Topic: New content balancing
#YOLO
So we know your facing issues with art and making new bots and mechs but rather than spending time ruining ewar or whatever else Alf has in mind can we have a good look at some existing mods and bots to generate the new stuff that's so lacking.
First thing - retask mk 2 bots.
Make mk 2 bots role specific instead of a better version of something that exists. Give them specialised roles in relation to their class and this will change PvP dramatically.
Second thing - rebalance the gun class
They are underused significantly in relation to their contemporaries and while they have limited uses a rebalance of them would add another interesting class of weaponry in the game
Third thing - end game industry
I would change priorities so that guns are more difficult to get research for, ofc refunding the points already spent. I would add the mk 2 prototype ability to all bots so you can spend kernals to research the mk 2 bot or mech so that you may if you wish prototype them and make a CT. This will give end game industrialists something to PVE for in order to complete their research tree.
Fourth thing - Retask proto bots and mechs
Perhaps you could retask prototype bots and mechs so that they have the current mk 2 stats thereby not losing content (and since nobody uses proto bots / mechs currently).
Fifth thing - Retask prototype modules
Currently proto modules are rarely used in PvP and this could be changed with some tweaks to proto bonus' in relation to their t4 counterparts. Give them an additional boost and start to see them more in PvP making loot drops juicier and PvP more cost effective (particularly as that balance shifted with the advent of mk2).
So thats a bunch of things Alf could do with his time that would add a lot of real content to the current dynamic making the game more interesting for vets and new people alike. It would give us effectively a whole new class of Mechs and weapons alongside some interesting reasons to keep doing PVE and industry. I think that all of those changes are just a matter of balance and is very coding light so should be easy to implement and give the community something to argue about and test.
Communication:
This is key (as always) and these changes should be staged with the mk2 - specialised change happening in a Summer Expansion planned with Gamma with the other changes happening each month until the Winter expansion comes bringing along the long planned mission system change.
