I just can not understand the reasons nerf. Yes, it was a powerful weapon. But why the other did not use it? Why just nerf?

If nerf was the one change for last 3-4 months, maybe I took it easier. But in game the global rebalancing too often.
Why?

As an alternative, may make these plants hidden (like potatoes). Detection using geo-scanners and / or with weak landmarks. Without the possibility of destruction with weapons.

Do you need only my opinion or evidence of that the increasing the heavy mechs and assaults have been excessive?

I think that this increasing assault was for beginners. Probably the task was "simplify the game for beginners?". And there was a choice: to increase the basic lock range or add slot assault robot. (devs choosed both variants)

Increasing of heavy mechs probably intended not for the players. It was for the mobs. Because heavy mobs was too easy targets.
