Topic: INDUSTRY CHANGES - Please read before posting production related bugs!

To keep it short: you may have already heard rumors about this, we're going to change the whole production system soon.

This will affect the patent/license system, engineering, factory and extensions tied to these features.

So please do not post bugs related to these as it's going to change anyway.

Gathering and processing of natural resources (scanning/mining/harvesting/refining) will be unaffected.

Can we have a bit of a heads up, some of us have put a few ep's into this path. I personally liked the Patent/License mechanic. It was a nice change from some of the other games I have seen. You could own the patent and sell/give licenses. -V

Wow. Interesting. I like the general concept.

One of the things I thought of was back when I played Asheron's Call and they'd introduce a new item. They'd say it was in the game, but then it would be up to players to figure out how to make it. The big difference here is that each player is going to have to figure this stuff out on their own whereas there, if a player figured it out, he could post it up and everyone could then make it (given sufficient skills).

hmm, i wonder how you will do the balancing on the stats of player made named prototypes.

if im right, to keep the production of named equip up, i always have to reverse-engineer the last build item and create a new calibration programm out of that.

and other player can reverse enginier my protoypes and produce them of their own, but will keep their original name?

No there will be no player made named items. Everyone will produce the same named items that we have currently.
