The newbies are far less optimistic.

And yes. The game is low budget.
The problem is that it shows early. And it shouldn't.

Keep in mind that the Majority of games today is mostly shiny gfx with shallow content (I'm looking at you FPS genre.) and kids these days will more often than not. Sadly. Ask "does it look good?" before "Is it fun".
While sad, also reality.

I'm very shiny object oriented. I pay top dollar for all my computer equipment and keep up with latest products, so I want games to keep up with the times. This DirectX 9 bullshit bugs me and the avatars I agree are horrid.

Apart from this game being like a cell phone version of EvE I don't know if I am coming back to the game. Just quit a few days ago, but I am still checking the forums and news updates for info and I will continue to gain EP during my absence, but for now this game has so much potential, but I kind of feel like it did the FFXIV thing and came out too early.

This game to me is like playing a Sandbox RPG without a story line. Without any real sense of accomplisment from doing anything other than PvP. The missions are real dull. I mean can we please get away from the grind fest? It has been like a decade long of grind fest PvE style gameplay. Go kill 10 of these collect 5 of these from those. SSDD.

Everything this game has to offer has been done before and done better over time. To release a precooked game and make it close to the #1 MMO on one site confuses me. That is the only reason I came to play this is because a site said it was awesome and ranked above all but one MMO. I don't know how it got that and it beats me, but more power to you I guess.

Things I predict:

1.) This game will forever live in the shadow of EvE no matter how much it tries to duplicate it.

2.) The game will become obsolete because support for *** DirectX 9 graphics will go away. These graphics remind me of Anarchy Online and the portraits look like what you make in runescape.

3.) Battles will be real dull being only mass blobs where no one will attack each other out of fear of losing their mechs.

4.) People will still complain years down the line of how slow SP gain is even though you can max out all necessary skills in under 4 years of playtime ( if they didn't add more and you were only specialized in one thing like combat or industrial).

5.) The Devs will one day read the game ideas forum and take note.

6.) When they release a majority voted idea they will twist around to only be half as good as it sounded on paper.

7.) E-Wars will get cloak and it will require 1 extension to use and everyone will be using them.

8.) People will rant about cloaks.

9.) The game will turn into EvE null sec gate camps and nothing will happen other than a few rookie bots coming through about once every few hours and the game will become an instant messenger service.

10.) final... People will post more "future of perpetuum" topics years down the line hoping for something better.

Just need more slots imo. The lesser bots (assaults/lights) really suffer from not being able to play them with a lot creativity.

I would love for my Prometheus to be able to fix his weaknesses and amplify his strong points with items but the ability to do so is just not there. 1 head slot and 2 leg slots seems a little too restrictive imo. I mean I am 1 1/2 weeks old and I can equip sensor amps, weapon upgrades, 2 diff scanners, and a ECCM, but only one slot sad

Legs have 2 which is always going to have 2 of 3 things. Armor repair and lightweight frame or armor plate. I would really like to throw a armor hardener on there too to help his weakness to w/e element, but not possible.

more slots imo = funner game play. I mean the only thing that should be really restricting is the amount of reactor and cpu, but if by some day have 10 in all my skills that grant me more reactor and cpu I want the ability to use that to its full potential even with small bots.

Don't sell yourself short with just thinking damage type minefields. I would love some sort of static defenses. Some different types of mines like ECM or Demobilize mines. When set off they create a bubble around them for 1-2 min and have a diameter of like 100m or something. Not too crazy but enough to ruin someones day.

Example:  haulbot moves from teleporter on a route that he has been using all day. Pirate has demobilizing mine places on route. haulbot triggers it in a 5m radius and now has 50m in all directions field of demobilization. Two things happen at this point. haulbot panics and is slowed making a great opportunity to ambush.

Now comes in some questions about mines. Do they disappear from landmarks once set? If so do they become neutral at that point? Meaning can the original placer of the mine trigger it and have the same negative effect as any target triggering it? How long do they last before disappearing? Because having them last forever could cause lag issues with server when you start calculating in 10s to even hundreds of mines.

It says there is a patch in the upcoming week, but I can't find anything about what the patch is focusing on.

You will find it interesting to note that all of the elements you want are in development. A total revamp of the radar with different signatures for different bots and mechs. The essential idea is using a dedicated bot with the correct nods you would be able to sneak under the edge of a heavier mechs radar without getting spotted and maintain contact.

That would be awesome. Radar working like it should instead of this god eye radar we currently have now. Radar should be LoS+ which is pretty much what it is in the RL. What you could see is what it does see.

Welcome!

If you really want to try to gank people, small squads of ewar is your best option.  Sure, they dont do much pew pew, but you want to get in and get out, killing a miner or two or a straggling assault without getting caught.  Especially with ewar, you are not much at risk of damage when they cant lock you anyway.

You have to take the good with the bad.  The bad is that you cant be on top of someone instantly, but the good is that they cant escape instantly if you do get to them.

I am not necessarily asking to be on top of someone instantly like EvE, but I would kind of like to be met halfway with it. I mean there seems to be no reason why anyone would want anything more than E-War bots at this point. it seems the ability to break locks, slow, and damage lock distance and speed of a bot is outweighing the pew pew power of bots stronger than E-Wars.

E-War bots seem to be too strong imo for the lack of defense you can put up against them while using light bots/assault bots. 1-3 head slots is all you got. most are 1 or 2 . So that means sensor amp and weapon upgrade. But you will have to exchange one of those with some sort of E-War defense which the only one is ECCM sure that helps but you can still get slowed pretty heavily.

So as a lot of you out there probably like me oldfags from EvE.

There has been something missing from this game in PvP that has been making me itch. I was a pirate for about 6 years in EvE and I would have to say that I am disappoint.

I know you are trying to be your own game and not trying to be copy pasta, but there are just some things that need improvement/changed in PvP.

1) Radar... I don't believe all bots should have 1km range on their radar at all times. Leave the long distance scouting to the E-Wars. Mining Bots should have the least at about the distance of the longest possible range weapon with full skill upgrades. Then it should work in increments from there.

Reason for this is that there is no way to gank/surprise attack anyone who is not afk. E.G. Is that my current Prometheus with lasers and sensor amp has the max targeting range of 211m with my current skills. That means that any bot has 789m of effective distance to decide wtf to do while my bot is moving at 62kph towards him.

Now lets make this even crazier. I move at 62kph and the miner moves at roughly 45kph (never drove one but rough estimate) that means I have 17kph of effective speed to cover 789m to just start locking on. What happens in all this time? Radio help, decide where they will set up support and lead me to them. blah blah blah

2) Speed... The speed for most bots goes from 40-65kph with exception of E-Wars. So did any thought go into this before making combat bots almost as slow if not slower than industrial bots? I am not asking for AB or MWD's, and I know we are bots. I get that we move slow, but their needs to be some sort of speed boost even if temporary to help get out of sticky situations or to help close that gap on a quick gank or assault. Again from my radar section it is just rediculous how much ground you have to cover just to get anything done.

3) Cloak... I understand this can get real cheezy, but regardless its the future we are bots we should have cloak by order of me. Scouting/ganking/getting away there are just so many positives out of cloak.

4) The terrain... Now I know all of this will require lots of work, but one thing that bothers me about radar is that it must be a satellite view because I am pretty sure radar can't see whats behind a mountain. If the fact that we are stuck on this glitchy terrain meant that you could hide behind things out of radar LoS then OMG this game would be so much better.

Think about it the next time you are out on beta islands doing PvP how much funner it would be if you were doing some covert ops and hiding behind pillars rocks and other solid terrain that concealed your bot from enemy radar. Of course you wouldn't be able to see them either but to poke your head out for intel while you are looking at your landmarks most of them are probably afk or checking market or surfing web while they mine or something. I mean the radar thing worked in eve because it was open space. This is not at all and the last time I checked a military radar about 6 months ago before I got out of Navy in Aug it did not see through mountains.

Ok tired of typing. These may seem like outrageous game ideas but I am only out to make it better and funner for everyone.
