A character is a name on a screen, nothing more.  Property of your company, not the holder of the credit card paying for the use of that character.  It is the situation concerning characters that brings the attention of others, as an extension of the actions of the player behind them, but in the end it is only the fate of the character that concerns the gallery.  The player is just a control device that really does not have any place in the courtroom.

This is a very good point; assuming that the 'character' in question only exits in the Perpetuum setting.  What's in a name she asked? In the case of the internet it's hand, foot and every other part that makes up the man.  So, if power and annonymity are the ultimate courruptor then holding the pixel man to the highest account is a major concern.

Prior comments retracted.  I was given a very simple and logical answer to my main concern.  See Dev Calvins blunt honesty for referance.

thanks for being honest.  Lack of information has been my primary concern; hence the 'ghost in the machine' comment.

Without practical examples I'd expect these are hard allergations to counter and practical examples are impossible as they require a privacy violation; I would imagine this catch 22 makes your situation very very difficult.

I suppose all we can do then is applaud your integrity in keeping peoples private issues private whislt attempting to balance grieviences.

There's a bigger picture here.  Most people couldn't care a tinkers cuss for the in game achievemnets of another player group; more power to you for doing it.  To be utterly clear; good job on you work in the game, it is honestly impressive.

The concern is the 'ghost in the machine' element that lose ends allow for; if a precedent is set for making exception then the exception becomes the norm.  This is the bigger picture with which people are concerned.

You're probably right about misinformation.  That's why I asked "what's going on?".

Avatar Creations you are breaking your game in my eyes for a few reasons.
1.  You are trying to dictate how the players should play in a "sandbox" mmo.  In a sandbox the players decide how they would like to play the game, and gameplay decisions should not be made by DEVs or GMs.

2. You allow cheating to occur in your game and don't appear to care about it, and then showing favoritism to the cheaters.  Everyone should be treated the same, regardless of which corp has the most devs in it.
(flame away)

3. You don't seem to care about getting new players into the game. Throw up some adds work with Internet gaming sites. Ten ton, massively, etc... Bring in more players and everyone wins.

For these reasons I feel I can not support AC with my money any longer. I will not renew my accounts.

To my enemies, good fights.
To my friends, you will be missed.
To the DEVs, think before you act.

-Deon.

This is a very common feeling right now, the Dev team has lost the confidence of a lot of long term players.

QFE

Once my subs run out I don't see a reason to renew them; people cheat, continue to cheat and are not dealt with as other cheats have been in the past.  Now folks are getting bans for being angry about this... what's going on?

Can we get a statement on exactly what kind of punishment will be handed out for the variety of 'crimes' available under the EULA.

What I'm asking for here is a direct, simple outline of what is and isn't allowed and exactly what degree of punishment can be expected for breaking game rules.  All things considered I believe this to be a fair question.

If the response is an email sent to all account holders individually fine; I just want to know what to expect in the future.

EDIT: This is not a jibe aimed at anyone so please don't fill this thread with assumed airs of superiority or rightious indignation.  I want to know.

Really?  The only response you have is a lame personal attack? How old are you?

The issue I was speaking of was advertised, systemic cheating; do you support this?  I have no grudge against any groups or idividuals playing this game, unless they cheat.  The simple solution is to play another game; one that deals efficiently and comprehensivly with cheats.

Multiple accounts that an individual has to micromanage is very different to another brain behind another keyboard.

As to the 'encourage other means', it is not relevant.  Doing something that is manifestly wrong does not bear subjective justifications when the wrongness is an absolute; in this case cheating.

86

(24 replies, posted in General discussion)

Cheating is cheating; you let one thing slide and it becomes normal.  If cheating remains ok then the game is over; mainly because there is no longer a winner or a loser, just a person who doesn't get caught and a person that does.  That is how people begin to see the game and it stops being fun.

87

(24 replies, posted in General discussion)

It's very 'not ok'.  Something like: 'Oh no... I'm getting my arse handed to me.  Hey EVE buddies, log in here as this account for an hour and give my a nice number of heavily plated suicide bomber mechs/distraction lights/diverisions targets to soften up an objective'.

That's why it's cheating; you could even call it pay-to-win... which speaks volumes.  The next question would be can I buy a Vanguard Mesmer and some more EP?  If the gates are open then what the hell, why not?

On a more serious note:

1. Can we make SAP hacking modules either cheaper or manufacturable?  SAP hacking is supposed to be common and as such bot losses.  Not everyone is in a commune and/or can affort the steady loss of SAP mods expected to accompany SAP ops.

2. Will the stability percentage changes remain as they are?

If and when CIR says goodbye to Perpetuum, rest assured we will put it together in a one-word-one-picture-per-page format so you should hopefully have no trouble understanding.

As for Mortal Online, yup we burned that game to the ground. They signed their own death-sentence the day the Developer CEO came into the game and told me he'd rollback the server because we built a keep in the spot his own guild wanted to build in, we merely carried the sentence out according to our policy.

In fact we still have a section of our members making sure the punishment fits the crime.

Where would the world be without its armchair experts?

How many of our self styled internet oracles, our sooth sayers of woe as it were, have seriously been involved in selling a story?  That is what is being sold here you know; you're crying out for the next chapter so you will know what happens to you.

'Content' doesn't mean a new mission or another robot or even a better way to digitally humiliate eachother, the content you want is an idea that allows your existence in a world bereft of ethics, morals and all the other social hubris that otherwise harasses you to progress; you want your next chapter.

Now, consider for a moment that the underlying concept that supports this idea requires universal appeal and application.  Essentially you are complaining that a story of your own making isn't progressing quickly enough because the universal themes you require are not been supplied to your digital entity; this then begs the question what of all the others?

"If I hadn´t such a great team in my corp, I would have left for laters a long time ago"

Writing a story is hard, writing a story with no characters is really hard... but writing a story where the protagonist is the quintesential Grey Man is a monumental undertaking.  Be patient and enjoy the social aspects; your character in this game is very much up to you.

the tournament is a Corp TEAM tournament... so what "individuals" are you talking about?

Especially TOG is listed as the currently biggest corp, i cannot really understand your post? after some calculating, even my corp could participate in that match (4 player!) with mechs or assaults... if we had time to do so.

Ok, that 'thousand miles in another mans shoes' bit was a round about way of saying there are plenty of people out there who aren't lucky enough to belong to a big powerful well funded corp.  I wasn't talking about me I just use the first person because for some English is a  second language and abstract is easier to confuse then first person present.

Read what I said again and don't apply it to any singular person, rather consider the people who aren't in a great situation.  Oh and I in no way speak for TOG on the forums

Really? Huge losses have you checked KB's lately Corps have lost well more than the 25points in less than an hour and thrown more and more in to the frey... Price and attatchment is devalued when you give in and believe they truely are just pixals.

Ok worst case senario out of the tourney you field a Mk2 heavy first round you lose it, but your team wins. 2nd round same... Third round same ... Now you just won an nice only 1 of possible 10 in the game black special H-mech that more than would make up for the "heavy loss"... Besides every thing in this game is free if you think about it. Missions for ammo, ammo = plasma, plasma = nic, Missions for nic = nic. With nic you can do every thing it just depends on your level of input and dedication to the game. I lost a heavy while farming before fully T4 fitted saved only 4 mods. Before I logged out that night I had farmed back the nic to buy a new one mods included with a mk1 mech.

Corps aren't individuals and not all individuals have the time/build/multiple accounts/skill/etc... to rebuild that quickly.

Consider for a second that I may be using myself as an example for all those people that DO care a whole lot for their hard won/grinded Mech or Heavy Mech(incidently, I've been able to drive one of those for ages and have never been able to afford it) and are loath to risk their Perpetuu fun-bot because the idea of ninja mineing on Beta holds no appeal and they don't have hours to spend grinding plasma out of a spawn.  Now, on one hand the answer to this is 'you're playing a sandbox bucko, deal with it' but on the other hand that's not conducive to customer retention.

What's that they say about one thousand steps in another mans shoes...

Considering that many people can't afford one fully T4 fitted bot, let alone the number required to remain in the tournament, I can see this being another notch in the belt of the VERY FEW large non-Pacific Time Zone player corps.  Particularly the those that have a communal framework.

I know celebration of the one year anniversary is a nice thing but this grand tourny is going to have a very limited field.  Perhaps run something for the mercenary players as well; submit a team of five players for a knock out league?

dont you guys participate in regular pvp battles vs those t4 users? whats different in this tournament?

you can even participate with a blob: 5 Assaults + 1 ewar vs. heavy mechs!

Perhaps, but I almost never use a T4 (or even T2) fitted bot in PvP because I cannot afford to replace anything.  I don't want to be a member of a commune corp, mainly because the one I'm in is really cool.  More to the point; I'm talking about the HUGE losses one could expect to take in a tourny of this sort.   For me that's combined with the fact that I'd be really sleepy.

The more I think about this celebration the more annoyed I get; this utterly shuns Australian players, most of whom will have work/sleep commitments to meet.  Many of the players I know in this game are Aussies and will not be able to take part in these celebrations.  Very angry about this; you have a small game community, take care of all of them.

So the question: Why?
