Does it cost anything after the trial accounts? All the talk about rampant cheating going haywire on the servers in past times makes me feel a pit as if im not ready to risk real money and loose my efforts in there to abusers, hackers and exploiters. But i would love to try to game finally smile

For me auto-repair would be like some kind of magic auto attack. If you want missiles, you install missiles. If you want armor repair, install armor repair modules. No auto anything but auto-walk.

I get angry every time that i read about how it all went down, how light their security was, considering the military budget,a little more could have been spent for the men working in the area that not long ago was in all out civil war.

Yeah your so right but sadly it would seem in this situation it was to little. The sad fact is people tend to be *** prefering to react rather than be proactive. After all why spend money unless you have to hmm

Agreed, that is the good side of putting names and faces on people because its easy for those in charge to see numbers instead of faces, families, potential, and all the rest wich is lost.

I understand where Zortarg is coming from politically, but this guy was there as a civilian and not a soldier.
If you only want to compare numbers then yes, many countries have suffered very cruely at the will of the american armed forces. Generally though, every country wants to have embassys of their own in other countries as well as their own embassys all over the world. Including places like iran, egypt etc. Embassys are not part of an invading force,if anything a country should be worried only when embassys start pulling out. But that is a political discussion.

This man(and many others at the embassy too) was a civilian, taking a risk in what is pretty much still a war-zone and he was killed because of a movie,or possibly some other motive with the movie protest as a cover.

On an individual level this is both tragic and unneccesary. On a political level, well, that is best discussed elsewhere because this man already paid in full for any wrong any one may accuse him of,so has anyone who is now dead. My opinion.

Zortarg,

I think its the fact that here we have a name,a face and a long story so its easier for people to relate to.

Same way the death of someone close hurts but the deaths of millions far away is really just a number.
I dare anyone to show me who can truly mourn a million,or even just a thousand deaths genuinely.

And i agree, every murder should be treated equal, but to me i feel like these people need not have died if people in charge had taken the neccesary precautions. Cause obviously that didnt work. hmm I blame the perpetrators as much as i blame those in charge of the embassy and its workers safety.

Perhaps old changes need to be reviewed under current conditions, or simpy increasing the percentages of armor self-repair extensions?

May all embassy's and other official but civilian personell get increased safeguards in the future.
The only thing that suprised me was that anyone was suprised at all.
For america, much of the middle east is not friendly territory.
There are always groups, big and small, some in government and some in tribes and local gangs. Groups that want to do harm.

Did these men have to die for there to be a wake up call? Why do men always have to die before more drastic measures are put in place to prevent it.

Im not gonna R.I.P or anything else to a man i never knew. Im not even american. Hes a victim same as thousands others down there. I will only say sorry, for your last moments must have been terrifying.

More than anything i feel for the wife and children. I hope they are taken care of by their government, and their friends.
Hope the college fund works out. Having less things to worry about allows you to grieve easier.

this topic is probably as old as the bonus is on that bot - and thats since it was changed from

"all weapons optimal range 5%" to
"magnetic weapon optimal range 5%" to
"magnetic weapon falloff range 5%" to finally
"all weapons falloff 5%"

like i said - its not the bonus that is wrong... its the almost non-existant falloff range on almost all weapons ingame that makes it so pointless.

Either way, theres a faction walking around with a sub-par/useless bonus right now and i think the fact i have to bring up this old thread is a problem in and of itself. Shouldnt either the bonus,or the falloff numbers on weapons have been fixed by now?.

In your list of old changes, what prevents from reverting it back to 2% optimal range per level or something similar.

I still personally find the Demob resistance to be more in line with what the bots intended for, and aslong as its not a 5% bonus it should not remove the ability to slow us just make it less reliable and thus providing us with the opening we need to close in for an attack.

I took away the "troll" suggestion and added yours anni.
Still i feel, personally, that falloff should be resolved mainly by altering the weapons.
The bonus to falloff we get from extensions should be enough if the aforementioned doesnt miss any glaring gaps.

However, what do you think anni of replacing it with something wich makes it less difficult to close range?
Buffing armor repairs likely wont happen. a 3-5% (3% seems most balanced?) per level demob resistance,
and perhaps a very nominal speed increase of the bot is in order?

Im just brainstorming now and trying to get yours and others ideas going. smile

And anni i agree that falloff should be changed but im still not convinced that i find falloff bonuses as being in line with other mechs bonuses, regardless of a fix on weapons innate falloff. What do you and everyone else reading think? Chip in,by all means smile

Please dont troll me and/or derail the thread from its purpose. For blue bots to voice their concern over this particular bonus. The devs have balanced the bots before and this is just intended as a thread to bring all concerns for nuimqol under one roof, have the devs read it and hopefully make some more inspiring and effecient changes should they be found neccesary to do so.

Its ultimately up to the devs, and balance concers, what we eventually get if infact we get anything at all. With or without another look at various robots bonuses.

Trolling in here just serves no purpose..

1 - Sensor strenght bonus (10% per level)
Blue bots already have the shortest range. Moving forward often mean entering the 800m range of some zenith, and we get completely shut-down. I would like to suggest we get a passive sensor strengh bonus to resist Ewar and move into efficient range.

We already have the strongest Ewar strenght on Vagabond (excepted a particular Zenith MK2 fit), wouldn't that be logical our faction would also be in a leading position of ECCM ?

2 - Demob Resistance ( 5% per level)
Short range also mean relying on speed to catch oponents. If we fits plates, we are too slow. If we fits lightframe, a single demob negate our advantage.
If a medium plate give 25% demob resist, why not give us the equivalent, without the added HP?

3 - Passive Health Regeneration ( (1% HP per level / 10 sec )
Being the faction specialised in repairing ourselves, it sounds logical we could have self repairing bots. This also helps on keeping the bots light and fast without the weight of repairer.
If you do not like the % value, I would then suggest a fixed value, influenced by both repair skills. ( to improve HP repaired, and reduce cooldown. It would basically work like a free repair module working permanently.)

4 - 6% Shield bonus per level

5 - FIX FALLOFF and the weapons associated. View annihilators charts!
Clearly shows that short range versions are beyond getting any usefull benefits from either the bots 50% or with maxed extensions to go with that.

These are the suggestions being thrown around atm. I left out hit dispersion becuse it would mostly impact short range weapons against small bots, wich would be a small part of the overall gameplay.

The numbers and percentages are all up for discussion, personally i think a 2-3% demob resistance would be one of several possible replacements. The one thing we all agree on seems to be a wish for the falloff bonus to be replaced and i hope the devs take notice of this and keep it in mind if and when the robots are once again up for a slight review.

I guess he is talking about what happens when you try to fire on an assault bot,or light e-war with short ranged medium weapons. Your hit chance goes way,way down. 1 of 6 sometimes, with maxxed extensions.

Still though, if that is an issue its a separate one that has to do with the innate hit dispersion of the weapon. Thats my opinion anyway, when modules or weapons are lacking the items themselves should be changed.

That really nails the issue down, the bonus is simply put a subpar one and in one form or another it needs to be addressed. I play a missile bot aswell and as a green pilot i dont feel that my mechs bonuses are subpar. Perhaps there was a time when the falloff bonus was great but today it is nearly useless.

Thanks alot for the numbers anni.

Shield bonus certainly would be interesting, keep the discussion going and hopefully a dev will pop in and leave with some fresh ideas.

Bumping this to the top and adding a +1 for a new look at the falloff bonus and how much use is it anyway?
a 3% per level demob resistance is the best suggestion i could see and that one gets my vote, but i havent crunched any numbers to see how much of an improvement it becomes when you factor in clever fits. 5% is too high though.

I did suggest limiting it to one post per day/CEO only ,and under the corporation bulletin wich goes largely unused when you are freelancing. This way it wouldnt spam newbies nor would it clutter their playfield or ping their mailbox. smile

I started playing in the open beta and joined a corporation right away so really, i always had help and a group to rely on. However, i still have one idea to share. Im also hoping others might have ideas? The steam greenlight is already bringing new players in,and if perpetuum gets greenlit i can only imagine that it will continue to be so.

My idea is basically for an easier way to reach out to new players for corporations.
Basically just make use of existing ingame features (Corporation bulletin perhaps?) and allow the CEO of a corporation to send out a mass mail to all players not in a corporation. This can be used to send out large recruitment information messages. Since the corporation tab goes unused when you are not in a corporation,it sort of make sense to have a sort of "corporation news/advertising" feature there for members who are freelancing or members in an NPC corp.

To avoid abuse by someone spamming, i suggest creating two subsections, with one being "news" and the other "recruitment" within the bulletin. Limit CEO's to a max of 1 posting in each section per day.
This would add to the atmosphere i think and serve as a great way for new players to read about corporation warfare and news on who did what, when. It will also allow corporations to reach out to recruits via another venue.

I know there is a recruitment channel, but they can easily co-exist, and the added feature of having corporation news definetly fits into the game and its lore. Why wouldnt player corporations post about their efforts and success,in a war of the words sort of thing to win over potential recruits? Some guys might even start a dedicated news corp on the side to make use of the feature, wich also just adds to the atmosphere. You might also have some corps posting player guides and tips, followed by a "For more, join us" type of thing.

If people have ideas especially relating to the new player experience please share them here. And consider this a light discussion. Just because something is written here doesnt mean it will be added into the game if you dont pour gasoline on the poster and light him or her on fire. smile

might i suggest that you take the ridiculous numbers that make your calculator burn, and instead use the timestamp for them as the number as a fair and random solution if nothing else works? I cant see how that could be considered as anything but random.

@ Anni

This probobly isnt the last patch, whenever the devs give us something you respond by asking why it wasnt something else,or something more. More will come in time smile Compared to open beta the game has come a long way, and its still growing and improving.
