Total agree on that.

Initally i hated harvesting. But somehow i got used to it.
You move around and fill you can and after several hours out in the wild your corpmates pay you a visit and bring everything home. *mission successful* ... done with harvesting for a week.

But now:

Harvest some plants at the other end of the island (walk 5km) .. harvest every plant you find .. have someone bring a lithus to the other end of the world .. realize that the amount you got is laughable *pissed+1*

Harvesting on beta? Uh .. i harvest to -relax- to NOT worry about enemys. And having a defense squad going for ~3 hours so you can do the plants? *boooooring* and not rewarding at all.

Its difficult to say something about the current market.

Ore market looks ok but the volumes are still small, market for commodities is imho in a sad state.  But thers a huge demand on the market for T2/T3 and in some cases T4.

Im tempted to say that there are not enough "carebears". I guess its the PvE experience (grinding relation, ore, doing logistics and missions) that needs love. The amount of time spend for driving around and doing logistics is too high.

The amount of raws traded/day (hope i didnt miscalculate) is equivalent to 5000U (~21 lithus or ~62 sequers) but 5000U is not THAT much.
If youve ever hauled 5000U from one station to another then you will realize that is a huge waste of time nobody is willing to pay for.

If (IF) theres not enough titan for everyone prices will rise and alpha dwellers can sell their (stockpilled) titan for ridiculous prices.
This will happen sooner or later. Especially if the market recovers real fast (which i hope).

Buying titan from alpha dwellers (on the free market) is efficient because it saves you a lot of time. And if you dont have NIC .. because you are a communist .. well thats your problem.
Go trade goods instead (like people did in stone age) ;P

I think you dont understand the value of NIC.
And please dont think that alpha dwellers are a bunch of simpleminded ***. They will mine the titan - it just became their "epi".
And they will kick your *** if you try to fool them tongue

Even if you had a economist posting in this thread you would just start to argue with him. big_smile ridiculous!

Thats just the bot. And you still need fittings...
But: How much ores per minute? What ores? How much time did you spend traveling? whats your refine ratio? Whats the quality of your CT? What Factory level? Decoder? etc etc etc ..

@Kalsius
Market alone cant fix that.
Even if the devs inject large amounts of NIC (inflate NIC), like the Insurance fraud did, the work:fun ratio remains and some people get rich while others quit the game.
What the NPC buy orders do/did is "inject NIC".
Right now the market cant fix itself (stagnates because of deflation as result of the insurance fraud fix) because of the work:fun ratio.
It got a bit better with plasma (another way to create NIC).
But bottom line: Prices are still ridicules and the time required to mine all the ores is out of balance.

Probably the easiest way to fix the economy is lower the ores required to refine commodities by 40%.
Inflating NIC more would only result in the economy we had when people did insurance fraud.

Tbh: Im tired of this topic, Im out.

More ore will lower ore prices yes, and prices of everything tbh.

Lets concentrate one this two points ..

Buff mined amount, make everything cheaper by 1/3

yields .. i would suggest * 1,5
make everything cheaper by 1/3 .. 1/3 less ore required to build something.

In my example it would be like that:

6 000 000 NIC earned (from the imentium you mined for three hours):

Intakt:
Marketprice for one (fitted): 3 259 130
Real production price (fitted): 1 926 444.96

Work/fun Ratio for one fitted intakt would be between 1:1/2:1 and prolly 3:1 for a newb .. tada! ..

Work 3 hours .. put one intakt into your storage, waste one pvping and sell one to some newb. That wont fix the server population but maybe the economy smile

11

(114 replies, posted in General discussion)

Please take a look at my example .. thats just a intakt.
Even a ratio of 1:1 (e.g. you could mine that much in one hour) would mean that you actually have to work one hour to get your intakt back... smile

And you know how fast this little bots die .. wink

Edit: If he sells his ore for .. lets say 4 NIC per ore then indys will just adjust prices.
Polynitrocol would be more expensive and prices for ammo and a couple of other things would go up...

12

(114 replies, posted in General discussion)

Now what im saying is that someone has to work four hours. Doesnt matter who does it but someone has todo it.

If you buy the ore on the market, well.. someone worked four hours for it. If you want to mine it yourself .. go mine four hours.

Even if you buy 700U on the market and build mechs. The guy that mined it wont have much fun with the NIC...

13

(114 replies, posted in General discussion)

Thats the explanation to: Why people left this game after the patch and why we need to rebalance a couple of things to get them back.

4:1 is acceptable for _some_ people (as we can see). But the many players/people think its just boring. And they are right...
Especially people who already love this game are willing to accept 4:1 but even those get bored because population drops...
Im not sure if this game needs 2:1 or 3:1 but something needs to change.

@Zoom sorry...

(114 replies, posted in General discussion)

Your example doesnt provide any solid data but a lots of estimates.
Just because i can (i ignore tax for this one):

Lets say you mine 211 imentium per second (not impressive but not bad either)
If you spend three hours mining (just mining, no travel time, no hauling, not changing spots)
thats 2278800 ores imentium.
Current price on the market is 1.71 NIC .. lets say you sell everything for 1.8
Thats: 4 101 840 NIC .. if you find someone who buys it.

Now substract the 5020 charges you needed. 21 NIC if you buy them on the market:
105 420NIC

Lets just say youve got 4 000 000 NIC left and want to fit a intakt as tackle:
ltes buy on the market: wink

Intakt 889000
T4 demob: 949177.06
T4 LWF 1649900
T2 Range extender: 450000
T3 Sensor amp: 999999

Total 4 938 076 NIC *dang*

Just for *** an giggles .. production prices:

Intakt: 736 294 NIC
T4 demob: 873 195 NIC
T4 LWF: 502 387 NIC
Range extender (t2 has to be enough): 358 930 NIC
Sensor amp (T3 is enough): 448 050 NIC

Total: 2 918 856 NIC

But then again you need a incubator (noralgis) for that T4 stuff, harvester charges, have to mine more then just one ore etc etc.
And heh, you didnt even move your termis, sequer, riveler, lithus or w/e.

4:1 is what you get if you take everything into acocunt

No *** sherlock!
I know the production costs and prices for every single item this game has.
And im taking EVERYTHING into account.

*edit* Offensive. - DEV Zoom
...and start to calculate it yourself.

And btw there are some more points on my list. Im not talking about "reverting alpha" but about unnerfing it. And thats not something I need thats something this game needs.

Way to take that out of context, here's the whole quote again.

Want to lose more bots but ore is the bottleneck, get more miners or get your existing miners better equipment, or farm nic to buy ore.

Yes, I'm serious, if you can't produce enough bots to support your current rate of PVP loses, then find a way to make more or lose less. Not a difficult concept and it works for tightening up the whole manufacturing process of refining and factory production. Or you can try to come on the forums and try to convince 'somebody' that reverting the minerals back to the former levels will magically fix everything wrong with the game.

Now, wasn't that productive? No, it wasn't.

You just dont get it. Your argumentation is that this game is supposed to be boring for everyone. Reminder: Its a game, people want to have fun.
Right now you need four miners to support one pvp guy.
Thats not something i pull out of my ***, ive got all the numbers and calculated it.

There would be no need to multibox six miners if one PvE guy could support one PvP guy.

17

(114 replies, posted in General discussion)

Youre saying that there is no need for resources that support players that actually play the game. WTF?
And btw even if there were enough resources you would still spend four of five hours farming/mining.

Arga wrote:

..get more miners..

Yes we had (and tbh still have) dedicated miners (YES REAL CAREBEARS).
.. most of em quit because the patch pissed them of.

Now what? Find more desperate miners? You cant be serious arga...

Lets get back on topic, this is what i mean with "intrusions need to be fixed".

Devs please give me(us) some feedback.

Exactly what im talking about.

Gordon Gekko wrote:

Fix those things and the game population will rise again. And maybe some older player will return.

Please dont turn this into "we need more features and content" or "need to force people to do whatever".

AFK Mining is not FUN but its not BORING either. And someone has to mine!
Doesnt matter if its the alpha-indy, your corp mate or $random_chinese_farmer.
Someone has to get this ores out of the earth to build something.

The "nerf alpha to nerf beta"-thing worked. Almost all corps are starving and carebears are pissed. I dont see a problem with strong beta corps. I want competition, awesome PvP and a Market that kicks *** rather then t4 mk2s slaying t1 bots and miners that quit because they are bored.

Btw: ill quit the day this game forces me to get up at 5am just because a enemy signed up for a intrusion that would lock me out of my outpost.
Been there dont that. Im not willing dedicate my life to PO.

Arga wrote:

I've discussed the mining nerf before, there was a chain reaction that lead to the industry exodus, and mining change was just part of it. I say this only because reverting the mineral content isn't going to get industry players, the carebear contingent, back into the game. The rest of the game needs to be healthy also to support the return of all players, and that is something that is just going to take time and effort on the part of the pioneering player base.

We are already seeing the trials bringing in new players, and sure some of the existing base will leave, but there is no silver bullet, no 'finger snap' that's going to change the game in one patch.

Exactly, that train has left several weeks ago.
But even new carebears quit because its no fun for them and new islands wont change that.
Fix the gameplay, fix the work/fun ratio!

22

(114 replies, posted in General discussion)

Im not asking for more content. All im asking for is that they fix what is in place.
And i think new Islands wont make this game more exciting. Im waiting for them, like everyone else does. But Seriously: whats different if we get some more islands?

Everything will remain constant except the location of some events.

Mining empty fields / driving hours across the island pisses PvE guys off
Market will be broken (got better since plasma-patch but still)
Plants grow too slow
Everything remains expensive
Kain will be the No. 1 roaming mech
Transport assignments are still the best way to make money
Squad assignments are still a one-man-show
Intrusion dates will be exploited

Yea i keep missing your events for some reason >.< Maybe next weekend... smile

(114 replies, posted in General discussion)

Its not that easy Arga. Almost Everyone is bored and about to leave.
Many did it already and more are about to..

Atm the grind(mine/farm) : fun ratio is 4:1. You spend 4 hours doing boring things for one hour of fun. Devs have to do the rights things to get this game out of the woods.
Waiting five months doesnt fix anything.

Imo 7 days is to long to wait for a change that is not sure making the situation better and the islands are more then 7 days away, so for me its a pain. if it dont bring more players to the game, people is going to get bored. i know becouse i am.

Zorac wrote:

Yeah, the main issue for me at the moment is the low population. We need something in the game that will both attract and keep new players because the boredom is growing for each day.

Ive got some great ideas (easy to implement) to unbore this game and get people back wink :

Buff mined amount, unnerf alpha (to get PvE guys back), unnerf plants, make everything cheaper by 1/3, nerf kain, buff ictus, fix assignments (money, rewards), add harder assignments, fix squad assignments, fix intrusion dates

No you dont need complete logs for that wink
Why would someone have the permission to clean storage logs if you dont want him todo that?

Right now im doing all of the things you suggested with just the csv files the game provides and its working great.
All it needs atm is health and source. Because i need to know if a item is damaged or not and where it came from.
