Topic: Random roaming groups

An hour ago (about 23:45 this night) i had the problem, that a random roaming group just appeared next to me and within seconds my bot was down. There was absolutely nothing i could do against it (no fighting, no running). I was fighting the 3st Star blues there -> not afk or something like that.
I dont know if the just spawned there... or "lag appeared"...whatever but within the time i thought "aeh so many reds...what the f..."i was down and the work of weeks gone (Seth with a lot of T4 equipment). Yes..dont pilot something you cant afford to loose, but it shouldnt be ok when you cant do anything against it (no failure, no pvp kill, no afk and so on).

I can hardly believe that it is meant to work this way with the roaming spawns.

Re: Random roaming groups

Yep. Life is a cruel thing.
The main idea of npc roaming group that is random spawning point. Also you can have PvP on beta island in any time. PO world now designed in a way of random ingame activity, so you can loose your bot when you really dont want it. Its awesome IMO, because with this stuff PO much closer to real world than WoW-o-Clones with resurecting and static mob positioning.
To fight with your sadness just think in the next way: "Each my undocked bot is dead. It will dead in distant or non-distant future".

Re: Random roaming groups

They should have those groups spawn and then have a short period (1min max) where they will not aggress unless fired upon. Deaths by failure/pvp, sweet. Death by random algorithms/NPC lottery, not so sweet.

So every 1 meter you run there should be a 1% chance of your bot exploding?

A random group coming towards you I have no problem with, but it shouldn't spawn on top of you and insta kill you while there is nothing that can ever be done against this.

remember, someone asked for dropship or random entry point when teleporting to beta island.
imagine a group of player would spawn ontop of you...

Re: Random roaming groups

IMO PO should have some probability of case when you could do nothing against cruel death.

Re: Random roaming groups

The current form of roaming 'Grand Observers' works exactly like this, appearing at a random place, random time and thus can cross an Agent's way.

Re: Random roaming groups

looks like also minerals (at least HDT) work like this nowadays
2k meters in 1 hour...that HDT was in a hurry roll

Nothing to say against that, but the game mechanic behind it should have some kind of timer for movement, attacking and can be attacked after they spawned.

The way i experienced it, gives me the impression of an semiprofessional / not finished / not well-reasoned implementation.

Re: Random roaming groups

npc login trap for you!

Because of....?

- to have an own opinion / feeling about 0.01% of game content not beeing well implemented?

-  unworthy touching and heretically writing about the holy golden sheep of Perpetuum ( or at least 0.01% of it)?

Its so dreary and senseless....i can hardly believe that i made a post  (and even wrote replies).

Re: Random roaming groups

*** happens.  Moar tears plix.

Re: Random roaming groups

NPC's spawning on your face should happen at the end of the fight, not the beginning... all the porn says so.

Re: Random roaming groups

Seeing you are x-23 i assume you have been insured.

Re: Random roaming groups

It is unfortunate they can randomly spawn on top of players.  That doesn't make a lot of sense unless it's mean to mimic a teleporter.  I always thought that the roaming mobs spawned at random locations (preferrably out of sight of players) and then wandered about in search of trouble.

It seems that randomly spawning the roamers somewhere away from players (1 km) wouldn't take a lot of effort (in general anyway--obviously the entire path of the roam could be blanketed with players in which case somebody's going to die when they spawn.)   Is the roaming spawn meant to mimic a teleport?

At the very least, the time delay after spawning and before aggressing seems like a reasonable idea.

Re: Random roaming groups

they are meant to spawn... randomly.

see them as dropship troopers of the npc faction.
They are also meant to attack the players, not to run away.
