Jita,

Nothing to stop that. But the alt won't be able to just sit and watch troop movements. But it will become standard practice to throw a sacrificial arkhe through the gate to see what's there. The beta group will already know you're coming because they will have eyes on the alpha side.

The only thing removing the safe zones does is make it mandatory to camp the gate.

When I first found out that people can TRASH their stuff in cargo before they die, I was like wtf is that... and this is supposed to be a PvP game which encourages PvP??? And now see yourself, they just made right changes with last patch and I have no doubts we will see less and less safe zones in the future if the devs still want to keep the PvP players in this game.

You know that players can still delete thier cargo right? They don't enter combat until you make an agressive act on them. This will on average give them 5-6 seconds to delete.

Are you OK with that, is that acceptable?

Shin,

Dec 2011 - Mechs are expensive and take a lot of EP to drive. Very few are used in PVP, most combat is with light and assult bots because they are cheap; there is lots of cheap battles, and few expensive battle with mechs.

Dec 2012 - Mechs are cheap and everyone has the EP to drive them. They are used in PVP all the time. The Heavy Assualt Tank is expensive and takes 12 months of EP to drive, very few players have them and they are not used in PVP.

The point: The bulk of PVP will always be between cheap bots. There will always be a bot that players are drooling over to drive, but will not be used in general PVP because they are too damn expensive.

As a side note: Its still going to be relative to how much you play though. Even if you have the EP your still going to need NIC to buy and replace your bot, whatever model you are driving. Players that are on 4 hours a day are going to outdistance the 4 hour a week players. OMG.. I'm going to say it... if you want level progression go play wow (I FEEL SO DIRTY!!!  LOL). But seriously hard core players that put in a lot of time are just going to be able to afford better equipment. Casual players will need to join a generous Corp to compete.

Why won't this thread just die?

Agreed. No reason to log in if your just going to delete the account.

Safety timer on Alpha->Beta TPs, no safe zones (even beta terminal), docking and teleporting "process" takes 5 seconds and is interupted if shot.

Simpler idea.

Beta transporters are 1-way from alpha.

Outbound teleports, which go to the same alpha point, are 1000 Meters away from the inbound.

No safe zones, but no restriction on using teleporter. Flagged or not, if you live to reach the outbound, you can leave.

Edit: 1200 meters away, or outside of landmark range if that changes

Its 58,500 EP to go from Industrial 5 to 8, which is 40 days to drive a Riviter, assuming the transport is heavy too, start saving now and you'll be able to drive it when the next big content patch comes out in Feb.

Warwick,

EU and US have different standards and set thier own regulations, as the European Microsoft division found out.

If Perpetuum doesn't have a server in the US, they are not conducting business in the US. This is why over seas pirate video servers continue to operate until the US can get cooperation from the EU to shut them down.

Copyright and IP is a totally different issue. If Perpetuum filed for a copyright and patent on thier IP with US patent office, they could defend any infringment; and not technically be bound by civil or criminal law.

It will be very boring and many new player will leave after few weeks of playing (most of them want to pilot the mechs...not the small spider like cans).

If new pilots could get into mechs, and afford to lose them, they would be the new 'low cost bot'. Then it would be boring blobs of mechs in combat.

Yep, you don't commit your 'big guns' for skirmishes or mechs PVP roams... not until mechs become the low cost bots that is.

We understand that for some of you the visual appeal of the game doesn't feel on par with the AAA titles you usually see in the mmorpg world. That's because for now we're in a whole different category, especially when it comes to budget and team size. We strongly feel that for now our priorities should be about the game breaking issues and exploits - not being on par visually with other games doesn't fall into that category.
That said, we're constantly working on ways to make the client perform better and thus be able to handle more and better looking graphical content. The following months will hopefully see the numbers of the development team grow which will make handling all the different aspects of the game a lot easier.

Thank you for posting here. smile

I just think this game isn't for you bud.

Biz,

This thread has totally gone to ***, but I'm going to reply anway, because more of my crap can't make it any worse.

Deleting cargo during combat only IS a special case, because you can delete cargo at any other time. My stance on this has been to either "Remove Deleting" or "Leave it as is". Removing the abilty to delete cargo would be a pain, i.e. makes the game 'harsher'. So I'm not trying to reduce this game to the lowest common denominator, which is what I think people mean by saying go play WoW.

By making a special case for delete, all the devs have done is open a window for additional qq about how deleting works. One agent has already posted that his target was able to delete the cargo before he could perform an agressive action. So the fix didn't fix what it was supposed to fix.

Maybe your inabilty to see both sides of an issue, and make informed comments, makes this game too harsh for you?

But i really fear that it will end up like in EVE... 80% of all standard pvp (except bigger events) will be that vaga/wolf whatever skirmish thingies. Dozens of e-war bots and "low cost vehicles".

Continual "high cost" bot combat is unsustainable. Even with unlimited resources it take time to roll mechs off the line, and they die much faster than they can be produced; and no one has unlimited resources either.

If there is some game mechanic that stops low cost bot combat, then pvp will be 10-20 minutes of pew pew and 5-6 days of nothing.

The only response I can think of is.. 'it was an accident i jumped into the pvp island'.. and that reason is just loaded with fail.

This could actually be an issue. The names and destinations of the teleports can be very confusing when you are new. If they do remove the safe zone, the teleporter should warn you that your leaving Syndicate protection (just like Eve does). Something like;

"Warning. The destination you have selected is camped. You will be flagged and ganked before your screen even loads, are you sure you want to do this?"

*bump*

We don't actually like holding hands, Life just makes us do it; something about being a team building experience... or step 8 of 12, not sure what he meant by that.

How does the EU view EULA? US has no jurisdiction over this game anyway.

Remove the gate safety and the gates will be camped, its a choke point.

The only question is who will be camping the gate and who will they be farming.

Next topic: Make alpha teleporters randomly suck people through, because sitting on the beta side for hours waiting for someone to step through is boring.

Well, what usually is done in this case is to create a new company. The only purpose of that company is to hold the license. And when you want to sell the software, you sell the company with its licenses/software.

Just cus I feel like arguing... smile

You would need to create the seperate company first, and buy the software for with that company. In the above case, the EULA prevents you from transfering owership, doesn't matter if its an individual or new company. But yes if you knew ahead of time you would be needing to sell licenses, that would be the way to go.

I wasn't all that happy with the responses, but they did respond to input.

Well done and thank you.

Edit: PS. Dev's are posting in other forums, can they also post a link here on the offical forums so we can all follow without searching all over the Internet?
