Is there a time limit before this linking offer expires?

Is there any potential down-side to linking your existing accounts to steam?

Will there be implications for running multiple clients at the same time?

The words "This action cannot be undone." make me slightly nervous.

Nop it's more like Rock (blue) Paper (yellow) Shotgun (green).

Oh and the only reason nobody is whining about the Gropho is because we don't have 40 man gangs that would be able to 1-shot anything from behind cover.

Edit: also most of the problems seem to arise because of stacking bonuses.

I don't think knowing the exact location is game breaking but I would prefer if it wasn't made public.  Then again, I would change just about every intel related feature in the game if I could...

Slightly off topic but...
I remember looking up every hostile player's names while doing sites in faction warfare, in eve, to get an idea of what their fit may be.  Gotta say, it did not make the experience any more fun.
The choice was, wait for a sloooow third party website to load or try to engage blind and feel stupid while fighting rock with scissors.

Also there were a lot more active players back when we had the old system.

The thing I don't like about the new system is how easy it is to keep an outpost away from 100% (full bonus) stability without ever threatening to take it.

Lets cut the devs some slack though, its hard to design a sov system that does everything you want it to do.  CCP is still struggling with it.  Having said that, I still think they are intentionally trolling us with the specimen processing sap big_smile

Sometimes losing a station in eve is as good as losing all your stuff in it.  I don't think the problem is with stuff being destroyed as such.  In fact being able to blow up structures imo is a massive selling point for the game and something that makes the victor feel like they've really accomplished something.  Taking a station in eve is a rather underwhelming experience.

The reason that losing a station in eve doesn't usually seem as scary is that you almost always have a chance to jump your stuff out with a jump freighter/carrier*.  Since realism isn't really important here (we already have reinforce mechanics) perhaps gamma terminals could have a limited safe-storage section.  When the terminal is destroyed, the contents of this storage would be teleported (maybe damaged as well) to another terminal.
Alternatively when a terminal gets blown up, items could be teleported, destroyed or dropped at random.
It seems to me that it would encourage risk taking if people could have lots of stuff out on gamma but not have to risk losing ever-single-thing they have.

*As a side note, eve's cyno mechanic doesn't seem to be something that most players actually like and I am not saying that it's a good thing to copy.

Reasons for fighting depend on the people involved and can be many.
Opportunity for fights to happen depends on game mechanics.

If you are happy with honorable arranged fights then you have to find other people who are into the same thing.
If you like ganking industrials, there has to be enough of a reward for people to be risking their industrial bots out on the field.
If you want to fight for territory, the defenders have to feel that defending is not futile.
If you just want lots of kills, again there has to be some reason for people to be out on the field.

imo the more potential opportunities for conflicts to occur, the less likely it is that game-play will become stale.

But that's exactly the intension of the DEVs - a multiplayer game not a "One player - multiple account" game.

Sorry for being offtopic, had to let it out...

What! but then all the EP i've invested into multiple accounts and all the time spent setting up that multiboxing program would be wasted! I want my money back!

+1 all ewAr have LOS

So I really liked this idea but thought it would make ewar a bit too vulnerable in large fights where there is a lot of long range dps on the field.

On the other hand what makes pvp in perpetuum great is that positioning and terrain is so important.

So the suggestion is to make ewar effects (ECM and suppression) require line of sight for activation but then be applied in an area of effect around the targeted bot or tile (there could be cool looking animation for it eventually).

The idea is that the ewar mech will have to expose itself temporarily but the ewar ability would be more powerful against a clustered enemy.  This may be particularly effective against setups where each player has one or more follow bots supporting their main character.  Conversely, it would reward people who, for example, use spider rsa between different players (rather than just using a follow bot).

But if you could lock up to your maximum module range, what would you do with your remote sensor amplifying alt?  What you speak off would not encourage people to use multiple accounts so it's a big no no.

@Mobios. Can you please summaries your argument? Sorry, English is my second language.

Wait, the game is balanced for a high population?

Edit: there's somebody balancing this game?

Why do you need an ictus to kill any properly fit and skilled green bot?
Why is the Zenith better for ECMing than the Vagabond?
Why do light bots have no function in pvp other than as detector alts?
Why is there no attempt to provide alternatives to the use of follow alts for rsa, repair and energy transfer?
Why is the best place for a nexus always on a follow alt and not your main?
Why do we have mechs that demob from 800m away without line of sight?
Why is it possible to completely wall off islands?
Why is it possible to wall in probes so that they can't be killed (aka why do probes last forever)?
Why is it possible to encase buildings completely in terrain?
Why was armor tanking nerfed when erp was the problem?
Why does the beta island intrusion mechanic revolve entirely around timezone warfare and hour long guarding sessions?
Why are there so many useless but annoying spawns on beta?
Why the *** can you not point your guns at a wall and shoot it unless there is a bot standing behind it?
Why is it that nobody has ever completed the research tree?
Why should industrialts be made to grind spawns for many months before they can produce the modules that are in such high demand?
Why does everything require such ungodly amounts of minerals (i thought we came to Nia for the energy not the matter)?
Why has there never been any advertising for the game?

All these questions and more, pale in comparison with the mystery that is... ceramic bullets wink

Don't like Zenith and Trojar so you want to nerf ALL demob? Hell NO!

Nerf to range... Hell NO!!
Nerf to LoS... Hell NO!!

If there is a balance issue with the bots above, then address those bots. And don't any of you guys use counter E-War on those Zeniths?

The idea is to shorten the range at which demobing happens giving people more chance to move around and shoot things, the most fun fights I have had are the smaller fights where neither side has a demobing Zenith.

This isn't about who uses what, its about trying to create a fun pvp experience.

p.s. if fun pvp isn't one of the aims of this game can a dev please make that clear now so i can stop wasting my time.

Unfortunately there's not much going on in terms of pvp in the game so we have rather limited observations to work with but I don't that's a good reason to stop balancing things.

I've had no trouble putting range extenders on light ewars.

Lights and assaults are not good as tacklers atm anyway.  This change wouldn't make them better at it than ewar lights or ewar mechs anyway.

Suggestion: the range extender module's range bouns should not be applied to L or S-demobilisers

Because, why the hell not?

Imo it would make for more dynamic fights, especially in large engagements where a zenith fit for demobing forces a fight as soon the opposing forces come anywhere near each-other (about 800m if i'm not mistaken).

Also it would also give people more reason to fit the L-demob.

As things stand demobing is a little too easy, you can just use an alt to do it.  (It doesn't help that you can do it in an indestructible trojar or tyranos mk2 but shield balancing deserves it's own thread)

If demobing was more about control and use of terrain than about having a lot of skill points and lots of stacking bonuses from T4 gear, there would be an opportunity for newer players to be effective demobers and participate in fights in a meaningful way.

Combat bot cargo space is still painfully small, imo enlarging it by twofold or more would massively improve the new player experience.

As for us older guys, well we all know this game isn't meant to be played with just one account :S

Mainly active in EU time zone now but welcome players from any tz.

It's not just miners, anyone with a base on gamma would often have to undock into a spawn unless turrets would be allowed to shoot them or the spawns would avoid bases.  Also it would look plain stupid to have an island full of robots just randomly running around.

i said we should have marinated it first...

We are building a shrine for it on gamma
