Topic: Cannot log in.

My client is stuck at the connecting screen. It will connect to dataserver, then after hanging on connecting it will try to reconnect and start the process over again.  I tried reinstalling with no change. Any suggestions?

I could login just fine with your character now, so it must be something on your end.
My tip would be a firewall issue, are you using one beside the windows firewall? A router perhaps?

My windows firewall is off and I can ping the game servers just fine. My computer is plugged directly into my modem. No router/hub etc. I do live on an overseas base in japan, is it possible some traffic is getting routed funny? It was working fine earlier this week.

Email sent. It looks like the trace's are good. I'm not sure why It keeps resetting the connection though.

So I just installed PO on my laptop, and the same problem exists. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Success! Turns out that its my ISP and/or traffic relating to the ISP. I tethered up my iPhone and it works perfectly fine on my 3g connection.

Have you tried using the VPN as per the guide here?

Wow, that works pretty good! Thank you for that link! It's interesting though that this problem only developed in the last week, possibly since the last patch?

If this only affects you then the logical conclusion would be that some network routing changed near you. A bad patch would affect everyone in the game.

Well it has affected me badly, lost my Pudhauler account cannot login and now my Pudhucker account cannot login to dataserver, uninstalled and tried to install a fresh installation got  "error cannot connect to data server"

Very frustrated

About 9 hours ago it did the same thing to me, I waited 2 hours and I could log in, I think it had something to do with the internet.

If it says "error cannot connect to data server" then your account doesn't even matter since the authentication would come only after that. It would say the same thing if you would unplug your network cable, so the explanation is pretty much the same as my post above.

When mine went south last night I could connect to the test server and forums fine.

The test server is still in Budapest so that's entirely possible and indicates a routing issue to Amsterdam.
