Hang on, what's all this talk of plasma drops being nerfed for new players?
I consider myself a new player, barely 2 months old and I've found my income has DOUBLED since the patch...

Taken from http://www.perpetuum-online.com/Changelog:2011-08-25

Change: Rebalanced NPC plasma drops: the set amount of plasma in loot now follows more closely the time it takes to kill a specific NPC.

Means some fast to kill high tier NPC drob less Plasma then before (EW-lights and EW-Mech NPC are effected most espezialy if they drob/use LWF).

But in the same patch random-spawns are included which are fun and lucrativ smile.

As a carebear, I would like the greater risk of beta to have a greater reward. My only reward for beta is epi, and thats only if we have 5 guys watching gates. The reward at this time does not out wiegh the risk.

I understand and except this point.

But what will change with all the sugested idears for you as carebear? And how do they effect the defending army? Do you need less people to protect you then? Can you stop guarding the teleporters?

Higher rewards -> more people want it
more people -> you need a bigger protection Army
more overall Beta population -> ganging squads smell more easy targets
more easy targets -> more ganing squads
more ganing squads -> you need a even bigger defending army

Risk is allways to die ... it's just the question: how often do you die?

With more ganing squads you will reach the point, where rewards are to low AGAIN very soon.

Again: how will this sugested changes do any good for carebears on Beta?
Don't they just bring more easy targets to ganging squads?

PS: here are my sugestions:
- first get right of this damn Corp-Only-Market to revive the free Market
- wait for the Terminal/Sov Changes which are enounced (they sound realy cool espezialy the Defend-Towers).
- do some advertisement to get a bigger overall population (this will bring new Alpha player and drive old one to Beta when Alpha is overcrowded)

The two last sugestions will bring more people into your corps and provide more safty near your outpost ... and somethink worth to fight (die) for.

First off yes, inviting people (like me) to join is the way to get more people to Beta (and maybe PvP).

As I said, I would like to test your Corp ... but you should understand, that my Corp and it's Allys wouldn't be happy about it wink.

RedKGB wrote:

If you dont want to PvP then dont. No one is forceing you to.

And that's the hole point.

All I see is "we need beta only stuff to force people into Beta" or "we need a way PvE-Player are forced to pass PvP land".

Aren't my real Euros as good as yours?
Why should I get just half the stuff you get for the same price?
Is there a 50% offer which I missed for people who don't like to PvP but still want to play the game as Producers without limits?

I except, that you CAN make much more money on Beta ... and I am fine with it.

I can not except, that there some of you try hardcore to make stuff Beta ONLY!

Like Epriton atm.
Yes, I was angry about the T1 change ... but I have to gratulate the DEVs. With the Rare-Ores and the CHANGS to get Epri as Highsec miner, they did a good work.

It is very limited, but you CAN survive in a very small scale without Beta! I take this handycap by my own decision!

Again, I pay the same Euro as you do.
If I pass some content by my free will ... FINE.
But it is a absolut and 100% NO GO to cap parts of the game (like this very stupid "T4 beta only production"). Alpha only players are allready handycaped by T2-Industrie!

PS: and you can be sure, when I am forced to go to Beta (as I can't build T4 on alpha any more for excample) ... I stop playing this game.
And I will not be the only one.

But I can tell you: I never saw someone who claim "I want PvP" searching for equal fights. They ALLWAYS avoided equal/stronger forces but seek solos, defensless, lower level/equip targets! (well, I saw one group of 10. But they never spammed the forums or any chat).

While it might be interesting ... my corp (and their allys) wouldn't be happy about this.

Anyway some facts you ALL miss:
- level 3 industry is BETA ONLY
- Epriton in counteble amounts is BETA ONLY (yes, rare gettings on Alpha)
- till last patch Tier4+ spawn had been BETA ONLY (new random spawns are cool)
- since last patch highest sell price of plasma ON BETA
- best missions (if anyone do them) BETA ONLY
- Alpha has a MUCH lower regrowth rate of Ore/Plants then Beta
- NPC in perpetuum are in no way compareble to the junk from other games. In Eve I died once against while doing Incursions with an Intercepter (sirvived several hours *g*) first NPC death I ever had as 2007 char!! Here I lose a bot once a week against NPCs. (Tryed level 3 Scan Missions? Do it for the fun.)
- Allways funny to get cought by a Grand/Super Observer as miner on Alpha
- Travling spawns are fun too for miners

Alpha is allready slowed down, can't beat Beta producers, earns less, has risk.

Try it, be more friendly, invite neutrals to your islands, protect them ... (yes, Providence MK2). You can say what you want, Providence was a success for 00. It brought MANY new people to 00. CVA might not be your friend, but they did a damn good job for ALL 00 corps/ally! And if it was just to provide you with some target for your roamings.

But for this absolut NOTHINK has to be changed to the game-mechanik!
It's the sandbox you all love so much (player driven content you know??).

Maybe closing half the Beta Islands until more players are active will help your "I'm so alone" syndrom. This way the 6 people activly roaming will see each other (if they don't avoid each other like usual).

Random roming TS:
Spy: enemy gang roaming Alsbale
Gangleader: then let's go Nova

Gangleader: na, I could lose my bot, let's farm their miners

There is no need to add risk at all for someone who DO NOT LIKE IT.

All your aiming to FORCE them into PvP is to get easy targets for your e-peen-boards.

It's getting old. Every second week a new "nerf alpha buff beta" thread pops up.
And a point ALL of them miss is: 50% of the Alpha carebares are Alt Chars from Beta players!

I remember a poster, who addmited, that he has ONE 00 Char which was carried by 13 (!!) highsec chars in EvE.

So best way to get more Chars to Beta: move your damn alt from Alpha to Beta!

I live on Hersh. Most Agents I see there are CIR, NeX, FOOM and all the other "we are Beta" Corps. Get off of my Alpha and move your ... to your damn Beta!
This will fix YOUR Beta problem (which is no problem at all).

RedKGB wrote:

There should be an imbalance from alpha to beta, if beta had nothing more to offer then alpha would be over populated.

And this is your biggest mistake.

Beta allready has advantages over Alpha! And they are big enough to make people want them.

What holds new players (or guys like me) off off Beta is:
I either want to PvE OR PvP ... I don't want to be shot in the back while fighting with Tier 4+++ NPC.

So (and this is only for me) what would be needed to bring me (personal only!) to Beta is more safty ... NOT more reward!

And this safty could be provided by Players. No change by any DEV had to be made!

I said it many times and I say it again: Player bringt Player to Beta (PvP) - NOT BUFFS OR NERFS!

Right now the reward for beta is what epi? The risk is death.
Add more reward, risk is still death.
Add even greater reward, risk is still death.

Risk right now is diing every hour by random gang.
Higher rewards bring more people.
Risk then is diing every 30 minutes by random gang.
Higher rewards bring more people.
Risk then is diing every 15 minutes by random gang.

After some time you will die every time you try to shot an NPC.
And then? Add rewards for any hit you can land on an NPC? With 10 hits you earned enough money to buy a new Mesmer MK2 with equip?

Sure, you allways die ... the higher risk is to die more frequently.

Elementar and simple understanding of the mechanic.

Sorry but this is plain wrong.

More reward means more risk as more people try to earn the better reward.

And then? Add even MORE reward so even MORE people want it and you get MORE risk?

End with ONLY reward on Beta with EVERYONE want this reward and you have JUST risk?

In german it's called "Teufelskreis". Once you add this more reward the risk will rice too. Adding again more reward to compansate the new gained risk will just rise the risk even more.

This didn't work in EvE and it will not work here!

Neverfeldt wrote:

So you mean just group up with everyone and together we will rofl stomp them observers and finally win the game?

No.

One ally peer Beta (ideal point). And with 6 Betas you get 6 partys to fight each other.

Big powerblocks like EvE-east, former NC, Goons+Please Ignore are terrible bad. Small allys are nice as you will allways have someone to fight.

It's not the NPC stuff (mining, producing, NIC, golden eggs) which bring people to Betas.
People bring people to beta!

Once you learned this, you will have more enemys and more friends.
If you don't learn this, you will be alone for much longe time.

Gogo, bring more stupid idears.

PS: Some tip how to get more people to Beta
- do NOT gang every solo NPC-Corp guy but ask him if he like to join you
- do NOT flame every one who don't like PvP but ask him, if he provides you with mats/equip/bots if you TRY to protect him
- if you notice a new corp with few members try to ally them and provide them with prototypes if they join Beta

best advice: BE MORE FRIENDLY

You are right, there aren't to many posible fit for an Arbalest ... but 3 slots are 3 slots.
The 3 low slots from a Rifter are pritty much static too. Not many alternations with it.

And even with Geddons or Apocs where you have 7/8 low slots there aren't many choices (and many times you have fix fittings from your corp/ally you MUST use).

For the variation of bots ... the game is still fresh. If you do the comparision ... do it with EvE 2003 when it was fresh too.
Refaring to this: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Eve_Expansions Tech 2 ships had been introduced with the first BIG content update called "CASTOR" 6 month after release (and there are still missing some T2 like Tier 2 Battlecruser (Drake, Harbinger, etc)).

Assuming you start with Nimqol 3 PerpetuumPlanner says you need ~32 days for Nimqol 8 (which is needed for the normal Messmer), then from 8 to 10 (MK2) it takes another 63 days.
This does not include Basic and Advanced Robotics.

As I have more rounded base stats (20/20/11/9/11/10) let it be 28 days and 58 days. Both times it's much more then "2 weeks" and then you spend no singel point in CPU/Reaktor/Energy/Weapon extensions.

This includes, you do not have basic EM weapons at 5 which you need to learn advanced EM -> you can't even fit medium EMs tongue.

To do easy 3. tier mechs ... well, have fun just with small EMs, 145m optimal and no energy wink.

True, you can SIT in one after 2 weeks ... but that's all.

And you are far FAR away from doing tier 3 or 4 NPC spawns alone (not to speak from 5 or super oberserver).

And for the low player activity ... no fun to play PC games in my catacomb with 30° and more outside tongue.

It's not the dangures NPC spawn which hold new player off ... some people still don't get it *sig*.

EVEN if you place some 1. Havocs on the betas most Rookies wouldn't go there as they don't want to lose their bots every hour against the roming gangs 10v1.

Yes, I do the romings now too ... but not becouse I want to, I have no chose sad. I still hate the ***!
And I saw several spawns, which I maybe can solo. There is just no reason to try them as I know roming gangbang XY will 100% sure visit this spot in the next 60 minutes and all the nice loot+kernals I farmed up to this time will be lost PLUS I will lose my bot+equipment!

Or would YOU wait for the solo farmer until he has no NPC aggro anymore and fight him 1v1?

The money is cool on betas ... the PvP is what holds most people off.
Will there be a day, when all you PvP junkys get this into your brain?

It's been suggested by Arga that things change as currently planned, but with the addition of adding espitium to a NON MANUFACTURABLE item, such as fragments.

Fragments already drop in sufficient quantities that no prototyper should ever want for them, and adding espitium to them would increase their value to combat characters who can sell them on the market to the rare prototyper who doesn't have a corp or combat alt.

Well, add different Epriton Based Materials to the 3 different collored perfect fragments and I'm fine.

At the moment perfect fragments contain 8 units of material in total (4+4). Replacing 1 of the non-Epri-based materials with a Epri-Based material could work. But as this is a to small amount to somehow make it work with an extension, that adds 1% quality/level, high quality refining would need a rework. But atm I can't imagin any posible change hmm.

Base recycling of 1 high quality material peer fragment maybe? High quality refining now adds 1% to all refinings and at level 5 it doubles the emount of high quality Material you get from Fragments?
So max you would get is 2 Espit/Briochit/Aligor peer perfect fragment if you have high quality recycling 5. .... not realy much but still a way to get this materials if you want to do it.

Or instead of complex materials you put Epriton in the fragments (4 common material + 10000 Epriton) starting with a base recycle of 100 Epriton rising the amount to 1100 with high quality recycling 10. Then you don't even need to change the extension and 1100 Epri is a REALY low amount!
Since I play I collected around 6k prefect fragments (all collors together) ... that's 60000 Epri ... nothink a Beta miner has to worry about! It's my farming work of 3 weeks! Around 20k Epri/week ... realy REALY low amount compared to what is needed.

Norrdec wrote:

Wait for the new change with no epriton + the new ct changes and then whine with proof that it kills the market.

as soon as a new producer want more then T1 he MUST buy it from Beta or has to risk his little Argano to mine it.

Buying ore from the market is very easy to do, any new producer can do this.
Making some T1 items cheaper does help new people as they do not have much Nic

Sure, producing one T1 item will be cheaper.
But from which T1 items do we talk? Shield, Sensor Amp, Amunition (which allready don't need Epri) and ..? The T1 items which are sold in high(er) amounts are Weapons, Armor reps, Weapon Upgrades, Miner/Harvester (upgrades) ...
So this new producer has to get his hand on a lot of Kernals before he can start to produce this Shield, Sensor Amps and 3-4 other items which are worth to be produced. Means he need either to Farm NPC which hinders him to skill production (producers are bad killers you know?) or to spend ALOT of money on the market.
The money they need to buy Epri from the market is marginal compared to the NIC they have to pay for the Kernals.

And as every producer who knows what he/she do give the price he pays for materials 1:5 to his custumers ... it doesn't matter if the producer has to pay 100 NIC or 100.000 NIC as his products then will simply cost 500 NIC or 500.000 NIC.

Changing the recipe does not change, that there are very few items, which can be produced at all and don't drob massive from NPC.

And it does not change, that a new Producer has to compete with the old Producers with much better extensions/reputations for this very few items.

But it will change, that new producers (and all vet Alpha only producers) will have a harder time to produce T2+ stuff as one of two resources for Espit/Aligo will be removed.

Intended by the DEVs?
