scavenger bonus. Or maybe base the bonus on the faction extension level.

At a gamma outpost I would link the limitations to the standing with the owning corp.
Green - Full market access
Blue - 10 buy orders / 10 sell orders. Maybe market history at that outpost.
White - 10 buy orders / allowed to sell to a buy order but no sell orders
Yellow - Allowed to buy but no orders placed

And yellow is assuming that yellows are allowed into the terminal.

something else that would be nice would dynamic missions.  Not nessecairily "chain quests" as they are usually annoying in other mmo's, but something where the objective changes slightly each time its accepted / completed.

+1 to the Origional post.   I like the  idea of a PvE strong PvP poor bot, very shiney nevry expensive.  I would suggest one for each faction

I do not think theres strong enough of a PvE player base, yet, to warrent another island but bots like them could be used in an instance (group / Solo), that would create the mission (make it a randomly generated kill "target's name"), the risk, and the reward all in one shot while leaving the world the size it is. Once the PvE player base is brought up enough to warrent more islands I believe the DEV's have already said they will add them.

To tie it all together, I would say the new PvE bot should require gamma ores, and not able to accept any mod lower than say TL3 (bringing more beta ore into the mix I believe)  To help control the cost of the bot (keeping it high) I would say it should only be able to be "prototyped" and the only kernels to give the knowledge required for it would be top tier mech or heavy mech bots of the same color

Hey.

Im for highway speeds depending on a bot's normal speed. Also A spark transfer system would be nice, but I would limit it to stations / outposts / colonies that that specific player already has a bot in, and charge NIC for the transfer too.

and when the CEO isnt on?

Is there a way that a user corperation CEO can issue assignments?  of course relations would be replaced by other rewards, like NIC, a module, or whaterver. I'd also have an option for internal only and external assignments (though I'd suspect that internal would be used 99% of the time, more options is better though)

heres what Im thinking in more detail

harvest / mine (X) ammount of (Y) raw material
refine (X) ammount of (Y) commodity
kill (X) members of (Y) corp
collect (X) (color) plasma

harder to program things might be
collect (X) (damage level) (specific module)
collect (X) (level) (mech type) (color) kernels
collect (X) (color) (level) fragments

Hey everyone points to the dev's for advertising, but the best advertising comes straight from the end users, for any kind of product.  Word of mouth sells more products than any other kind of advert out there.  If you play any other MMO's tell your friends and corp / guild mates (especially the ones who you think would enjoy perp) about perp and get them to try it for atleast the trial period.

and perp is not f2p (as said above) its "free to try", which is why I gave it a shot.

Though I wonder why steam is advertised on the site while they arent returning the favor.

Do you have a router in home your network system?  Most routers also have a firewall in them.  Also I had the same issue downloading a second copy of perp so there might be something in the registry thats preventing it from downloading (find a self-admitted computer nerd to make sure.  I know winXP is notorious for not removing registry items when a program was uninstalled).

+1 deffinately would make strategy more involved in PvP

Contrary to your beliefs, I do support looking for new and more content, in both PvE and PvP. (im for multi-tile transporters at current, and once the playerbase builds back up Im for multi-tile combat bots and have a few ideas that would balance them quickly)

I just dont think jump jets, jet packs, rockets, or anything simular will be useful with limitations with the current Terraforming patch thats about to be released wednesday (according to the last email I saw) and with out limitations they will be over powered, as any obstruction will mean nothing to either side of a battle.

You asked for opinions and I gave mine.
Because you dont like my opinion, youre going to say i dont want or look for new content?
Oh and discussions have statements, questions and opinions from all sides.

Herpus Derpus,
Since youre saying we are overly focused on PvP usability of the jump jet (though in the OP you fingured out light and assault class combat bots), what other uses do you have in mind?

mining / harvest bots are designed arround effenciency and strapping a rocket to them would lower their speed, same for transporters.

Currently Im seeing a benifit for only combat, Defence and attack, but if I had a citadel, I wouldnt depend on flying bots to defend it, rather build a wall to funnel them into 1 section.

Im all for unpredictability, but did you read my entire post?  Im saying with limits they will be useless and with out they will be over powered.

Wars, battles, and 1v1 fights are all tactics vs tactics. Its the agressors responsability to look at and analyze the defender's defences to figure out how to use them the best he can, while its the defender's responsability to minimize the chance the agressor can use the defence terain to the agressor's advantage. Having jumping or "flying" bots will only give more unpredictability to a battle, not really do anything about mountains creating a wall.

With limits on a jump pack, the mountains will only become taller, but with out limits the packs will become OP and over used very quickly.

*EDIT: victorious warriors win first (through preperation) then go to battle, while defeated warriors go to battle first then seek to win.

What a better way to try my hand at PVP in perp.  I'll be there.

Now that I completely understand what you guys are talking about, I dont think that Perp needs it yet. I havent noticed any NIC (Gold farmers) and a plex system is only designed to squash any and (potentially) all gold farmers.

And even in WoW (when I played it) I saw no sense in paying RL money for gold, and it wasnt because I was worried about being hacked, I just didnt take the game seriously enough to invest real money into fake money.

Also what is the next step after starting a plex system? (Id say F2P)  Where would you have the Dev's draw the line? (they are flood gates that cant be closed)  Why? (if the Dev's give in on this there will be others that will cry for the game to be completely F2P)

Oh and glimpse, leave MY FINANCES out of OUR GAME

using nic to buy / sell time codes makes even less sence to me than a cash shop.  hmm   maybe im just too tight with my RL money and nic.
