Let it grow on gammas as the common plant, with no player interaction, really. That will increase gamma reward too.

Buffing noralgis on gamma is a good idea. The problem i can see is if people just go to gamma briefly to ninja noralgis as it grows there naturally, it doesn't add an incentive to live there. Maybe instead of growing by itself, noralgis should grow better on gamma. More cycles, faster regrowth rate, % chance to spread and create new plant nearby.

That seems like it would make the most sense, except perhaps the devs are worried that reducing the range of the high tech turrets invalidates the extra cost/research to make them instead of advanced turrets?

To me the idea of being able to insta-pop anyone who jumps onto your island is a little worrying, and expanding the no build zone around the TPs seems like the best solution. Just a shame that it wasn't figured out before the patch really hmm

Besides that, i did have one idea whilst listening to the conference. And it's not fully fleshed out so i expect it to be shot down immediately smile ;

What if you could choose to put your buildings into a sort of 'protected mode' similar to the reinforced mode. Whilst in protected mode buildings cannot be harmed, but they also cannot be used by the owner corp. So if a corp has a timezone with very low playerbase they can put the buildings into protection during that time, and sleep soundly. Obviously there would have to be several limits on the use of protection mode:

1) You can have a building in protected mode for a maximum amount of time (say 24h) and there is a cooldown before it can be used again, either a fixed time (12h?) or proportional to the amount of time it was protected last (50%?)

2) It takes an amount of time to activate/deactivate (30mins or something)

3) Whilst protected ALL functions of a building stop working. So you would be locked out of a protected main terminal and unable to mine with a protected mining tower. I'm not too well versed in how each gamma structure works so this may be impossible. I'm just spitballing here tongue

Basically it would mean that corporations could avoid being alarmclocked and could have a chance to defend on their own terms. They could sleep easy knowing their base will still be there when they wake up.

Anyway there are probably a million problems with what i just said, so fire away smile

It's what he would have wanted.

We also run extra-curricular PVP ops occasionally. As of last night, we are the first Corp to successfully breach a fortified gamma! Come join the "RPS" channel if you are interested.

False, CIR did to yours but you were the first the grow enough khahones to attack ours so props.

They were somewhat different feats however, as our base was never fortified. Not trolling or anything, just saying the impressive part of Mqx's 'extra curricular' pvp was getting through the defenses, which was not something you had to worry about with ours lol.

Ah Okay. Yeah now that i think about it constantly calculating the gradient each robot on the server is travelling at, and figuring out whether it's up or down (or more likely some crazy diagonal) would probably not be the easiest thing in the world. Shame though, could've been interesting.

EDIT: Maths wise i wonder if something along these lines might work: (Purely hypothetical)

Percentage Speed boost = -(dh/dt)(k)

(Where h is height, t is time and k is some constant to modify it to a usable number)

So i just had this as an idea, not sure whether or not it would be good so i thought i'd ask and see what people thought;

What if the gradient of the terrain had an effect on the speed your robot moved at? I.e. Going up a steep slope makes you slower, and down one makes you faster? Not by a lot, but by a small amount, proportional to how steep the gradient is. So going down a gentle hill could give you a +1% speed boost, whilst going up a very steep hill could reduce your speed by maybe -5%.

Personally i think it would add an extra strategic and tactical element to the game: A gang leader would need an awareness of terrain to minimize the gangs movement times and be most effective in PVP. It would add extra high ground advantage, as you could engage faster than the enemies attacking up the hill and making good decisions about where to engage an enemy could limit their ability to run away.

However for industrial players it would probably be annoying, so perhaps the effect could be much less pronounced on robots with wheels/catterpillar tracks than those with legs?

Anyway just a thought, curious to see what other people think. Obviously it could be a huge technical challenge to implement and therefore not be worth the time.

I would say, its a miner code, to clean up after yourself.
If you don't like to find tiny spots, you don't leave tiny spots behind.
If everyone would follow this guideline there shouldn't be any problem.

As for griefing... there are numerous and way more exciting ways of griefing than mining for hours to leave a spot behind... smile (but you always surprise me cool )

This would work except first time miners/casual miners won't have 100%+ scan accuracy and therefore cannot be expected to mine the whole field perfectly

Statecorp would be more than happy to welcome you in if you are interested; We're a relatively new corp, with people involved in both pvp combat and industry, largely capitalist. Friendly guys, not too much smack talking and few bitter veterans tongue

If you're interested jump into the 'rps' channel ingame, or message me, 'mqx' or 'a delicate balance'

Regards,
Gemara, Statecorp

StateCorp is a fairly young corporation with many newer players (2012 onwards) as well as a couple of longer standing ones, and a friendly, civilized atmosphere. Mainly EU presence - lots of UK players - with a US TZ contingent as well. Always happy to take on new players and help them get to grips with the game, but equally happy to welcome returning vets who are interested in trying out a fresh-faced corp. Plenty of room for committed players to move up the ranks to a leading role.

We run regular pvp ops, as well as doing Pve, and for those interested in industry we have a tight knit group of indy guys who work for profits but are still willing to help each other out.

If you're interested jump into the 'rps' channel in game or message 'A Delicate Balance', 'mqx' or myself in game or on these forums. All skill levels welcome, including trial accounts.

We look forward to shooting with you! (or at you wink)

Gem, Statecorp

Unfortunately the video is cut short by my untimely death.

I also have a whole bunch of other videos that i may sift through and mould into some discernable form in the future...

Really? Imagine of all the telporters were called like TX-112, GH-499 etc. etc. and then imagine trying to remember which one got you from one island to the next, and which one you came out at.

Wheras remembering that you go to Galoly-belil to get up to Blaha I then walk to Blaha II to get to Koryosk then you run to koryosk internal and jump to ursels internal then run to the new crimea outpost to ninja mine some of RG's epriton, just seems far more natural to me tongue

I just like the funky names i guess. Galoly-belil is my favourite smile

I really like the strange names, they give the islands and places character, and make it easier to remember where things are etc. Much more interesting than just number/letter combinations.

Perhaps this should be in the Balancing subforum?

But i also agree, i just got into my first mech, only to be informed i was basically cannon fodder because i'm a blue pilot -.-

+1 this sounds cool

+1 to Arga's post, that really is the fairest way to do it, without sacrificing the risk/reward element.

Nicely explained too smile

Thank you smile. Haha but what would a forum be without the trolls?

Just bought 180 days so expect to see me around, making good my investment! smile

Hi, just a really small request:

It would be really good if there was a single hotkey that could be pressed to toggle the visibility of all open windows + hud elements (health/accumulator bars and modules).

Just to make screenshots a lot easier and safer during combat.

Also, first forum post, so Hello!
