Topic: Lasers, EM, Missles...? What does What?

Alright I was curious what the main bonus is for skilling up these main faction weapons.  I know Lasers have the longest Range, and Missiles can arc over obstacles (small ones) So what do EM Guns do?  And is there any other unique bonuses to the different weapons?
