Topic: my perp crits too often!

sometimes it crits when i jump, but anyway there is no possibility to make it live till morning, it crits right in 30mins after i am gone to afk D:. tried minimized windowed mode, tried minimized fullscreen. after crash it shows me 2 or 3 same little VC++ crit windows with red&white cross and store no mdmp to perp folder. what should i do to check it out and fix it?
other games have no issues

Re: my perp crits too often!

If the error messages have any text then a screenshot would likely help.

A Virtual C++ crash could be cause by graphics drivers or incompatible hardware.

Make sure all your drivers are up to date.

Re: my perp crits too often!

i'm sure 6.14.12.9610 ForceWare is pretty much up-to-date for my GeForce 7900GS. trying to repeat crash condition right now.
BTW, perp log finishes with something interesting in these crashes:

Re: my perp crits too often!

The Perpetuum client does a lot that the logs won't show.

Sadly, with this issue you'll have to wait for devs response as I am not sure what parts of the client utilise Virtual C++ calls.

As a side note, that's a very 'old' graphics card. It could be an incomparability issue with the way the weather effects are drawn, but like I said there is a lot going on that doesn't get output to the log files.

Actually that driver is more than TWO years old. So yeah, please update. (We're at 6.14.13.3523 or otherwise known as 335.23)

Re: my perp crits too often!

the last ForceWare version for this chip is 307.83 (6.14.13.783) which i have installed./
The error: http://savepic.net/5396699.htm (same 3 windows)
at 5:38 ago the perp window (fullscreen) was collapsed, then at 5:07 it crashed. dunno if 3 errors I got at same time or in stretched time. No record in perp.log

Re: my perp crits too often!

What's your config?

[14:15:15] <Freya Sabbat> ...Dear god, the Devs are as bad as us

Re: my perp crits too often!

it do not crits when in not collapsed borderless window. and crits again sometimes when i jump in terminal, but with one crit message.
Garg, what do you need exactly?
im on 7900GS on 6.14.13.783 on NT 5.2.3790 Service Pack 2 on Gigabyte EX58-UD5 on i7 920

Re: my perp crits too often!

Not sure if this is the problem (could be), but do you keep that WinXP updated? (Judging by it being still on SP2 I have a hunch that it's not likely.)

So maybe you could try this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884538

you are playing on Windows Server 2003 ?

is probably why you are having problems. hmm

Re: my perp crits too often!

OMG! Win XP died last month no program/game can support anything running on this OS, and wtf is crits?

Re: my perp crits too often!

ya yaa blahblahblah... heard all this somewhere... everything runs perfectly. if you dont know what this system is, plz do not post uncorroborated blame on this. lets start from what causing this problem

That's what I was pointing at basically, something in your OS smile

No game developer can support an OS that not even the OS developer supports. But they are good and still helping you. smile

Re: my perp crits too often!

was support for "windows server 2003" already stopped?
look, he is not using XP. that version number he posted is windows server.

that aside, i would still bet on incompatible grafics.

It is XP guys, just look at the screenshot smile But that's not really the point here. Well it is, but you get my point.

No, the the 7900GS is fine from a pure minimal requirement standpoint. Speed is a different topic...

On another note, why do you still recommend win xp on your minimum system requirements?

"recommended", and "minimum" is a different story

The VC++ is too old on the old OS. He could try to update the VC++ runtime manually. Other possible solution is to go back to an older video driver (Guru3d still lists them). Best solution = new OS.

Slightly newer OS.

Re: my perp crits too often!

huh. it crits even with not collapsed borderless window, but in 2 hours after i went afk. now with 2 error screens!

Im sure you can bootleg win 7 by now or even 8 ... FYI when a manufacturer stops supporting one of its products and you still use it .. use it at your own risk .... Just sayin.

Euripides ~ Ten soldiers wisely led will beat a hundred without a head.

you surely whine a lot for someone demanding help in a very ungrateful manner.
just sayin.
