This is an interesting change... Its purpose seems to be to encourage PvP(given the focus of the game, thats understandable), but in practice I suspect its going to have unintended consequences, much like many changes CCP makes to encourage PvP in EVE.

What, exactly, is everyone so annoyed about? Why make such a big deal over something that's pretty irrelevant? Wouldn't these efforts be much better directed towards something that mattered, like the blobs everyone hates?

Not at all- I was just ignoring your rhetorical retreat in order to drive my point home. To put it in your terms: you might say forums are... harsh.

okay, we get it: tough guy, tough corp, the world's too mean for nice guys, tough rules make it a man's game, you get picked on IRL, so here you're a bada$$, blah, blah, blah.

So you were bottle fed; it's okay, lot's of people are.

Point is: it's still a video game: you're trying to make a distinction that simply doesn't exist.

lol Easily the funniest post of the day. A 'harsh' video game! big_smile

Seriously? Deleting or not deleting cargo is a factor in whether you are an internet tough guy?

Figure what out? Any player sitting in the current save zone of a teleporter is 100% safe. Nothing to figure out.

Thanks, now I see what Neoxx meant about the "no thinking" thing.

Two enemy groups sitting at a teleporter safe zone doing nothing is stupid.

Ah, but one day, someone will figure it out and have a surprise in store- that's a video I'd watch.

Nice summary, Arga!

This really is an interesting idea, and I think it would make for a more exciting dynamic.

I think roaming corps would be able to continue roaming, but they'd have to be prepared to apply overwhelming force at any gate they wanted to use- same as anyone else, really. Reminds me of amphibious landings, fighting for a beachhead.

If this happened, though, I think the clear advantage would fall upon whichever corp was able to mobilize quickly enough to defend or force its way through a gate- so it starts to become more of a logistical question.

In the meantime, would it be possible to develop a 'feint' strategy, i.e. make it appear as if you were mobilizing, but then taking a different route, attacking a different target, or simply not showing up at all? The first two screw up their deployment, the last with their head.

I realize that it would take more time and coordination, but could it be done?

I'm sure you think so.

The character creation is pretty terrible. I honestly would have preferred 20ish pre-rendered (or hand drawn) good looking avatar icons over what is currently the avatar creation. Sure a bunch of people would have had the same avatar icons, but honestly how often do you see player avatars?

No, no, you don't understand: Avatars are the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE Perpetuum has.

Look, a guy who plays games said it, so it has to be true.

Thanks! Always nice to have useful info just a link away.

Oh ur a paid CM and dev that makes your opinions matter more, right?  Good post still, but this made me lol almost as much as the guy demanding respect just because he served in the military.

I agree. It's amazing how anyone who's ever played a game suddenly becomes an expert in every aspect of the industry, from development to marketing.

Even more importantly, they feel a need to tell everyone what their "expert" opinion is, which somehow always predicts the game's failure, especially if the devs/company/marketers don't implement every one of the poster's suggestions.

Wow, you guys are doing a great job!

Thanks Gobla, thanks Ohm!

From the Guide:

Extension points
In Perpetuum, the character development does not depend on completed missions or killed enemies. You automatically get extension points, if you have a valid account. The rate of extension point flow is 1 point/minute, and no matter if you log in and play or not, you will receive points.

Each account owner can create up to 3 different characters, but the extension points stay common. If you spend 100 points out of 1000 on your first character, 900 points remain for all 3 characters to spend.

From the FAQ:

How do I get XP? How do I "level"?
You get one EP (Extension Point) every minute, no matter what you do, even when you are offline. You can spend these points on extensions (skills) in your Agent profile/Extensions window. Read more about this here.

and

Are there any other ways I can get additional EP in the game?
No.

Also, please tell me English is your second language.

See, that's the wrong attitude.

Jelan is poised on the verge of something big here, and you want to go and ruin it by talking about dental hygeine. What's next? Comments about big Hungarian noses, pale, pasty Canadians, or snooty Russians? You won't get anywhere if you keep mentioning things like that.

Why blame them?

If you want to extend your services to other languages, hire some help. That, or be smarter.
