Thank you once again for the 2M NIC.

It's a pity you're leaving, because if ever you wanted to call in a favour...

Its been almost a month since the last blog? Where are we at with the new features?

I expect the devs are on holiday - Europeans have longer summer holidays than Americans!

Seths have a 5% shield absorption per Advanced Robotics level. How is this bonus used?

Are Seths supposed to activate their shields, wait for a line of fire, then lower shields - quickly distroy the enemy using critical hits, then re-shield?

However, I've never used one. How does it work in real life?

I totally agree with you!

I hope both World of Darkness and stEve prosper, but it's easy to have cynical thoughts.

I think some controversy can be a good thing because it makes the game interesting. But everything in moderation.

As I recall though, stEve started off small and gradually built up over time.

Hopefully, history will repeat itself.

I'm all for buying a paintjob for my mech - I just hope the price isn't as high as a monocle in stEve!

Actually, I've managed to answer my own question:

500 peak over the last 24 hours.

I think the game deserves more popularity than this!

I enjoy playing Perpetuum as a hobby - perhaps even more than stEve.

But I wonder, how many people / accounts does Perpetuum have and what is the trend?

I'm just interested.

EW light bots' strength is not the EW itself, only their speed (and that will be nerfed a bit), and only the speed matters, you can engage in combat when you want to engage, you are not forced to fight, until you want to. And if you got ganked by nonewar light bots,  actually you would  die even faster, their dps is about the double of the ewars, and they could still run behind cover, or run out of range when get targeted (and much cheaper!).
I remember a time when there were really strong EW, and there was a Kain without LWF restriction.

I totally agree with the Dev's assessment.

However, I love speed. How about making a more advanced class of special ops bot that is dedicated to recon? For example:

Pros: fast, bonus to chassis scanner range, possible cloak (?when stationary)

Cons: weak, with a possible penalty to damage-dealing and EW.

Somehow the last couples of posts miss the point. If there is a safe zone/timer or not: Its still gate camping.

The only option to prevent gate camping is to remove the gates. If that is not possible, increase the amount of target destinations. If each telepoter could land you on one of 50 possible locations (and there are 3 teleporter to each island) no one will do gate camping anymore.
Only THEN you can expect to have intresting PvP all over the islands.

I prefer this option because it sounds the most fun.

I think it has the added advantage of allowing more solo adventure.

Did you watch the video, just curious.

I've just seen it - I don't know if removing safe zones will make team wars more exciting.

I agree with an experimental change. After all, time developing graphics won't be wasted and neither will player time with regard to EP investment.

The devs may easily be able to adjust things if it doesn't quite work out.

Umad?

I'm saying that people should be careful what they wish for, because they might get it!
It seems people want Perpetuum to be more like Eve Online with respect to gate camps.
In Eve Online, gate camps are the 'poor man's PvP' - they exist to while away the time until a real battle happens.
The sad thing is that people might feel obliged to partake in a boring gate camp for 'the good of the team'.
In Eve Online, it's the less powerful corps that end up gate camping as a career.
Why devote time to a to a substitute battle when you could concentrate an the real deal?

Gate camping is a dreadful game-destroying idea. Please let this thread sink to the bottom and die.

All combat will happen at the same three gates. Everyone will have the same fitting:

- Firearms for maximum short-range damage (no point in fitting lasers, EM, and certainly not missiles),
- The greatest number of sensor amps so they can claim the kill,
- light weight frames so they can run like *** when a larger group threatens to jump through.

So before you endorse this stupid idea, use your brain and think ahead.

I like Intakts as they are because of their survivability.

I can't do nearly as much damage as a mech, so I think it's balanced.

Removing safe zones is a very bad idea.

Perpetuum would become like Eve Online: most of the combat involves gate camping. This is very boring and predictable for everyone.

A big advantage of Perpetuum over Eve is that combat takes place on variable landscapes.

However, one way of giving M2S what they want and preserving the use of landscapes is to remove the radar (perhaps keeping it for specialised scouting bots) thus enabling ambushes.
