Moving the data to csv/xml makes updates to the data/stats much easier. You do not have to recompile and release for every change. It also means a lot more people can contribute to the project.

I tried this. I suggest you do not install it - it is adware of he worst kind. It intercepts everything from your browser and replaces it with ads. Good luck in trying to read anything else. Like a virus it installs drivers and hidden startup services. It intercepts all traffic from your network card and reports/passes it through some unknown server (yes, I know how VPN works and this is not it) therefore nothing is private. Uninstalling does not help much - you have to clean it manually out of the registry and wipe it off your disk.

If you want to head for PvP directly out of the terminals, then look at spending those EP on nav 10.

If you want to experience PvE or industry before heading to the Beta islands for PvP, hold back a little, and spend some of those EP on other things:
- you might want to add skills so your guns can actually hit something (precision firing etc);
- you might want to have a chance to actually get lock something (accelerated target locking);
- you might want to be able to rep in a fight (energy management etc);
- you might want to be able to mine, refine, build something.

You can always get Nav 10 after a few days, but you won't be useless for the first few days, and be stuck farming Arkhes.

Playing PO on 2 x 42" monitors, 3rd monitor for the forum. big_smile

Be careful that the balancing you are asking for does not end up being a courier mission nerf. What those missions does give is some NIC to start getting into decent bots with decent equipment. Take it away and you have EP poor and NIC poor starters, not a fun way to start a game.

This is about the 3rd ex-eve thread. On one side it is good to see old pals meeting up, to see some names recognized. On the other hand this game is not Eve, I don't know whether the achievements people had in Eve will have any worth here.

I date from Eve Beta and spent 6 of 7 years in 0.0, been involved in almost every major war. But when I decided to come to PO, I decided not to use the same character names - I want to start fresh. I don't want this game to be another Eve, I want to help make it better than that. I do not play Eve anymore, technically I still have some subs running out. I am done with it.  Seriously, I will go play WoW before going back to CCP.

Some server problem I suspect.

So, how about a companion bot called "Hilmar", made by CCP Corp.  It has no purpose other than to occassionally accept NIC from you.  Every once in awhile, it asks for a big jump in NIC and then makes for the nearest cliff and jumps off, wrecking itself while chatting about this is what you really want.

I will pay in Aurum just to see it.

What I do is be patient - I start the client up, then click the OK button every minute or 2. And I have been able to login within 15 minutes every time. Yesterday was annoying because I had a bunch of network problems and kept losing connection.

I also want to suggest as someone else did above, that some of us might be able to help fixing the problem. Post a snippet of the offending method, and maybe someone have some suggestions. I have some experience working on realtime systems serving a few million users. (I won't throw names around in an open forum.)

You are now in Perpetuum.

Thank You CIR.

I agree they should reduce each person's game time by 1 day, so we can compensate them for working overtime to keep us playing.

What I see is a little bit of animosity towards the new players - the downside is flooding the server, the upside is more subs to keep this game going and growing. If they give 1 day to each account, they will be giving away at least 500 days for which they will not earn money. I would rather have a well paid dev fixing my game.

1) Do not spend all your EP at once. Keep some in the bank.
2) Do not re-spec if you are struggling. Ask for advice first. You may be fighting the wrong rats.
3) Use the map to plot a route to your mission. Keep the radar open as well.
4) Double click a npc in the "overview" to lock it and set as primary. Double click a can to move into range of it (G key grabs all).
5) Put some EP into "basic parallel assignments" - pick up 2 or 3 missions to the same area all at once.
6) Do some courier missions for ammo. Or farm some racial npc for it.
7) Farming plasma makes good NIC when you are starting out.
8) Your cans live for 10 minutes. They are lootable by others after 5.
9) As in Eve look at the "overview" to see when you are primaried (red boxed). Kite & rep when necessary.
10) As in Eve you can spec into multiple races and weapon types. Re-spec'ing into another race is not necessary.

I am against Pay2Win, which is where Eve is heading. I have played many games with vanity MT, which I have no issues with. And is not only MT that drove me (us) away from Eve - it was primarily CCP's belligerent attitude regarding MT and other issues.

In this game is see the evidence of Devs working to resolve issues. They do not use my sub to spend time on developing other games and nonsense unwanted functionality. In eve I can show you issues of 8 years that the devs were ignoring. Most of our Eve subs for the past 2 years went into developing Dust and WoD. In itself it is not an issue, and we do not prescribe what CCP does with it's money - the issue with that is they neglected Eve and it's player base.

MT is what makes a game sustainable through extra income for the developer. We all want the game to grow and last a good few years after all.
