Topic: How about unclear icon when it behind obstacles(terrain)?

I use game in low graphics usage, so I have many problems to see anything in battlefield. So when you use low graphics hard to see who is behind obstacles (I mean first terrain, if can plants), and who not, thats important when you close (100-400 m) to these enemies.

IF anybody behind obstacles the main icons what show what bot is, +: light, and so on may looks like a little bit shadowy or pale.


If that can implement into the game that will easier to do something for me, and most important all of Perpetuum players if I right.

If you see any problem with that idea write it.

This idea is a little different from a LOS indicator but at the end of it yes it could be seen as one.

It would be nice if the icons scaled for distance as at long range it's impossible to see the terrain around the robot you're trying to shoot unless you toggle the icons on and off very quickly.

Z-Buffer on overlay icons = win

especially when you use some fancy 3D googles, the "overlay" nature of the GUI becomes very apperant.

The pictures show the problems, I cant see anything exactly in that place for 200-800 m.

With more EP, ranges are getting longer and longer for fits.

I have to agree with the problem here. I can lock and shoot out much further then my screen displays obstacles.

The only indication that I'm missing is the combat log.

An LOS indicator isn't necessarily the correct solution, that's maybe too powerful. Is the draw distances/plant size issues dealt with using the new graphics?

i think it has been said before.

first i think its not desired by the devs.

but the real issue is the lag.
you move and you lag and your enemy moves and lags.
only the server knows when you have a clear line of sight. when you have a clear signal and fire and when the information is running between all the persons that are involved and then back to you, it may already be too late and you will hit the obstacle and then you cry even more.

i dont think we need this. get used to it. its a game. not everything has to be perfect clear.

that's not really the point, fog of war is fine.

The game mechanics allow me to lock at shoot at 700m, but the graphics engine prevents me from using it effectively.

If the game can't support long range fits, then they shouldn't be in the game.

Just to be clear again, I think LOS indicators would be OP. The only thing I can think of is the game engine renders plants around players at a distance, not ONLY when they block, but not all the plants. Or have a special low-res plant option you can turn on, that puts 'ghost' plants on the terrain.

Of course, if your a green pilot, then whatever, and blue is short range high damage, so it basically only effects Sniper Seths and Long range ewar. As more fits become availble for distance, this is going to be an issue, and already is for snipers.

Today when I saw some fights again on youtube, the FC-s also was confused you can shoot that target or not, so it would help a players to decide where is the enemy. If behind in your line of sight at least about hills, it would be lightened or soemthing.
