Yea I really struggle when people say 'x is rubbish'  because it really does depend on the fitting and the situation your in.

But saying that, 7 years later and CCP still balancing their ships, likewise with PO im sure were in for a long and rocky road of balances and tweaks.

Agent creation is quite detailed and self explanatory.

I fail to see how someone could completely mess up their starting traits unless they have some kind of serious mental deficiency.

It doesn't tell you anything about how your attributes effect your skill costs, it doesn't tell you how damn slow EP acquisition is, it doesn't tell you that you can never ever change your attributes, or even spent EP for that matter, and it doesn't tell you that if you do mess up it will cost 2k EP to restart and it doesn't tell you that you wont get 20k ep each time.

Its not really until you've played the game for a week that you actually learn these thing, by which time you've probably already spent your 20k EP.

But, it does seem to be some strategy they've developed to encourage multiple account creation, very under hand but i suppose they must be desperate for the cash.

I don't mind the blandness of the night-time because it reminds me of, well, night.

I think thats the point, my point anyway, it doesnt look like night, it may remind you of night but if you go into a city at night, or look at a busy highway at night lights look brighter, dazzling, awesome. In PO its more like..er a dull british winters day, depressing, uninspiring.

When your going from an alpha station to a teleport terminal where there is a constant stream of bots going back and forth.. I'd expect it to look like a highway at night...

as such..

Great, so if you messed up your character and do want to remake it, not only will you not get the 20k starting EP back but you will lose 2k also!, even if you start a new account you wont be able to use your original name.

I really hope its not just me who see's how wrong this is.

in reality lights during darkness have a higher contrast! they seem brighter,  but the lights in the darkness in PO have a lower contrast.. making everything seem dull, flat and eye-straining.

I wouldnt mind so much that the lanscape is so dull during the night, but I would expect the lights on my robot, others robots and structures to seem much brighter, they dont.

I dont think it copies Eve enough tbh.

Cant link items, no igb, no 'contracts',  no 'shareholder' system, no remote marketing even slower skill learning, even slower traveling, no movement tracking penaltys, no kill mails email bound accounts... just to name a few.

The things it does copy from eve are the bad parts, like 'blob' warfare, mundane pve, forced multiple account system, laggy un-responsive modules.

There are quite a few things PO does better than Eve, but I feel it needs to take more of the good eve points and discard the eve bad points..  then it would be different enough that people dont cry "copy n paste"

seriously eh, but by the time you finished typing that up, i've created 2 email accounts.

What you fail to realise is that in months, maybe years to come when you have forgotten your password and want to recover it,  you'll also realise that you've forgotten the password to those 2 random email accounts,  you may have even forgotten what the  email address was in the first place!

Now you may or may not put in some contingency plan in place to try and avoid that, like write it down somewhere or devise some clever pattern that helps you to remember them or you may even have those mail box's forward to your main.  But you cant foresee the future!  your exposed to any number of unforeseen circumstances.

We could argue and discuss what those unforeseen circumstances are and maybe debate the odds of them happening but the point is.. there is no need for it to be like this!  email-address user-names is a very old fashioned stone-age system that doesn't facilitate ease of use, security and certainly not acceptable to force your loyal, paying customers to go through.

Why on earth has it been set so that to make a new account you must use a separate email address?

Its blatently obvious that the game is made in such a way that you pretty much HAVE to have multiple accounts.  Even when in an active good sized corp.

I dont think anyone is against the idea, its pretty much accepted and since Perpetuum is so cheap  any MMO player could easily afford at least 2 accounts.

So I'm really struggling to understand why its been restricted to email addresses?  of course it is easy to obtain an email address but why make it so difficult?  If people want to have and pay for, multiple accounts then you need to facilitate peoples desire to give you more money, not make it awkward and restrictive.

Everyone loves a new game,  it seems that everytime I play a new game I think "wow this game is awesome"..  what determines if it IS actually a good game is if I still play after a few weeks.

So, Im going to reserve any voting or recommendations until at least the first month is out.  If I re-sub, then usually an mmo is worth voting for.

Since the dev studio is small I'm more interested in knowing how they will cope.  It may be good now with only 500 players, but what will it be like with 5000 players?  how quickly will the devs re-prioritise and deploy changes in the face of big problems.  What expansion plans do they have?..  there are just too many unknowns at this point.

If you want a vibrant player made economy, then you must get EVERY player involved in the economy.  (not just those that make alts or second accounts)

Competition needs to get moving, prices need to come down, markets need to be developed.  Playing the market is a huge side to every MMO and needs to be done right from the outset.

2 slots is not enough, for anyone! it cripples the economy and players ability to play!

Each player needs to be able to set 5 buys orders and 5 sell orders by default.  Now.
