Thanks Devs! You guys rock!

Your honesty and openness towards the players really impressed me.

Continue the great work!

While it would be funny, the ccp logo couldn't be a part of it.  Since the CCP logo is trademarked, legally no one can use the logo without prior written notice -- and we all know CCP would try and charge perp dev's for use of their logo.

They could just call the Corp See See Pee with a logo like this: €€P

This is as embarrassing for us as it may seem, and I'm not sure being blindsided by the flock of users is even a good excuse, but that's all the power of hindsight. All we can do now is work as hard as we can to fix the whole thing as soon as possible.

Thanks for the hard work and the update.

Also: don't be embarrassed. Complex systems are called that for a reason after all. Anyone with even a limited amount of IT experience should know that and have a great deal of understanding for your situation.

Doubling the amount of players in a single day is a pretty damn good "excuse" imo. I'd like to see EVE handle that or even WOW. big_smile

Keep fighting the good fight!

I support this idea and am currently only using one of my three accounts at a time as far as possible (which, for a noob like myself isn't really a huge problem atm).

I didn't know about the IRC channel but will join tonight to further free up a server slot when I just want to socialize.

Happy to see what a great community this is. In EVE this thread would be a flame war by now.

Btw. Your server slot, I can has? SCNR. ;-)

Of course it's a shame that the first few days have been so unstable for me and the other EVE refugees. However, any long-term EVE players will be more then used to some slight instability and server issues here and there. I personally have no problems with server issues as long as the communication between the Devs and customers remains so good.

A quick "Damn guys, server is dying, we're limiting logins for a while" is worth way more to me then some slick Dev Blog written by some PR-bastard.

It shows me that the Devs are basically just cool internet geeks that want to create a cool game and know what their players are also just internet geeks that prefer being talked to like normal people and none of this "Dear Customer" bull.

So take your time to fix the issues - we'll still be here when you're done. wink

And to my fellow EVE refugees I'd like to say: be gentle and think back to EVE a few years ago. Yes it was a little more unstable but it was a game made by gamers for gamers (instead of what it is today - a cash cow for ex-CITIBANK investment bankers to maintain their undeserved high living standards on our backs).

Personally I'll choose the server issues any day!

PS. Yes, I know I'm bitter. I'm already visiting a shrink for it! yikes

CCP claims that at least 60 of them have already been sold... No telling if it was dont by actual players or by the Devs themselves to create false numbers, but all in all, that is 240 months of Game Time Cards that CCP has pocketed the cash and giggled.

... which sounds impressive until you remember that the average EVE player (at least the hard core, long term guys) all have multiple accounts. Personally I've been playing EVE since mid-2005 and I dropped in excess of 2'500€ on subscriptions alone (3-5 accounts). So those 50+ monocles they sold covers about 2 of me.... and I doubt the sales will increase (especially when the "new" wears off and the few thousand people that just reactivated to test incarna have quit again).

The only difference is that the cash they get with RMT is "front loaded" and not spread across a few years. Maybe that's their plan... since 90% of players quit after 6-7 months they figured it's better to bleed them of all their cash ASAP so then nobody cares if they quit (because they've already paid more then a 6-year-player) and don't actually require any new and complex features (expect a new pair of pants in the store every now and then).

Personally I HATE micro transactions in none f2p games. I pay the devs my hard earned cash (3 accounts atm) so they make the game better. Not so they can cherry-pick every new feature that I paid for with my sub and then sell it too me a second time if it can be "monetarized" (spelling?).

That is simply wrong in my eyes. Either my sub pays for the game (including all the features that my sub was used to develop) or you should change your pricing model. Either that or don't waste my sub on developing stuff that I have to pay for a second time.

However, I can live with RMT as long as it's VANITY only and does NOT influence any player driven markets (such as ammo/ships/mods created out of thin air for RL $$$).

I still find it unfair to let me pay your graphics dudes for new skins and then I still have to pay them a second time for every new skin. But I guess I can accept you wasting my money to sell it back to me again as long as I don't feel like i'm being scammed (70$ for a monocle) or as long as I'm not forced to double pay you to remain competitve.

Imho I'd rather pay 3$ more for sub but then get the entire game (and not finance projects/features that i won't benefit from).

Just my 0.2 NIC.

I would prefer some people to take this time and realize that Perpetuum is not EVE Online™'s vacation resort. I have seen people on Jita back in EVE saying to register, and login in here en masse as another futile "protest".

People have already ruined the fun for a lot of EVE Online™ players by crashing Jita, and now the same might be causing this without the intention of subscribing to the game.

BoyC, if i may suggest, perhaps blocking free-trial accounts for the time being, while you resolve the issue? Just a thought..

I am one of those EVE refugees and let me tell you that I'm not here out of protest. I'm here because I'm looking for a fun game experience without the bitter corporate-y aftertaste and being made to feel like a cash cow to be milked.

I can understand your frustration over not being able to log in (I even share your frustration) but I would ask you not to direct your internet anger at the new guys, even if it is technically our fault for migrating here and revealing a hidden bug in the process (and tbh, get used to it... EVE players are good at revealing hidden dark things). yarr

Also: monocles.

What he said.

A few server issues are no big deal for me. I know that you guys are way more stressed over them then the players are - and you guys (Devs and GMs) being so visible really helps us remember that!

I also was amazed that I was personally convoed by a GM when I first connected to the game that offered me help if I had any issues (which I didn't really have since the tutorial did well at covering the basics).

I'm very much liking my game experience so far.
