Does Hungary have Take out?

Oh, we take stuff out all the time. Just watch.

I never said it will have visible signs apart from the involved people not posting anymore. smile

The suspensions will extend to the forums as well, yes.

Tangent: The forum's pirate smiley has been restored.

We added a diagnostic feature in the client that can help us find out where the network congestions are:

1. Open the console (`/~ key by default, can be reassigned in the keyboard settings)
2. Enter openprofiler to open the debug window.
3. Select the tab "traceroute".
4. Press the TRACE button and wait until the process finishes. (It will say "Statistics sent." once it finished.)

What this will do is perform a standard ICMP traceroute and send the data to our server, after which the server will do the same internally to get statistic data from both routes.

Hopefully this will highlight where the failing routers are.

Yeah, I know the feeling...

Oh wai--

Our webserver load is minuscule, so it should be an in-between connection problem. hmm

So with today's patch, the command renderhugemap in the console will dump the very same image out for you.

It will occasionally get updated when I feel energetic and youthful.

Thanks for another good podcast.

Since most of them tend to be quite long, would it be possible to list the topics for discussion in your post and when they will appear in the cast? (e.g Current political landscape: 05:00, Coming patch discussion 27:00)

I did suggest this earlier, having a TOC for it.

Yes, terraforming was one of the reasons I got to subscribe. Then I heard it will come in a future patch. 6 months gone, I have not heard anything about it. sad

It's one of those things that has been in the engine since Day 1 (in fact the first ever weapon we built in game 2-3 years ago was technically a shovel), but we still couldn't figure a proper way to implement in in a gamedesign sense. hmm

2.5m I think, but I'm not sure.

RPS has been very good to us from the early beta days. Dunno if they have reviews there but Jim did write an article about us for Eurogamer back then.

If you get to the login screen and can enter your username and pwd, it means the connection was made and at least SOME data exchange was successful.

Do you have some sort of restrictive firewall or VPN that can hinder network on your end?

Stuff like that happens - our goal is to do our thing well enough so that after a certain point they won't be able to ignore us wink

Isn't it possible to extract the high rez images out of the datafile which comes with the game?  Read the right table and build a map?

http://www.perpetuum-online.com/~gargaj/fullmap.png (29MB, 10k * 10k, might wanna watch out opening this in a browser.)

Automatic export from the client, lossless, full map. Will add icons + labels if I can.

As far as signatures go, we started signing the posters Kalsius sent us, so as soon as we can get enough of the DEVs to do their errands in the office, you'll prolly get a piece - given that you show up for the next podcast recording wink

Just to add this: My plan (eventually) is to add this as a console command into the client so you can later do it yourself. Can't promise icons or labels though.

Oh and note that the image will be HUGE so such exports might take a while and possibly hang the client.

Oi, let's stick to the topic.

Which is "why YOU never mustered up the courage of joining the podcast".
