Why dumb down the game?  Only 6 islands silly.  Stop trying to add EVE features.  Eve had over 5000 star systems....it was needed.  Not here for the lazy.

Only 6 islands at the moment. In case you are unaware, there will be more in the future. There are already 24 stations, and I can see that number easily topping 50-75 within a year or so. As for adding EVE features, one of the more important goals in creating a successful MMO in an already established genre is to implement the applicable features that work well in your competitors products, and improve upon those that do not.

Every MMO borrows useful features from other games in their genres. Your post about it being lazy really provided no actual detriments inherent within this feature. If you can think of realistic disadvantages, aside from your personal feelings about laziness, I would be more than happy to hear them.

I don't think continuous respecs are a good idea, nor what this poster was suggesting, thereby eliminating the 'flavor of the month' following. I do, however, believe that a one time respec be given to new characters who may make choices before fully understanding them. This respec should only be available for a week after character creation, simply to help reduce the frustration and potential cancellation of new players.

Most of us have gamed for years and understand the pitfalls of bad character creation decisions and can live with them just fine. However, players unfamiliar with this type of game, or MMOs in general, may not be prepared for the inability to correct a mistake that was made when they were still learning the ropes.

I read an article somewhere that said the average MMO has an opportunity lasting less than a day to convince a new player to stick with it. A little kindness towards those who are trying out this product and deciding whether or not to continue subscribing to it will do wonders to help you capitalize on that small window of opportunity.

I understand, and personally enjoy, the sandbox environment. It just seems that many veteran players now equate 'sandbox' with a hardcore, no mistakes allowed, 'deal with it' mentality. Sandbox means 'here's a world, do what you want/can with it.'

If anyone can give a reason as to which detriments of a 1-week respec would outweigh the benefits, I'd love to hear them. How does doing this negatively affect you as a player, the other players, or the game world in general?

I've already listed the benefits, and I'm pretty sure we can all agree that impressing a new subscriber, and welcoming them, rather than alienating them or chastising them for not having researched their career path ahead of time, is an important goal to have. Even using a planner and being meticulous may not be enough.

I personally had a character planned out weeks in advance, which I had tuned several times. Then I got into the game, trained him, and after two days realized that, while effective, I just plain hated the way the character played. It didn't suit my style. Luckily I had already researched this game and committed to it. Most newcomers won't have done so.

I can confirm this. I'd say about 1/3 of the time, when teleporting to beta islands, I teleport outside of the safe area. Luckily I have no problems zooming over to the safe zone, but someone who loads slower might get killed before they are able to finish loading.

Unless I'm missing an obvious button, one thing that this game is lacking is an assets button, so I can see what I have stored at other stations.

I agree with this, these particular icons are difficult to see when there are a bunch of players nearby.

He's talking about containers you buy in your private storage. They do not remember their last position when closed and reopened.

I agree with this suggestion.

This was tested on a Mech (Kain Firestorm 1st Star) on the island of New Virginia. There is one lone Mech on the eastern part of the island.

The problem with killing this mech is that its armor repair kicks in around 60%-75% and is impossible to beat with my castel. However, I noticed that if I engage the mob until it starts repairing, then run away until it loses lock, and finally re-engage, it will not attempt to use the armor repair again.

As I have only tested this tactic against this one spawn, I cannot comment as to whether or not it works against other armor repair mobs. However, I am drawn towards the assumption that this is a bug in the AI, rather than with this one particular spawn.

I know that you can click on a tab to monitor all of your personal buy/sell orders. However, when I look at all of the buy/sell orders for a particular item, it would be greatly beneficial to have your own highlighted in some manner for quick comparisons, rather than having to jump back to the tab over and over for each item. One quick look and I can see if anyone is outbidding me, and by how much.

I try not to compare too much to EVE, but Perpetuum has a very similar market, and it always irritated me in EVE that I couldn't do this.

I really agree with this idea.

I agree with these suggestions, especially the 'mulligan' or what have you for the first week. You learn so much in that small period of time, and it's difficult to make an informed decision with so little exposure to the games mechanics.

New players may feel put off if they decide they hate the weapon type they chose and wasted their whole first week on something they'll never use again. Even more so as they have to see that mistake every time they open their extension page.

It goes without saying that newbie friendliness is very important to hook those who might only give your product a few days or weeks chance to impress them.

I fully support this feature request.
