Anyways, I think that the best way the devs could combat the holiday slowdown would be a combination of raising the price from 9.99 to 14.99, and then giving us all 33% off coupons that we can give to our friends that when enough are redeemed, give us cosmetic rewards like dyes for our bots or maybe even like a days worth of EP (Which even though it is entirely negligible in the long run, I know for a fact people would be working their *** off getting people to redeem their codes). That way they don't lose any profit but gain a lot of new subscribers.

Article 1, section 2, paragraph 3 to be precise, but there is a loophole as far as macros are concerned so he should be fine so long as he is properly represented in court with one of Ecorp's many talented lawyers wink

http://perpetuum-online.blogspot.com/

In this newest blog, we see a dev cruelly ban some innocent little gold farmers who wanted nothing other than to feed their families of 10 children (Most likely, the money whoever sent them went to feeding little Cao Cao and Lu Bu, but the rest of the children will starve sad. But thank you for saving those two children, you sir are a true man).

Lets stop to think a moment though, on how important gold farmers are to MMOs, especially small operations like this. That's what, 12 toons? At 3 toons per account, that is 4 accounts they actually bought. At 9.99 each, that's pretty much 40$ put into the pockets of the devs.

But not only did they put that 40$ in the devs pocket, there is a sort of rippling effect. Lets say a player, we'll call him Axe, is pretty new at the same and discouraged. He lost his light bot because he didn't know the beta islands were a scary place for newbies and some evil M2S guys ganked him, and then trolled him about it later for good measure. Naturally he is crying and about to rage quit.

But wait! An angel appears, delivering a miraculous deal. While Axe might not be rich in Perpetuum, he is actually a successful stock broker in real life and has loads of real life money to dump into the game (Naturally, he doesn't know that he could just hire an army of servants or make some elaborate multiboxing rig, but he is a newbie so we will forgive him). So with the simple words, "U buy gold 4 cash?", our newbie friend has a second wind! All of a sudden he has been gifted with the NIC to buy 100 assault bots, that M2S gank means nothing now! He is unstoppable! He promptly buys a years subscription because now he -knows- he can succeed at the game. Those are like what, 100$ or so? So now, thanks to this little gold farmer, the devs now have 140$ in their pockets.

But there is more! Now, the gold farmer is caught and banned! But it isn't the end of the story, no, NOTHING can beat the unfatiguable spirit of the gold farmer's devotion to feeding his family of 20. He drops ANOTHER 40$ on the game to get some more accounts! So we have like what, 200$ to the devs all from the actions of one player? Can any of you guys top that? I doubt it.

So lets hear it for the valiant gold farmers who do their best to support the games we love smile

And my sequer can't fit 5 lasers like the other assaults, what the hell is up with that?

The most interesting thing the interview reveals is probably about how large a French community Perpetuum has (Though this is kinda obvious if you do a lot of PVP or even if you have a sizable corp, as -CS- even has a couple of French players). I wonder why this is (Especially since the official French translation isn't even out yet). Is there some sort of surge of gamers in France?

I've been noticing a lot of French games coming into the English scene too (Like Die2Nite).

You aren't supposed to ask for things in your thanks posts. Now it just looks like a trick to get the devs to read. Should have at least put it in feature requests tongue

I shall volunteer to be the new moderator. smile

Here are the new forum rules:

1. Have fun!

Jump jets are cool, but I dunno how hard they would be to implement, and with the kind of mechs Perpetuum has, it'd be kind of weird looking. Maybe something more like in Armored Trooper Votoms where the mechs all have skates for when they need a speed boost? Might be kind of tactical if they could only be used downhill or on a relatively flat surface too.

1. Someone needs to give us a TV Tropes entry for one. I find like 90% of the games I play through screwing around on that site.

2. More drama. Contrary to what some people think, drama attracts people to communities. M2S using all forms of media, from videos to music, to highlight the drama that goes on in the game in an easy to understand way is a good example of the sort of thing we need corporations doing more of. Unfortunately there are a lot of carebears who do not understand this principle, and even worse, people who want to sabotage the game by trying to get rid of the drama aspect to it, using tools like draconian forum moderation.

3. Some fan made trailers would be great. Official trailers aren't the only things that bring about new subscriptions, lots of people look at what the fans of the game are doing.

4. Community forum blitzes. I don't know about you, but I try to post about Perpetuum on all the forums I go on. It never hurts to mention it in your own little corner of teh internets and how awesome it is.

Feel free to post your own ideas. The devs were pretty happy to get 150,000 subscription months out of people. As a community though, we should be aiming for a less arbitrary number, like maybe 1,000,000 (Or perhaps a goal like 1,000 people active in general chat at any given time)! The more money the devs have, the faster we get are cool new stuff, and the more members there are, the faster we'll start seeing things like new islands to explore. Its also important for the community to support the devs in this way anyways just because its you know, the right thing to do if you enjoy the game.

Since Arkhe's no longer count as kills, I want to be able to buy my kills in the cash shop. Screw this having to go out and earn them bullshit.

"If you think about the previous feature as an actual weapon, go no further; we will create an item that allows you to play kamikaze, with bigger fireworks. But it will require some reactor and CPU, so no Intakt rush with explosives."

Looks like the devs took Jelan's awesome idea after all!

You want it all your own way, I'd have preferred the target to have to fit a self destruct device or something to be able to destroy cargo

I agree the new system isn't great but it's a start

That's actually a pretty cool solution Jelan big_smile. Lots of cool things could be done with self-destruct devices.

Damn you life big_smile

You are in for another lecture on this on Ventrilo tongue

This isn't a PvE supported game. That's an illusion. PvE stops in what might be the equivalent of level 10 in another MMO. All the higher level mobs are going to be on the beta islands. If you are on a beta island, it doesn't matter what you are doing, you are PvPing in some way, shape or form.

There never ceases to be something to crack me up here big_smile.

Lots of tryhards like to pretend like the lack of moderation is the most terrible thing in the world here, but the point where it crosses the line is pretty rare and there is always something fun to watch.

So yeah, awesome forums are awesome. Hand holding, not so much smile

I'm not flaming you, I was just posting in response to something I read and posting my own personal experience. That's what people do on forums. Most people coming for recruitment just read the first post anyways, so this is like, the most free bumps you could possibly expect. You should be thrilled I'm here big_smile. Where I've been wrong, I've admitted I'm wrong.

You can call me a *** all you want. I don't really care about the whole name calling thing. One of my goals here was to figure out how you guys defined "honor" because I found it to be an interesting descriptor. People will naturally define it differently like they will any other term that is open to a range of description (For instance, "honor killings" being something we in the west wouldn't find very honorable at all and actually rather abhorrent, your own views of honor as being related to those organizations which specialize in applications of violence which many different kinds of pacifists would disagree with, ect.), it isn't about being "told" what it is or not so much as wanting to know what your individual interpretation for it is. That it is a buzz word to attract a certain kind of player is interesting to note and tells me a lot about your corporation (And right here, I'm not implying anything bad, so don't get me wrong, because right now you are in a very defensive mode, and that's understandable). I'm sorry if I've offended you, but my goal is not to sabotage your corporation, nor do I think anyone could post anything in a recruitment thread that would accomplish such a goal anyways. Like anyone else coming into this thread, I'm mostly trying to figure out more about Roving Guns.

No, I'm not malicious or telling lies. I'm sadly mistaken apparently, as it was smokeyindustries who had problems with me and handled them in that way. Though I believe he was the CEO of your corporation at that time, I may be wrong in this, and if so, you have my fullest apologies for being confused over your leadership.

Its funny how you can't even follow through with your own mantra in the same paragraph though. "Simply put we don't not stoop to your level...". That's some nice malicious lies and slander there smile. Your statement on "honor" seems to be just a manifestation of a superiority complex, though I am glad that you at least defined it.

As for spies, there is nothing "dishonorable" in making sure you have good intel coming in. This has been one of the bedrocks of M2S' play for a long while now and you know what, -no one- has complained, because these boards are filled with Eve veterans who realize that not having spies is just silly and that it is a staple of games like these. Seems like more a measure of laziness to me.

You guys can have this burrowing crap, I'll take a Yamato cannon for my own mech please, thanks devs.
