It's all about time progression advancement. It has advantages and disadvantages. Is it unfair that some people can afford 6 accounts and have already mined up more ore than they will use in a year? sure, but that is life.

They just need to add delta and gamma islands. Make beta like alpha(no pvp). Add bonuses to mining on delta and gamma of 10 and 20% more mined and make the nodes practically endless. Delta should have times that pvp is allowed (like only during intrusion or 4 hours a day at peak population times) and times that it isn't. Gamma should be full pvp all the time. That way people can settle around the kind of game they want and keep everyone happy. Want mechs and don't want pvp? enjoy alpha and beta. Want controlled pvp? enjoy delta. Want full pvp? enjoy gamma.

As long as there is a real chance you can get frozen in place for a minute afterwards.

lag, rubberbanding, auto run stopping, latency, etc. I had fun friday night and wanted to play more, but can't play on a game with this bad of performance. I'm in the USA. Even running a transport mission is intolerable. Running combat missions, grinding kernels or pvping is out of the question.

I think it's just too big of a defensive bonus for being small. You need 20 seismics to do full damage to an assault with medium missiles. Yes I know you can't take seismics that high. Maybe add some module that helps targetting small bots? Right now a ewar with evasion module + nexus evasion module can ignore a mech. It's only doing 10% damage to it? That seems too low. Almost no point to getting into a mech right now, except to fight other mechs.

There are mechs on alpha, but they have a slow repop time and generally aren't worth farming.

Hungarian math, where 3% can mean anything from .001% to 7% +/- many unknown to normal math variables

Answer me this. If light ewar is rock, what is their paper?

Yes, as long as there is some small chance you might blow yourself up using them. I like jump jets better.

I'd like to see you try this next intrusion.  I will have my lols on standby.

already done and it works quite well

Light Ewars need a 10% speed nerf across the board. They should be the fastest thing out there, but they have too big of an advantage right now.

You need to understand that a lot of us that run ewars have Nav 10 AND we use tier 4 frames.  Yeah, it's a lot of speed, but we paid for that speed and it's all we have to be honest.  We don't have damage bonuses, we basically NEED to travel in packs to be able to kill anything larger than a light.

Pretty much everyone has nav 10 and t3/4 frames now days, the fact remains the light ewar has too much of a speed advantage. You still have good crowd control in the form of ECM bonuses. You need to run in packs on beta, soloers are easily killed in any bot or mech.
I'm not saying you shouldn't be the fastest thing out there, but the reality is light ewars run at 90 at worst and everything else is running at 70 at best and can't catch them even when outnumbering them 3 to 1. They can run away at will and the faster light ewars are running at 110+.
Light ewars are what everyone is running most of the time. You don't even get into the fight before it's over in anything else. You certainly can't catch light ewars if your not in one.

The problem is 99% of the game isn't intrusion events. So anytime that isn't intrusion light ewars are the best and even during intrusion you want half your force to be in light ewar. Seems unbalanced to me. There are light bots, light ewars, assaults, mechs, ewar mechs and heavy mechs, but 95%+ of the time you should be in a light ewar for pvp. I know we don't have the EP yet to make mechs effective, but the large disparity between light ewars and light bots or assaults is alarming. I can't even catch a sequer in my loaded waspish.

I put my Waspish away weeks ago for pvp I'm in a Troiar til they make changes. E-wars are better than anything else out there. You can't be caught, you choose your fights, when you do fight your still effective. One guy in an ewar specced for ECM can shut down one or two opponents, regardless of what they are driving.
Mechs are expensive, slow and easily beat by two e-wars if they have sensor supressors and ECMs.
Doing an intrusion event? No problem, just stick a medium plate in an ewar and your hard to kill.
Running slower than 90 kph is death with all these ewar running around.
Assault bots run at 60-70, but they can't do anything to a target running 100 away from them. Tackle bots will get killed before assaults can catch up. There is just too large a speed difference.
Light Ewars need a 10% speed nerf across the board. They should be the fastest thing out there, but they have too big of an advantage right now.
Mechs need to have their sensor strength looked at. Light Ewars shouldn't be able to keep two mechs jammed continuously.
I won't get into all the defensive bonuses for being small. Put an evasion module and a shield on a ewar and it's just as hard to kill as a heavy mech.
The net result is light ewars are the strongest thing on the board right now and for the forseeable future.
One more thing, the troiar is the worst of the bunch, so pelistal users are the worst right now. They are the slowest and have the worst bot bonuses of the ewar. Small drainers/neuts need to be looked at, they are almost useless right now. I'd rather run with 1 ECM than 3 neutralizers.

T1/T2 Nexus isn't worth it IMO, too small of a bonus. Nexus will be good in 3-5 months, but right now, not so good. I feel it takes about 250k EP to lay down the basis of your character to make Nexus worthwhile. If you could get your hands on T3/T4 Nexus modules they are worth it. Right now your better off making yourself 15-24% better on individual extensions, than you are adding 1% to a group. Soon it will be a week or more between extension upgrades and that is when Nexus gets interesting.

Healers are good in any game, nothing different here.

It's time for more islands. Seems like alpha is getting dead pretty quick. Alpha mining is going to run low real quick and everyone is getting their rep high enough to hit beta missions.

efficient energy transfer 3. Character planner says it was 549 EP. I was around 5100 EP. Got the pop up and was around 4600 EP, but didn't get the extension increase. Then I tried it again and I was down around 4000 EP and did get the extension increase.

Just rechecked it. I lost EP by clicking yes to it. Someone else said they lost EP to it too.

Patch today had some kind of message when I tried to spend EP. So I tried to increase an extension. It then took the EP from me and didn't increase the extension. I then tried again and it worked normally. So I lost 562 EP I think it was.

Pre-release guys should start thinking about mechs, but they still can't drive them very well, unless they gimped themselves with an assault. Really need around 120k EP to drive a mech decently. You should have every applicable combat extension to 5-8 range before thinking about driving a mech. For now assault bots are the way to go. I don't see mechs being very useful for soloers/duoers. I see them as more of a group thing. Get 2-3 mechs with 2-4 assault bots to farm the harder spawns on beta. A solo mech on beta is a dead mech if you get spotted by hostiles.

It's a bad development choice and one that will cost them players.

Depends on what kind of indy character. If your going to do mining at all I'd use the same character as many of the extensions translate. If all your going to do is research/production skills you might want to use a second character, but I'd highly recommend against doing so. Splitting your EP between two different things like that is just going to leave you no good at doing either one at least inside a year. It takes roughly 2 years to get to 10s in many combat skills, it takes roughly 8 months to get to 8s in many combat skills. Splitting your EP before getting your combat extensions to 8ish is a big waste of effort IMO.
