Question is, do you want intel to be acquired in game though playing?  Or do you want intel to be made available on a website?

Well I think the overall issue some are having (political reasons aside) is that it waters down possible strategies.

Basically it will eventually nullify creative tactics that work.  Why?  Well lets say for instance there is a highway one of merkels alts continually gets kills at a certain time of day...at an exact location.  Well we can now log off some characters there, and ruin the login trap...and I didn't even have to participate in playing the political or intel aspect of the game to know there.  Before perhaps if I was the victim enough I would realize and do something about it...but that involved me playing...this doesn't.

I don't think this is a massive deal, because there is an easy fix for it.

But basically this waters down the value of good intel, which imo, is a foundation content in a game like this.  It will ruin somewhat stealth operations...and as was mentioned, its just too much info available outside the game by anyone.

This isn't a "well STC is doing this so lets disagree" or "well cir is against it so lets be for it" which some seem unable to get past...its about taking what use to be vital intel obtained in game, being smart about where people were getting killed...and packing that all into a quick map and kill board...and removing the need to do it in game.

hell if you want to make it easier to locate pvp hot zones, break it down by island sector (moyar vs koykili vs hedydelhorn)  but pointing out exact locations ruins a lot of creative gameplay...and devalues good intel.

Ok seriously...Thief was on the steam front page "coming soon" for like 7 months.

Any other game out there gets plopped on the coming soon section on their front page when they get listed.  Grim Dawn did when they announced early access prior to launch...and they have like two developers...., hell even IOS ports get on there.

Right now on steam the only way you know this game exists is if you search directly for it, or have been perhaps following it from the obscure greenlight section it was in before...

Since its only two weeks before its steam launch, you need to do whatever the hell every other game on steam does did to get front page exposure....

and if for whatever reason the game doesn't get new release exposure when it does launch on steam expect a tiny, insignificant trickle of new players.  Front page access is how all those steamlings see when a new game is available.

Right now you are on steam and no one knows.  This is a problem.  Bat phone Gabe or something...if IOS ports can get steam front page exposure you guys should as well.

Call steam up, raise hell, demand your game be listed in the "coming soon" section and then demand a gurantee that when it is launched it goes into new releases...hell try to get on the banner part as well incase some shovelware dev dumps their back log or someone dumps 50 DLC on the same day.  Staying where you are now on steam isn't going to work.  Your steam forums should have several pages of redundant steamling threads about the game...and it has my thread (which zoom hijacked) and two recruit threads with no posts...no one knows you are there on steam...and this shouldn't be the case.

all you get back are charges, based on how many terminals your corp place before the cut off.

that's it.

I think the function should be pvp immunity with a safe travel option.

so you pop the beacon, everyone in your squad becomes immune to pvp fire, then a list of safe havens would appear and grant the ability for the squad to be teleported to safety and presented with a bonus cash reward for courage.

also the beacon would make everyone who is red to you insta explode, even if docked (your bank would just explode)\

Oh and the exploding reds would then be perma banned from the game to ensure STC dominance once again and we can rename it the PVE server.

man they need to get the game on the steam front page and fast.

and pray some shovelware developer and or DLC dump doesn't happen when they do (as to push them off the front page)

well trial accounts have the 15 days worth of EP + the 40K starter EP.

Makes me wish I bought the amazon kick starter pack prior to going lifetime sub...would have had 60K and some sparks.

I could'nt agree more tbh.

Zoom did mention he is expecting much more than the Eve exodus and the $30 price tag is to lower the amount of players coming, because they were not sure if thousands of players could break their game. I still think lowering the price is a good idea despite the risk, because it might be the only chance they have, when the hype is high on Steam release.

Lets try on be optimistic here: 30$x 1000 new accounts = $30,000.

Whilst $20x 2000 new accounts = $40,000 plus much more Perpetuum Credit sales, and much more pvp happening. This should keep the ball rolling.

After the hype is gone lowering the price might make little difference though.

Hope hes right about more than eve-exodus.  This time around theres actually sandbox content to keep those kinds of players.

Only fear I have, its not going to be eve players who get this type of game.  Its going to be people who go "oh look another mech game and I don't have it" the go "meh Hawken is way better"

Getting more people into the game is far more important that preserving veteran advantages, or keeping the game "eve pure"

You simply cant say something doesn't work well for a game like this, then cite guild wars 2 as an example.  The only thing out there like perpetuum is eve, and eve hasn't really strayed much in its business model.

Removing a subscription is SMART for this game.  You give existing players the ability to pick up and play the game whenever they want.  You also remove the *** stigma that subscriptions are bad and expensive from new players.

Fill the cash shop up with goofy ***, I don't care, give the new player ability to jump ahead and be on par with everyone else for a price, don't care....This game cant/wont survive with a few hundred active players.

Game needs a steady and decent population, which imo, might be possible without many new players granted existing ones could come and go freely....and yes it needs a good war...nothing makes people go play other games more than enemies that run from a fight consistently.

Oh and trust me, the steamlings are going to have big issues with paying $30 for a game that isn't a high fidelity Titanfall/Call of Duty caliber game.  Not all, but a lot, and they will be very vocal on the steam forums.  This games going to need to be VERY honest on steam, and not appear to be a mech FPS, or a world of mechcraft.

agreed, id gladly give any minor advantages I have in return for an active game with lots of players.

You think giving new players the option to cut in half their catch up time is a turn off?

I hate the concept as well, but at this point...the game needs to do this.

Also, you don't want the option to take off a full month without having to log in every 3 days?

Burial:

Right click the geoscanner folder title

delete that, and all under will be deleted.

For instance: you have a Daoden folder and 300 titan ore scans in it, you don't mine there anymore and hate seeing it.  Click on the Daoden part and delete.  Or...if you just want to delete one ore type from a list within an island, click that ore type and delete.

So as fun as multiboxing a follow alt to spam armor rep, energy, love, onto my combat...

Why not create a new slot and item, support drone.

You could supplement the loss of income from new account figuring out they need one via cash shopping various drone skins.

The way it would work is that it should have a drone EP section that's light on EP cost.

The drone would be an inventory item like any other robot, and go into a slot made available on and mech or above.

The drone could have a few slots like any other robot, with the same accumulator, life, lock times ect.

Put whatever mods you need on the drone.  Provide an innate drone support bonus based on EP spent to make them viable (they have to be better than a rivaler jacked up with support mods)

When you undock a cute little drone is now hovering over your shoulder or whatever.  It will have its own on screen layout so you can control its use.

And there...no more need for a dumbass rivaler following around your mech.

I feel like the requirement for follow bots in a lot of situations sucks...and having a support drone that does this for you, on the same account, is a much more fitting way to go about this.

I thought I remember seeing a mention that you wont be able to follow locked targets, which would render follow support bots useless...not sure if that's just crazy talk...but this would be a good way to get that effect, make some cash shop cash with stupid hats and skins for the drone ect.

This is kind of the problem.

New players will immediately turn to "quests" since most are trained to do this in other games, and attempt to use those as the main source of progression.

Assignments, at least to me, are just something to stack on to what im already doing, or if I feel the need to get tokens...nothing more.

If im going to mine an ore, and theres an assignment, why not?  Even if I park there for several hours.  Other than that, theres not much point to them.

Problem with a game like this, really any hardcore sandbox...metagame, diplomacy, corporations...that's the game...the rest is just grind/farming...

I feel new players are going to get the idea that they can spam assignments as a good way to progress...when they would probably be much better off just going off and farming stuff until their eyes bleed, get into a corporation to give reason for their efforts...and not even attempt to ease them in with assignments.

Im not sure what would be a better option for them.  Its going to be brutal when this goes live on steam and people pay $30 thinking they are getting a robot world of warcraft and end up with roboEVE.

Do assignments because you want beacons or ammo bought with tokens...or just want to have rewards....at least after your immediate entry into the game where that tiny amount of nic and guidance is needed.  Don't worry about relations or progressing with PVE factions.  Get into a corp, get some reasons to do stuff, then go do it...pick an assignment up if its convenient.

dibs on Sephiroth and Tywin Lannister!

Umm...

Let me explain how early access on steam works

You pay them money for a game, and they can give you any form of game, in an absolute mess state, unfinished, and go ..."welp its EA"

So my crystal ball, which is fully operation unlike the above poster with his cheap "peons version" from walmart...tell me.

This game is going on steam, and its going to say there are a lot of features that it doesn't have currently in game... and keep the EA (early access not *** game publisher electronic arts) tag...

Might be interesting there might be a lot of surprise features listed there on steam, and granted steam works out well and they make decent money, enough to hire more Hungarian potato mathmaticians, these super secret features might become a reality.
And now that the game is buy to play...

They can make the game as an EA game, then if there are any complaints just shrug it off as a work in progress.

So how many people are expecting to come back april 2nd when the game drops its fees?

Also...how will the EP work out...still time based?

People think this will be good for the game or are the people still playing pissed about this?

TBH I was 100% for p2p only on a game like this, but given the player base being so small, and the worst aspect being no players...perhaps its for the best...im all for it...

anyway ill probably give the game an honest go come april...its been a while...
