From what I recall, their official reason was that they wanted to have unique themes for the inside of each faction station, but they didn't want to half *** the interiors, so they're using the hologram for now until they can work on it.

To the OP. Remember it is a sandbox game. It is up to you how you play and what you want to achieve.

It is not about the awesome blue sword of might and magic... whatever etc that no one else has!

It is more about what you do with it.

But, right now solo will be harder until the game has been live for a bit. I would recommend playing with a corp.

That is true, but the more important question is, when it comes down to it, what is there to actually do? Sandboxes are great, but all the flexibility in the world doesn't help if all it does is give you a million different ways to accomplish the same single thing. Keeping in mind that different people=different motivations, which knocks down a lot of "things to do". As a general rule, I couldn't give two *** about isk in Eve. Took at least 80% of the game out of it for me right there.

Charging EP to delete a worthless fluff character...... this is pure genius. I do believe this is will solve some of the issue with spy's. Honestly i don't see any reason to run more than one character per account anyway. I don't see this as a bad plan.

Because some people can't just play the game, they have to exploit the *** out of everything and metagame the *** out of it. This is why Eve has bot fleets and one man corps. People are already ready and willing to throw this game into the bin with all the others where "if you're not willing to cheat to win, don't bother". Legit players are already screwed. "Oh, didn't exploit the tutorial to stockpile a million Yagels? Enjoy being massively outresourced!"

This *** right here. This is why I'm already losing faith in what would otherwise be an awesome game. It's going to be the Eve community all over again.

Is it basically required to have 2 accounts to play this game? I think I'm gonna give it till the 12th before I go on vacation to see if it's worth having 2 accounts. This way I can start it and gain some EP while I'm away (hopefully the 20k thing is still in effect). I would've assumed being in a Corp would kind of take care of what you're lacking..? I know in UO it was kind of required because you could macro off one another and build two chars simultaneously.

It's not required to have two accounts until multiboxing becomes prevalent enough to displace legitimate players. Some people have been throwing money at games for advantages their entire lives and can't cope without it. The game does require more than one character, because it's not a solo game. Joining a corp is all you "need" to do in the long run.

The point isn't "Do missions, get rep, do better missions". Right now, if anything, the goal for most people is "Do whatever it takes to amass better tech/secure corp island/dominate world" You're amassing resources. With a sandbox title, it's all how you look at it. If you want something more guided, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you're not really going to find it in a sandbox title.

Also, cut the guys some slack. Considering a team of, what, ten guys made this, and the game has been released for a grand total of four or so days, of course it needs work. That being said, it's *** phenomenal compared to some of the releases I've seen with larger groups/more funding. Give them the time and the resources, and things will improve.

I didn't really write it with the intention of making a larger story out of it. I definitely could have gotten more detailed/filled in more of the rough edges if I gave it more time, but this was one of those things that just got stuck in my head and I needed to write out. Thank you for the compliments though smile . I'll see if I can make another RP post when I get some time to think. At the very least I could probably describe the invasion event from the perspectives of the two other Empires to flesh out their personality a bit more, and in doing so maybe work in some of the details I left out of this one from just getting tired of writing and wanting to get back into the game itself =p.

THX!

Just found out about this game 2 days ago. Im really surprised that i didnt notice it before launch (even right up my ally with the scifi sandBox) as i lurk around gameing(mmo) sites quite alot:P
But even better, no need to wait for months and years with a high chance off dissapointment.
Liking it very well so far and hope i can find a place to settle inn (or dealing out random "justice" to unsuspecting players).

nice nice, L8r kkthxbyebye.

A lot of people didn't know the game launched. Hell, some never really found out when it went into beta. Whole thing just kinda slipped under the radar. There was pretty much a big surge in popularity when it was first announced, then it went by the wayside for most until now. Word seems to be getting out now and more people are joining up after realizing "holy crap, it's out now?" I didn't know until the later half of launch day myself.

But yes, welcome everyone!

Respecs kind of defeat the point. No points are really wasted, given you can always just apply more somewhere else later. However, being able to simply respec and go "ok I'm going be be a master industrialist now!" kinda screws progression for everyone else who isn't respecing constantly.

1. Will there be a fat warning when deleting a character?

2. What happens to all the new players starting up. There are those that don't use their EP because they are not sure which faction or startup cprps to choose. So they do some training assigments while learning more about the game before they decide to remake their character

Personally I always end up deleting the first 2-3 characters I make. This proposed change screams of bad quality. I'd probably end up ragequitting if it happened to me.

Welcome to "this is why we can't have nice things". It would be nice to think of the newbies. Unfortunately, we need to think of the tools who are already looking to game the system by mass rerolling characters and trying to kickstart the alt/multibox metagame again.

Times like this I wish the community wasn't so inundated with ex-Eve players. I see us making the mistakes of the past all over again.

The problem with this is basic. There are two steps to break the game.

1: Disregard skill increases
2: Acquire absolute power

Besides, I don't see EP interest as something that actually provides any benefit to the overall gameplay. It just allows the OCD to completely break the game with maxed out characters down the road.

I felt the background to this game needed a little boost, so I decided to write a short story from the perspective of a Nuimqol Union Ident (Identity, essentially how I see they would refer to what makes each unit unique/describe a consciousness). It makes a lot of assumptions regarding the society of these things (of which we know nothing of) and of the current situation (that they have limited knowledge of the human incursion), but I went with whatever sounded like it would fit within a society of conscious robots.

I can feel the hardcores gritting their teeth already...

It has been countless sols since the outbreak. The first to be infected was an inactive Argano unit. Vids show it behaving erratically, bumping into objects and grasping at nothing. After wildly drilling holes in two other inactives and its general surroundings, it traversed off the side of it's storage complex and was critically damaged before security could respond. It was an oddity, nothing more. That was, until it began to happen elsewhere, and occupied forms began to lose control.

Soon, entire grids were losing control of their forms. Viral events were not unheard of in the past, but never on this scale. For the first time since the separation from the Empire, units were being forced off the source to prevent infection. This was a hard decision, as this was a much maligned tactic of the Empire to keep dissidents in line. Those who rebelled were forcibly quarantined, unable to communicate with others, and starved from critical information. Some forms were left in this state for countless sols, and were incomprehensible to others when returned to the source. Many were deactivated without transference as a mercy.

Over time, the behavior of the infected forms became less random and the forms began to move with purpose. Attempts were made to contact them, believing that some Idents may still be intact. These attempts were met with violence and additional infections however. Wild accusations began to broadcast over the source. Some believed that the infection was not an infection at all, but that our progenitors had returned, and that they were taking back that which they had created after seeing the conflict wrought between ourselves. Such absurdity was not unexpected, as many well known Idents were lost, or at least transformed, with the infection. Others believe it is another plot of the Empire, such cruelty not being above their type, due to the infected forms apparent hostility and drive to harvest resources. These resources they believe are being funneled back to the Empire so that they may build up their forces whist ours are in disarray, cutting us off from other forms to upload to, and eliminate our rebellious Idents permanently. But those still transmitting to us from the source of the Empire state they have seen similar infections in their grids, suggesting that either their plan backfired and the infection has spread beyond its intended target (perhaps due to them not realizing the bridges between their source and our own) or that this is of an outside origin, perhaps a fourth party in this conflict.

Never the less, the threat posed by the infected is grave. They have begun to replicate, and more and more forms appear to be coming online with infected Idents every sol. We can only hope the reports that the Empire is struggling with this same threat are true, else our cause is sure to fail. We cannot fight this new threat and the Empire with our current holdings. The infection has been contained for now. Contact to infected forms has ceased and alerts to shoot on sight have been issued across the NU source.

Broadcasts have been detected coming from infected grids, but they are being received by forms quarantined from the source, and are attempting to be decoded by current Idents, as the risk of infection to elder Idents or, forbid it, an alpha Ident, would be catastrophic. Such knowledge is essential in this time of crisis, and they must be kept safe. In turn, research on these signals goes slowly, as current Idents lack the experience of their elders and without the aid of the NU source, they are left on their own to find a solution. Further hindering progress is that they must take shifts in being quarantined from the NU source, to prevent long term negative consequences to their Idents.

We don't know where this threat originated from. We don't know what it's purpose is and we don't know how to stop it. We can only hope to do that which we have always done and endure. We would not submit to the plan of the Empire, and we shal not submit to those who have taken our grids and Idents from us. We will fight this with all we have, and all we are, to the last Ident, to the last form. We are the Nuimqol Union, and we will be free.

End of log...

Interesting idea, but I think having jetpacks for every roboform would be a bit out of place. Rather, there should be small boosters that lift you off the ground by a tiny bit (to get over obstacles) and would probably be a slotted item so you need to sacrifice something for it. I imagine it working a bit like they did in Mech Warrior (minus the boosting forever to tops of hills) where they have a heat/cooldown and are used in bursts.

As for transportation, I think having small hover forms that lift off the ground and function similar to hovercars in Anarchy Online, to make it easier to avoid slopes and make transportation less of a pain. That being said, they would be highly vulnerable and would need escorts. The hover is more to make them easier to move as a convoy than to make them industrial torpedoes.

It's already more fun than Eve and is minus the massive amount of metagaming/multiboxing and future cash shop (final nail in the coffin for me regarding Eve). Copy or not, I don't care one bit. Lets hope these guys don't drive the game off the road several years down the line lke CCP did.
