Topic: Improvements in Missionsystem

I would like to see some improvements to the mission system.

1.) Player offered missions. In special transport and kill missions. Could allow players to hire squads for pvp events. Could allow players hire other players for mining ops.

2.) Missions that are acceptable at all terminals, in special kill missions without the need to drop loot boxes. Why would you need to accept it at the one and only terminal?

3.) More missions, maybe something like ESCORT Missions. Escort NPC x to target location y. Would be best suited for squads, maybe even only acceptable by squads. One could boost/rep/shield the npc, others could defend it. Source and destination could be random or at least a few different.

More different stuff for solo players or small groups! Maybe some easy stuff that gives little reward but at least is entertaining and as such doable for hours.

Re: Improvements in Missionsystem

№1 doesn't really need any special implementation - right now you can use, says, trade channel for that. only thing that maybe needed imho - it's some kind of billboard in terminals.

№2 i believe it's for, you know, force people to move - cuz if you can accept every mission in same terminal, it will be too easy and boring and hard to balance reward system. maybe im wrong

№3 before such npc escort missions we need to make some npc wars first - in other case who will attack that npc you escorting, and what for?

Have a productive day, Runner

I have already suggested it a long time.

Re: Improvements in Missionsystem

I know these Ideas ain't new. I actually posted similar thoughts already 2 months ago short after release.

@Line: You actually need to move to the npc spot and get back to any terminal anyways. But why would you need to travel from one half of an island to the other and back. That not only makes it more dangerous (which I would support) but also time consuming and less rewarding (which I don't support). On Alpha it is even less of an risk and only time consuming to the biggest part.

Regarding the NPC Escort Mission: of course you would need scripted NPC Spawns that attack your escorted NPC ;-) Or let it be from one faction and run it through some part of an island where NPCs from other factions are located and let them start shooting at NPCs from the other factions. Escort Missions on beta would always have the additional risk of players getting involved ;-)

This requirement is so they have a way to measure the time it takes to the reward.

They know where you are starting from, the distance to the mobs, so it will take you at least X mins of travel time both ways + kill time = Total approx. time to complete multiplied by X NIC per minute.

Allowing players to pickup assignments anywhere and get the reward on completion would break the formula.

An example: Combat missions are 15 Mins of travel (round trip) + 5 mins of kill time for 98K (your timing may vary) or about 300K per hour. This is about the same as you can make with transport missions. Remove the round trip travel time and you can complete it in 12 mins instead of 20 minutes and the next mission may only be a few minutes from the remote spot, but regardless, you should be able to complete 5 mission per hour now vs. 3, a 200K per hour increase. Plus faster reputation.

If they wanted players to earn 40% more per hour, they could just raise the rewards for all mission by that much.

Personally, I think the level 2 and above combat missions are designed to be done by squads, because they are really difficult solo; not impossible, just not tuned to solo player. And if your in a squad, you split the NIC, so maybe have 'bonus' NIC added for each additional player in the squad, to encourage grouping up.

TLDR; Missions could use some looking at for base NIC, but removing location requirements would make them harder to keep balanced.

... Snip!

Experience from other games shows that even in "tried and tested" situations, the limited ability of an A.I. to cooperate with a player and let itself be escorted, leads to endless frustration. If the npc escort missions arrive we'll quickly see "No don't go that way stupid robot!" on chat channel on a regular basis.

I want an autopilot so I can chat while I travel. http://forums.perpetuum-online.com/topi … -a-review/ THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
