... load test was here, lets hope they figure something out fast to make sure, that this will not repeat with the Steam launch.
New players are asked to spend a lot of money, but then they can not play? That might end badly...

... and when they fullfill the ticket, the server will crash again. neutral

Something like this gives you a not so funny feeling about the Steam launch a week from today...

... to ease the server load, all his stuff will be distributed amongst those he crashed. lol

Well, can we please get something on how long the servers will be offline?

New players wont have those mobile teleporters, they start with 20k NIC, that will be used for extensions and ammo, and after that, they have to get NIC through assignments first.
And nobody will threw out 50k for some teleporter, when the first assignments only give back something like 20-40k, and even if you are lucky with reactor plasma drops, you will still have to pay for repairs and new ammo...
Besides the costs for these teleporter, 2u for one teleporter is pretty huge for new players and the robot they can use.

Why even put enemies into those industrial/transport missions?
Just let them have a little bit longer way to cover with some stations to check. Since you dont get anything to shoot (and loot...), and you have a longer journey, this should keep the balance between the industrial/transport and combat missions.

And change the locations of the missions according to their level, meaning, 0 should be right around the corner of the Alpha 1 Terminals somewhere, 1 a little bit farer away, and 2 even a bit more farer away.
Same with 3 and 4 on the Alpha 2 Terminals, 3 is more or less nearer by, to give you an easy start on that island and 4 will be farer away again.

Mentioned it before in another thread, just see the main terminals as center of the island, and all roads and teleports should go from there to the edges/teleports to other islands.
Put along these roads the new locations for missions, and put in some more missions for every island too.

+1 on the idea on giving agressive robots a real purpose, instead of just having them running around and banging anything that comes onto their path.
An npc controlled outpost or factory could add some spice to the rather stale PvE too, gather some friends and see how an attack on those buggers will work out for you, and may be even get some sweet loot... or your *** kicked hard. big_smile

... and you're sure you want this to happen with the Steam launch up and comming this month?
With all those new players running and probably dying all around.
If some smaller fights allready causes some lag, anyone wants to venture a guess, what the extra load of all these information going back an forth between players and servers will cause? lol

Well, then add something extra to the offer, like an extra 43200 EP (one month EP without booster bonus) and 2400 PC, and make clear, that this offer will only be available for the first steam sale.

Everyone waiting will of course later pay less, but will also get less. wink

My guess, without a booster running, every 3 days, like everyone else.

If you link all of them to steam, you would spare some time logging in, you only have to pick the next account from the dropdown list, without having to type in the account name and password every time.

Not sure, that only logging in over the steam account will count for all 14 accounts for the required EP login.

If i use the Steam Client, i have no sounds on weapons and explosions from targets.
No sound problems with the normal client.

+ Standard Medium Autocannon
+ Standard Medium Machine Gun
+ Standard Medium Missile Launcher
+ Torrex-G17 Medium Machine Gun

i'm set with the robots, but still looking for some equipment

If they want to "watch the economy", the first thing they should do, make sure that no multi-boxing is going to work in Perpetuum any longer.
One person with xx bots at his hands, mining or harvesting or "ratting" and no one sees the trouble in there, but instead jumps right onto the ICE? lol
So, just to clear that up, selling accounts for multi-boxing to "print NIC" is good.
But selling ICE to trade for NIC is bad... thats some really fine logic. roll

Perpetuum base game -> Money
Perpetuum Credits -> Money
and thats it atm.
And lets be honest, not everyone might even go for the PC. Which means, all there is, is the money from the game purchase, and that wont last forever.
I suggest you get a store ready asap, so that we can test it and give you feedback on it before the big Steam launch is right upon us.
Add more EP and some PC to those new accounts, so that new players have good reasons to buy the game without testing it, and to get a taste for the EP booster and other things from the store.

ICE -> Money
Bring ICE back into the game, looks like it worked before and there are similar systems working just fine in other games.

The goal should be, give new players an easy way into the game and keep them playing (and paying...) here.

Content of the PC store, mostly usefull items with very few cosmetic stuff, the focus should be on things that are a good help (for example, teleport beacons that work faster and stay longer open, but only work on Alpha Islands) for players.

Just my 2 NIC, new colours for some beloved Mech might float the boat for others, but i want something more or less "real" to spend my money on.

At the moment im only thinking about going green and using some of the industrial robots/mechs, and the industrial part only so far, that i can use the transporter robot to move things from one terminal to another.

39

(4 replies, posted in Q & A)

Thank you for clearing that up, so beside some EP left in extensions i can't reset, there is nothing limiting my agent to use different robots/mechs?

And thank you for the guide, donwloading it right now. big_smile

Is it possible to use any robot/mech with any faction, or is it better to have an extra agent for every faction?

(2 replies, posted in Bugs)

I'm not sure that this is even a bug, since there are a few "industrial" robots that yield no loot on destruction.

I would suggest a better road- and teleport-network, side effect, new players dont have to walk for minutes to reach their assignment points and to get back to the terminal.

As example, take the Alpha/Main terminals as "center", and let the roads go from there to the edges of the island.

I was more thinking along the line, that for every month of gametime, you could add 15k-30k EP to these new accounts.
Like the amount of PC was calculated, just instead of only getting extra PC, you could add some extra EP to it.

Same with the accounts, that will be sold on Steam, up the offer with 3x 15k-30k EP and give those new ones a nice chunk of EP to play with right from the start.
Not to mention, this would ease some minds on the paying before being able to test part... wink

I'm not asking for a conversion of PC to EP. But, the return of ICE wouldn't be bad, just instead of gametime, it would add PC to the account, and the new ICE could be traded over the market like the old ICE was.
I recall something like this from another thread... and i like the idea, but what would you think about this, any chance that we will see ICE back again in Perpetuum?

Not much to do with PC atm, but i guess that will change in the future... smile

TheSecretWorld "GrandMaster Pack", something like an lifetime abo, offers you every month extra "bonus points", that you can spend in the shop for extra thingys or use to buy the newest DLCs.

The same goes with LordsOfTheRingsOnline, if you were so lucky to get an lifetime abo in the past, you will still get points every month, and you can buy expansions with those points.

That should explain, why people expect different things from an "lifetime account".

Reading all this, why not add to the Perpetuum Credits, we received for gametime beyond the end of subscription, and to those that bought or will buy the game some extra EP too?
That would really be a very nice gesture, and the code, that could be used to do that, should allready be in place, just change the PC Setting to EP and let it run?

This would give every new player a better start into the game, and that should also boost the Steam sales a bit. And give you some more time, to offer some more usefull things for PC.
After shoveling around some of the 60k EP i have, and buying one EP booster, there isnt much left to do with the PC i have laying around - or bring back some kind of "ICE" to transfer PC over the market for NIC.

And an other funny thing about all your nonsens, guess what, two weeks ago, first day ingame and fresh from the tutorial island, i got a PM with a recruitment try from a "Saul Goodman". lol

On the one hand talking something about alt characters, but on the other hand trying to get nearly every new arrival or old returner you can get your hands on into your PHM... this really doesnt make a lick of sense at all... i mean, you sure i'm not allready part of PHM right now? lol

Well, i dont care, i have nothing to hide and my offer still stands.

Besides, if i had other characters with the means to do the production and/or transport, i wouldnt bother to ask ingame or here.
And if this is any indication on how you treat new players, then i highly doubt that many other new players allready ingame or from the upcomming Steam release, will stick around for long.

It will take me a few weeks i guess, but at some point i will have enough spare EP to spend on the industrial bots extensions, which makes your comments more or less pointless.

And what exactly would be the "fishy" part here? roll

Write down what you have to offer here or ingame mail, i put up the advert, you deliver the goods and get the money - plain and simple.

I have asked in the Trade and in the General channel several times now, i put up the adverts with some bonus for the delivery, and waited... and waited... and waited... untill i worte it down here. mad
